Journal Description :Aims and scope História Econômica & História de Empresas, edited by the Brazilian Association of Researchers in Economic History (ABPHE) since 1998, welcomes Economic History, Business History and History of Economic Thought articles. The journal publishes unplusihed papers, by national or foreign authors in the mentioned areas. Official publication of one of the most relevant Brazilian academic association of Social Sciences, História Econômica & Historia de Empresas is the second most important Economic History journal in Latin America. Peer Review Policy Articles submitted for journal consideration initially undergo editor screening, at which point the manuscript is judged according to the journal’s scope and formatting instructions. If the manuscript fails to meet these conditions, it may be subjected to desk rejection. Otherwise, the manuscript is forwarded to anonymous referees, specialists on the subject of the study. Once this process is completed, the referees’ reviews are made available to the authors. Open Access Policy Aiming at the democratization of knowledge, História Econômica & História de Empresas does not charge any fees related to the submission, evaluation, or edition processes. It offers open and immediate access to all of its content (Creative Commons CC BY­ 4.0 License). Copyright Notice By submitting a manuscript to this journal, authors agree with the following terms: (1) Authors retain copyright and grant the journal the right of first publication, with the work simultaneously licensed under the Creative Commons CC BY 4.0 License, which allows for the sharing of the paper while acknowledging authorship and initial publication in this journal; (2) Authors are granted the right to enter into additional and separate contracts aiming at the non-exclusive distribution of the version of the manuscript published in this journal (e.g., reproduction either in institutional repositories or as book chapters), with the acknowledgment of authorship and initial publication in this journal. Ethics Code and Publicaiton Best Practices In conformity with the guidelines established by the COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics), which aims at regulating the ethics code of scientific publications, História Econômica & Historia de Empresas adopts the following procedures in its editorial policy: Authors: Authors must observe the Instructions for Authors in order to satisfy all the conditions indicated, so that the manuscript might be forwarded to peer review with the aim of being published by the journal. Manuscripts that violate the aforementioned ethics code of scientific publications through means as plagiarism, fraud, duplicate submissions, submission of published manuscripts, data falsification, results fabrication, improper authorship, among others, will be promptly rejected. Editors: Editor must analyze whether or not the manuscript fits into the journal’s scope, standards, ethics code and publication norms. If the manuscript does not satisfy such conditions, it might be rejected on this first stage. If the manuscript does satisfy such conditions, it must be forwarded to anonymous referees, specialists on the subject of the manuscript. The reviews produced by these referees must be made available to the authors at the end of the process. Finally, all manuscripts ought to be treated as confidential documents, in order to guarantee the anonymity of both authors and referees. Referees: Referees must observe potential conflicts of interest in case of previous acquaintance with the manuscript’s authorship, which should not be shared or discussed with third parties. In addition, the manuscript must be evaluated in light of the criteria delineated by the evaluation questionnaire, which will guide the editorial decision to be recommended by the referee. At last, it is also up to the referees to identify the possibility of violation of the ethics code, such as the conducts listed above.
