Occupational medicine also called industrial medicine, is the branch of medicine active in the field of occupational health and safety and is concerned with the maintenance of health at the workplace, including prevention and treatment of diseases and injuries, with secondary objectives of maintaining and increasing productivity and social adjustment in the workplace. Occupational medicine centers a wide number of disciplines like clinical medicine, physical medicine and rehabilitation, preventive medicine, insurance medicine, etc. Occupational medicine is focused on the treatment of work-related injuries and illnesses that has been caused or exacerbated by workplace factors. They are concerned with all aspects of the effects of work on health and health on work. |
