Towards the perfecting of the political representation of women in Bolivia |
Author : Carlos Bellott Lopez |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :The political representation of women in Bolivia is currently proportional to the number of existing women in relation to men. This was achieved through the implementation of a gender parity policy, in a progressive process that began in 1997. However, these advances are only positive in the legislative bodies, since in the Executive, women face a similar disadvantage to the one they faced in the legislature during the last century. Therefore, it is necessary to perfect this gender equity policy in both government bodies: the Legislative and the Executive. |

Pepe Le Pew: The debate on Twitter about its supposed cancellation |
Author : Aldana Micaela Pereira Aquino |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :This article aims to explain how the cancellation culture debate developed in the case of Pepe Le Pew on Twitter through the analysis of the content of the tweets on the subject, the classi- fication of interactions between users and the identification of their profi- les according to their position in the debate. For this, the content analy- sis technique was used along with non-participant observation. Through this analysis it was possible to identify that most of the content of the debate were against the cancellation of Pepe, but proposed to cancel other charac- ters, groups or content, thus creating a cancellation of the cancellation. In turn, the interactions were based on defending this position, excluding or attacking different perspectives. Also, it was shown that the majority of users maintained a certain degree of anon- ymity and that the role of the media made the debate controversial by pointing out a supposed cancellation. |

Author : Erick R. Torrico Villanueva |
Abstract | Full Text |

Abstract | Full Text |

Characterization of the digital conversation on the rejection of COVID-19 vaccines in Facebook posts from newspaper pages Página Siete and Los Tiempos |
Author : Javier Alberto Olmos Aguilar |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :The rejection of COVID-19 vaccines in Bolivia causes the vaccination campaign to progress slowly. This research was carried out aiming to characterize the digital conversation about the rejection of COVID-19 vaccines in the Facebook posts of the pages of the newspapers Página Siete and Los Tiempos, between March and July of 2021. The method used to addressing the problem was virtual ethnography. A digital observation guide was used to build a database with a total of 223 publications for further analysis. The results are organized according to the categories: digital conversation topics, evolution and virtual communities. Among the most relevant results, it is shown that the conversation about rejection varies according to the brands of the vaccines. The topic of the political link for or against authorities regarding the management of the vaccination process and vaccine brands is constant in most of the publications. This research is a point of reference to make visible the influence of social networks in the decision-making of the Bolivian population and a means that facilitates the adaptation of strategies to increase vaccination rates. |

Organization, speech and digital activity. An approach to the anti- vaccine movement in WhatsApp groups |
Author : Valeria Peredo Rodríguez |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :In January 2022, Bolivia experienced massive protests led by the anti- vaccine movement. In this article we explore the technological dimension of the conflict, through an approach to anti-vaccine groups on WhatsApp. We explore general characteristics of their organization, we describe central elements in their speech and we approach the activities they carry out within group chats. Likewise, and given that there is not much social research within WhatsApp in Bolivia, this article also makes a methodological proposal, which combines ethnographic observation with digital methods. In addition, we tested possible ethical considerations for research within the app. |
