Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :For the purpose of the study ten male intervarsity cricket players were selected as the subjects. The purpose of this study is to analyze the kinematic variables of underarm throwing technique in cricket (ball velocity, accuracy, and segmental angular variables). Thrower performed under-arm throwing technique with 1120 and 450 approach angle at 450 throwing angle of 10m distance. The mean age, height and body weight of the subjects were reported as 20.60 ± 2.91 years, 170.80 ± 4.02 cm and 60.80 ± 5.14 kg respectively. Canon Legria SF-10 Camcorders were used to record throwing movement, functioning at 120 Hz. The Silicon Coach Pro7 motion analysis software was used to analyze the identified clips. The result of study revealed that there is insignificant difference between ball velocity and accuracy. |

“To the Rescue!”: A Case Study of the Prefaces to Late Eighteenth-Century Children’s Books |
Author : ALEXANDRA PRUNEAN |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :Within the context of the rise of domestic pedagogy, the approach made by women writers of children’s literature is a substantial contribution to the renowned debate on education, providing women educators with both domestic and literary authority. The traditional view is that these women were participating almost angelically in the educational development of their times; however, this position ignores the fact that these writers were, actually, commercially driven. Hence, their “Prefaces”, “Dedications”, “Addresses” or “Postscripts”, dedicated either to parents or to children, contain several ingenious strategies aimed at manipulating and convincing their audience to purchase their “products”. Therefore, this paper aims at studying the writers’ self-representation by looking at a series of books and their paratexts that were used to create support and help the writers advance their commercial objective. The paper focuses on the selected works of Letitia Barbauld, Ellenor Fenn, Sarah Trimmer, Maria Edgeworth, Mary Lamb and Jane West. |

Anekantvada, Post-structuralism and Multiculturalism |
Author : SANJAY GOYAL |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :The basic principles of Anekanta, multiculturalism, and post-structuralism profess many-sidedness and respect for plurality. But it does not mean that anything and everything should be welcome. Perverse actions cannot be welcome but they can be understood and modified. With understanding, transformations do happen. ‘Everything’ does not include ‘perverted’ and ‘sick’ notions. It is but pragmatic to have certain social standards even though one should be free in one’s mind as it helps one run the society smoothly. Not everyone is of the same level. A standard social blue print helps them identify things better. One cannot dismiss them on the grounds of manysidedness. On the contrary, what should be stressed is the point that one should not blindly and rigidly follow the set standards. Always, there should be the freedom and flexibility to cut through the set norms if it does not facilitate the promotion of justice. |

Factors Determining Foreign Direct Investments in Albania |
Author : EVIS GJEBREA OLTJANA ZOTO |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract : The foreign direct investments (FDIs) have taken a very great extent in the last decades in both developing and developed countries, having a positive impact on economic growth. This is mainly due to trade liberalization, as well as other advantages such as higher returns on investments, potential resource seeking, new market seeking, or cheap labor force. In developing countries investors face many risks that go beyond market risks such as corruption, unsustainable legal system, lack of proper definition of property rights, or high bureaucratic rules for businesses. The aim of this paper is to analyze the behavior of Foreign Direct Investments in Albania compared to other countries in the Western Balkans. The study focuses on the trend of Inward and Outward FDIs in Albania and the region for the period 1992-2011, as well as an analysis of the factors influencing FDI flows. The main result is that Albania stands on a very good position regarding FDI flows compared to other countries. This is mainly due to massive privatizations taken after the fall of communism and due to efforts by the Government for creating a business friendly environment. |

Author : RAJKUMARI PARWANI,ARCHANA MANKAD |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :The study was conducted at the GEER foundation, Gandhinagar, India to evaluate environmental impact on biomass production of Cenchrus ciliaris.L (buffel grass) and its allelopathic effect on Dichanthium annulatum and Sehima nervosum. These grasses were grown in separate plots and also in combination. Growth parameters which were studied for all sets were Shoot length, Above Ground Biomass (AGB), Below Ground Biomass (BGB) and number of leaves and meteorological data were also recorded. It was observed that C.ciliaris could survive through extreme climate and Dichanthium annulatum and Sehima nervosum could not flourish in the presence of Cenchrus ciliaris, which resulted in the maximum biomass of Cenchrus ciliaris. The effect of different seasons on biomass of Cenchrus ciliaris was observed over a year. Statistical analysis of the data showed significant variation in biomass. |

ICT Skills and Attitude as Determinants of ICT Pedagogy Integration |
Author : ANITA RASTOGI ,SMRITI MALHOTRA |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :In a developing country like India, the mismatch between the techno-centric culture mindedness and the teachers’ pedagogic culture results in the alienation of the teacher from the use of technology. The present paper focuses on examining teachers’ attitude towards ICT; level of their competence in ICT skills; their experiences with ICT; and how best they use ICT in their current educational practice. Maybe due to the overwhelming strength of different types and levels of ICT skills and attitudes possessed by teachers or due to their staunch commitment to various pedagogical inputs in the teaching-learning process, it is likely that the actual integration of ICT in pedagogy might not take place, both strengths-hanging loose by themselves. This study tries to explore how the proficiency in ICT skills and attitude towards technology can help in ICT-pedagogy integration. It reveals a strong positive relationship between the possession of ICT skills by teachers, their attitude towards ICT and actual implementation of ICT in their classroom teaching. |
