Objective: This study was conducted to investigate the relationship between ethical sensitivity and compassion fatigue in nurses who working in oncology units and intensive care units. Methods: This is a cross-sectional study. It was conducted in a university hospital in a city located in the eastern part of Turkey between April to May 2019. The participants were 178 nurses who volunteered to participate in the study. Data were collected using the Socio-Demographic Characteristics Form, Compassion Fatigue Scale and Moral Sensitivity Questionnaire. Results: The mean total score of the Compassion Fatigue Scale was 17,90 ± 9,60, the total score of the Moral Sensitivity Questionnaire was found to be 88,78 ± 23,15. The mean score of Compassion Fatigue was found to be significant higher in the employees in the current unit and occupation for 1-5 years (p <0,05). There was no significant relationship between the mean score of Compassion Fatigue Scale and the mean score of Moral Sensitivity Questionnaire. Conclusion: In this study, it was determined that those with a working time of 1-5 years, those who think about leaving work more compassion fatigue, that ethical sensitivity is not affected by demographic characteristics and there is no relationship between compassion fatigue and ethical sensitivity.

Objective: Plants produce some secondary compounds which are used in medicine, food, cosmetics and textile industries. Some of these compounds are effective in humans such as antioxidant, antiinflammatory, antialergic, antiulcer, antibiotic and anticarcinogenic therefore the interest in plants that intensively produce these compounds has increased. It is important that to obtain these compounds on high levels, but it is known that they are obtained at lower levels by traditional extraction methods. Methods: These compounds can be obtained with high-quality, quantity and purity by biotechnological methods. Therefore, studies have focused on these techniques. In this study, it was aimed that the production of anthocyanins by callus cultur obtained from the leaves of the Alphonse Lavalle grape variety and it was also aimed the determination of these compounds with HPLC. Results: As a result of this research, six media were used and the anthocyanin contents were changed between 8.716 and 94.501 µg/g. Conclusion: It is important to obtain high-value and sustainable production of the components which are highly valuable for human health and which have high added value without damaging the environment with tissue culture techniques and different applications.

Cancer is one of the most important health problems of our age, which threatens human health in our country and all over the world, and its prevalence is increasing rapidly. Cancer patients experience several psychosocial problems, including diagnosis, treatment, treatment and recurrence. Nurses play an important role in determining the psychosocial problems of cancer patients and eliminating these problems. In this review, it is aimed to draw attention to the importance of psychosocial problems experienced by cancer patients and to examine strategies to deal with these problems.

Objective: This study aims to assess nursing department students’ attitudes towards environmental problems. Methods: The present study is descriptive in nature. It was conducted with the volunteer participation of 1047 students in three different universities in the eastern part of Turkey between December 2017 and March 2018. Data were collected using the Socio-demographic Form and Attitudes towards Environmental Problems Scale. Results: Results showed that students’ Attitudes towards Environmental Problems Scale mean score was 64.86 ± 10.22; the scores obtained from the scale ranged between 17 and 88. Categorization of the scale scores showed that 67.3% of the students were in the high score group. Mean score of female students and students who were “always” sensitive to environment was found to be statistically higher (p<0.05). Conclusion: In conclusion, nursing students had positive attitudes towards environmental problems, and mean scores were found to be higher in female students and students who were sensitive to behaviours about environment.

Objective: The objective of the study is to examine the relationships between social appearance anxiety and social anxiety, self-esteem and life satisfaction in adults. Methods: The sampling of the study consists of 300 individuals (69% female, 31% male) ranging between 18 and 60 years of age who were reached with convenience sampling method. The average age of the participants is 28.63 (SD= 9.10). The participants were applied Demographic Information Form, Social Appearance Anxiety Scale, Leibowitz Social Anxiety Scale, Self-Liking/Self-Competence Scale and Adults Life Satisfaction Scale. Results: No significant difference was found according to the gender of participants in their scores from Social Appearance Anxiety Scale. A positive and significant relationship was found between social appearance anxiety and social anxiety. A negative and significant relationship was found in social appearance anxiety and self-esteem and life satisfaction. Conclusion: The findings of the study have indicated that the high social appearance anxiety in adults is related to the high social anxiety and low self-esteem and life satisfaction. The findings have been discussed in view of the literature.
