“A STUDY OF THE PSYCHIC STRUGGLE IN THE MODERN BRITISH DRAMA. |
Author : DR. V. Vijay Sarathi |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :The lamentation of the present common men is that they are struck down not only by the villainy of society but also by their own mistakes, rooted in their own characters, in the inner realms of their mind. And it is an attempt on the part of the author of this research paper to reveal this ‘inner darkness’ of the human soul for the vision of modern man cannot see anything beyond that thus the ‘psychic’ condition becomes predominant. The ‘inner disparity’ of the fundamental cause in shaping their ultimate destiny. Nevertheless, the suffering or
solitude results from the interaction of the private guilt of the character and the hostile conditions of the public life in which they are planted. But before we actually enter into the examination of the ‘intra-psychic’ struggle, we shall see far the living conditions of modern man could be responsible in deciding his present state. |

APPLICATION OF DYNAMIC PROGRAMMING TO SLOPE STABILITY ANALYSIS |
Author : Shambhu Kumar Choudhary |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :The applicability of the dynamic programming method to two-dimensional slope stability analyses is studied. The critical slip surface is defined as the slip surface that yields the minimum
value of an optimal function. The only assumption regarding the shape of the critical slip surface is that the surface is an assemblage of linear segments. Stresses acting along the critical slip surface are computed using a finite element stress analysis. Assumptions associated with limit equilibrium methods of slices related to the shape of the critical slip surface and the relationship between interslice forces are no longer required. |

A TEXT PICTURE ON AN OPERATIONS AND PERFORMANE OF INDIAN COMMERCIAL BANKS |
Author : Dr. Prakash Sutari , Anita Basappa and Reshma Karoor |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :Indian banking operation and performance while taking against the backdrop of a slowdown in the domestic economy and tepid global recovery. This study explores the growth of the Indian banking sector slowed down for the second consecutive year in 2012-13. There was also a decline in the growth of profits of scheduled commercial banks (SCBs) as credit off-take slowed down and interest rates softened. The asset quality also
deteriorated, more perceptibly for public sector banks. On the positive side, capital positions of Indian banks, including public sector banks, remained strong and above the stipulated minimum to face any unforeseen losses. There was also a significant expansion in the outreach of banking in unbanked rural centres, as financial inclusion plans completed three years. In the short-term, the Indian banking sector needs to lend support to productive sectors facilitating economic recovery, while remaining vigilant about asset quality. In the medium to long-term, sustained improvements in efficiency and inclusiveness remain key areas of concern.

EFFECT OF REMEDIAL PROGRAMME ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF WRITING SKILLS IN ENGLISH AMONG CHILDREN WITH DYSGRAPHIA |
Author : Dr. Saroj Sobti |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :In the current education system written language plays a very significant role in the overall performance of the students. Since knowledge is tested through written examinations, it follows, that a student with poor writing skills will perform badly, and may fail and even risk expulsion from school because of repeated failures. The writing problem in children is usually referred to as "dysgraphia". But due to the ever-increasing population the classrooms are brimming with students and it becomes impossible for a teacher to pay attention to all the
students individually. Therefore in order to improve the writing skills of the students with dysgraphia, it becomes a necessity that English should be taught, learnt and written in a proper way. In the present study the investigators applied the Pre-test Post -test Experimental Control group design. Experimental group was taught through the remedial teaching and the control group was taught through the conventional method. To measure the significant difference ‘t’ test was applied. Results indicated that students of experimental group scored better as
compared to the control group. |

However, the noise levels at all the places are exceeding over the set limits described by the Central Pollution Control Board during day time except at Visakhapatnam Steel Plant most of the time in the year. The increase in traffic movement around the silence zones is raising the noise levels. The trend of tempering with horn & silencers of vehicles
specially two wheelers is increasing peak as well as ambient noise levels. The large difference in the noise levels of
two industrial zones under the study is not due their industrial activity but due to traffic transiting around them.

Preliminary findings of in-depth interviews with 50 baalot teshuva suggest that, while the affirmation of gender difference clearly leads to a focus on femininity, mothering, and domesticity, it does not necessarily result in a reaffirmation of patriarchal values and practices.

One such factor is stress, and job stress in particular which is inevitable and unavoidable component of life due to increasing complexities and competitiveness in
living standards. Stress is received differently by different people. It lies in the eyes of the beholder. The experience
of feeling stress depend on which events one notices and how one chooses to appraise or interpret them. Events that are stressful for one person may be routine for another. Occupational Stress Index (OSI) by Srivastava and Singh was used as a research tool. Findings of the study were important from the point of view of excellence of teachers and their effectiveness in jobs situations. Research revealed that teachers in self-finance institutions, teachers teaching in
Madhya Pradesh and Chhattishgarhfemale teachers were more stressed. Reasons for this may be attributed to the administrative policies regarding teachers in terms of job security, motivation, due credit, less salary, attitude of the colleagues and head of the institutions, poor working conditions and less scope for professional growth may also be the reasons. Stress felt by female teachers may be attributed to the reason that female teachers have to shoulder dual responsibilities leading to role conflict, insufficient time and gender discrimination in work place.

THE TWO GREAT GUARDIANS OF THE WORLD IN CONCEPTION OF ETHIC |
Author : Ven. Nandobhasa |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :Hiri and Ottappa protect you from immoralities putting restraints on son from misconduct with mother as well as on brother from committing son with sister. They are regarded, therefore as two great guardians of the world (LokapalaDhamma) protecting you from immoralities. So they are pure and wholesome ideals, known as Sukka Dhamma. These two Dhamma keep human beings in moral discipline and moral restraint that distinguish them from animals. Without Hiri and Ottappa, mankind will sink into evil depths and be reduced
to the state of animals. Today many people are void of moral shame and dread so that they dress, eat and behave in decently. If this moral decay continues to proliferate, the world will soon end in complete ruin. For mankind will turn into animals. A person acquires Hiri and Ottappa by means of sympathetic considerations for others and by holding the honor and dignity of his close acquaintance. But if you have no sympathetic consideration for your family, teachers, etc., you lack both Hiri and Ottappa and you will do many evil deeds in your life. |

EMPLOYMENT GENERATION FOR POVERTY ALLEVIATION AND HUMAN DEVELOPMENT |
Author : Shah Aminur Rahman |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :This article tries to examine the relation between the extent of poverty and various dimensions of human development in different parts of the world with emphasis on the Indian realities. Though significance of public spending on health and education for enhancing human development in India cannot be disputed, it is maintained here that India can fare well in the comity of nations only if poverty is substantially reduced. It is
further argued here that without the generation of productive employment poverty cannot be alleviated because in the ultimate analysis what matters in growth process is rise in earnings of individuals through their own efforts, given the budgetary constraints which both the central and the state governments face. |
