he micro-credit programmes focus on organisation of the rural poor at the grassroots level through a process of social mobilization. It enables the poor build their own organisations (SHGs) consisting of 10-20 persons, in which they participate fully and directly and take decisions on all issues concerning poverty eradication. Micro-finance can be a powerful tool in initiating a cyclical process of growth and development. Micro-finance activity can improve the access of rural poor to financial services. Changing population density is often ignored in studies of population growth and population transfer in the Satara district. The population density of Satara district rose from 137 in 1961 to 268 in 2001.The initial provisional data suggest a density of 287 in 2011 compared to 268 of 2001. The present paper shows that there is a complex relationship between patterns of population growth and density increase by the Satara district.

The study area is located in the drought prone areas of Solapur district in western part of the Maharashtra. Thus annual rainfall conditions differ from region to region. In spite of the technological developments in providing improved crop varieties and better management practices in Solapur district, agriculture has been considered a gamble as the agricultural productivity is strongly influenced by the vagaries of the monsoon. The drought prone area in the district on annual rainfall occurs once in five years. The average annual rainfall is 561 mm. The computation of eleven tahsilwise annual rainfall use help of mean, S.D. and coefficient of rainfall variability shows the choropleth map. This attempt has been made to 2000 to 2010 annual rainfall in Solapur district.

Every Indian says that times have changed now as there is no difference between a son and a daughter . It is increasingly argued that a daughter is the biggest asset to her parents in contemporary times as it is she and not their son who keeps caring, loving and maintaining them till their sunset days. Also a girl is making her parents proud by excelling in the fields of sports, education, science and technology , and literature, and so on. Even the government of India and several political parties are not behind in eulogizing daughters. It sounds optimistic and it seems we are close to kicking off the age old male chauvinism. It all indicates that a gender sensitive social structure is coming up.

Six Characters in Search of an Author is the most famous and celebrated play by the Italian writer Luigi Pirandello. In this play, a group of actors are preparing to rehearse for a Pirandello play. While starting the rehearsal, they are interrupted by the arrival of six characters. The leader of the characters, the father, informs the manager that they are looking for an author. He explains that the author who created them did not finish their story, and that they therefore are unrealized characters who have not been fully brought to life. The manager tries to throw them out of the theater, but becomes more intrigued when they start to describe their story. After their story, the manager agrees to become author for them. But several artistic difficulties come in his ways. Characters do not like his play as they have different perceptions which don't match with author's vision. The present study was carried out to determine the histopathological effects of nicotine, one of the most significant components of tobacco, on liver and kidney of rat and ameliorative effect of curcumin on liver and kidney damage. Thirty adult albino rats were divided into three groups; control group, nicotine group and nicotine + curcumin group. The rats in nicotine and nicotine + curcumin groups were injected intraperitoneally with 2.5mg/Kg of nicotine every day for eight weeks. The rats in nicotine+ curcumin group were additionally given 80mg/Kg of curcumin by stomach tube after 10 minutes from nicotine injection for eight weeks. Five animals from each group were killed after six weeks while the rest were killed after eight weeks. Biochemical results showing increased Malondialdehyde (MA) and nitric oxide (NO) and decreased reduced glutathione (GSH), superoxide dismutase (SOD) and catalase (Ca) in nicotine treated groups. While in nicotine + curcumin groups showing improvement of the previous results. The liver and kidney were removed for histopathological processing and examined by light microscopy. The histopathological results revealed time-dependent degeneration in the liver and kidney in nicotine group. Regenerative changes in nicotine + curcumin group were observed when compared with nicotine group, but the improvement was better after six weeks than eight weeks.

This article highlights the problems of solid waste management in the city of Guwahati. The institutional responsibility of solid waste disposal system is assigned to the Guwahati Municipal Corporation. But the service provided by the corporation is neither efficient nor sufficient. This has created enormous problem in the city. Therefore, an attempt has been made in this article to examine people's willingness pay to solve the problem.

Zooplankton diversity is one of the most important ecological parameters in water quality assessment. Zooplanktons are good indicators of the changes in water quality because they are strongly affected by environmental conditions & respond quickly to changes in water quality. Zooplankton is the intermediate link between phytoplankton and fish. Hence qualitative and quantitative studies of zooplankton are of great importance. The Unknown Citizen by W.H. Auden is a satiric poem. It describes an average citizen in a government-controlled state. In many big cities, there is a monument to the Unknown Soldier that stands for the thousands of unknown soldiers who die for their country. The title of Auden's poem parodies this. The citizen to whom the monument has been built has been found to be without any fault. He was a saint not because he searched for God but because he served the government perfectly. He did not get dismissed from his job. He was a member of the Union and paid all his dues to the union. A report on the Union shows that it was a balance union and did not take extreme views on anything. The social psychology workers found that he was popular among his fellow workers and had a drink with them now and then. He also bought a newspaper every day. He reached to the advertisements normally.

Brainstorming is creative group work in which group members produce a large number of ideas quickly for subsequent evaluation. It is a strategy to generate ideas. The prime aim of Brainstorming is to stimulate thinking of the student and bring out a great range of ideas. Students are motivated to come up with creative and exciting ideas without fear of criticism and evaluation. Spontaneous reactions and opinions are generated in the session. The study aimed at finding opinions of student teacher on running the Brainstorming sessions.

Background: Early phase of youth is a delicate period due to inadequate mental, physical and social maturity. An incomplete psychological development during this period and peer group influence results in adopting risky behaviour making them more vulnerable to HIV/AIDS. Objectives: To assess the awareness regarding HIV/AIDS among college students in Chennai. Methods: We approached the Arts and Science College for conducting HIV awareness program for the students. We requested all the students to take a sheet of paper and write whatever questions they have in their mind about HIV/AIDS. Results: There were about 400 students, 200 Arts group students and 200 Science group students, out of 400 students 275 were males and 125 were females. All the students were heard about HIV/AIDS, Condom and Sexual contact, but most of them are not aware of mode of transmission and preventive measures. Conclusion: The findings of the study show that Even though all the college students have heard about HIV/AIDS. Most of them are not aware about the mode of transmission and preventive measures. Young people are more vulnerable and are less covered by HIV/AIDS prevention programmes. These study results can be useful in directing future efforts at creating awareness about HIV/AIDS.
