In the post-independence era, it is taken for granted that the oppressive system has disappeared with the demise of the Empire, the emergence of democracy, dissemination of education and advancement of science and technology, but the hegemonic system, may be in lesser degree, continues to plague the Indian society both covertly and overtly. But it does not mean these changes are useless and ineffective. The socio-cultural and political changes, in the postcolonial era, have awakened the hitherto marginalized sections to their rights as independent human beings. Conscious of their rights, they interrogate and challenge the system that denies them basic rights to grow in life. The present paper seeks to examine the theme of resistance to and revolt against the still alive oppressive system in Arundhati Roy's The God of Small Things. The novel represents the theme through the characters of Ammu, Velutha, Rahel and Estha. The way the theme is treated calls for our attention to the large-scale death and destruction looming large on the social horizon. The novelist presents the view that the cardinal virtues of love, trust, tolerance and brotherhood can go a long way in creating social harmony. The argument illustrates the post-modernist view that peaceful-coexistence is urgently needed to save human race from decay and destruction.

We have synthesized six complexes {M(CO) [HMINH]}1a-3a, (1a, M = Cr, 2a, 4 M = Mo, 3a, M = W), {M(CO) [HINH]} 1b-3b (1b, M = Cr, 2b, M = Mo, 3b, M = W) by 4 photochemical displacement of two CO group from M(CO) by N'-(2-hydroxy-3- 6 methoxybenzylidene)isonicotinohydrazide [HMINH] and N'-(2-hydroxy benzyli dene)isonicotinohydrazide [HINH] derived from isonicotinohydrazide. The synthesized complexes exhibit variable degree of antibacterial activity. The complexes have been characterized by elemental analysis, IR, [1H]-NMR spectroscopy and magnetic studies. The spectroscopic studies suggest a bidentate behavior of the ligand via azomethine-N and phenolic-O donor atoms with the metal (0).

This research was conducted to find out the possible strategies and professional measures that could be adopted to enhance job satisfaction of technology and engineering instructors in Nigeria vis-à-vis reducing poverty in the country. The research sought answers to two research questions. And one null hypothesis was tested at 0.05 level of significance. Twenty nine item questionnaire organised into two sections was used for data collection. A population of 109 technology and engineering instructors randomly selected from tertiary institutions in South-Eastern Nigeria responded to the questionnaire. Data collected were analysed utilizing frequency counts, mean and t-test statistics. Based on the findings of the research, some recommendations were made.

The villagers believe that jaundice occurs when the liver of a person enlarge and become less functional due to excessive intake of high proteinous as well as spicy food. By seeing the external appearance of a person they diagnose this disease. According to them when a person suffers from it, the conjunctival membranes over the sclerae and urine become yellowish in colour and even sometimes skin and nail also. Very low appetite makes the person very weak. Two table spoon juice of raw turmeric has to be consumed by the patient in empty stomach. Besides these, two tablets with water has to be consumed by the patient twice a day after having meal and these tablets are prepared from rhizome of mango ginger and turmeric mixed with honey.

The present study was carried out to know the awareness level regarding welfare schemes among Backward Classes in rural Haryana. On the basis of literacy rate six villages namely, Ramgarh, Kardhan, Bharawas were selected from the high literacy rate category and Talwara Khurd, Bhuna, Ahrawan from the low literacy rate. Stratified Random sampling was used in the present study and 305 respondents were selected from universe. It is concluded that those respondents who had their annual income more than Rs. 50000, were significantly aware of Fee exemption in field of jobs and educational, provision of imparting free coaching for competitive examinations than their counterparts. It is clear from the study that there are no significant difference between the income of the respondents and loan schemes, knowledge about parental income limit. It can be established that those respondents, who had their or their family annual income more than Rs. 50000 were aware of the knowledge of temporary nature of reservation and limitation of reservation policy.

Parliament had earlier introduced Article 16(4B). This sub-Article was significant since it was not confined to SCs and STs but theoretically applied to OBCs also. This sub-Article said that if any unfilled reserved vacancy was carried forward; such unfilled vacancies should not be counted while calculating the ceiling of 50 per cent of reservation. The petitioners before the Supreme Court challenged the above amendments along with one more amendment made to Article 335, which enabled the relaxation in qualifying marks for SC and ST candidates. The Supreme Court had to address a crucial issue, namely whether any or all of these amendments were violative of the basic structure of the Constitution, since that is the only ground available in law to challenge a constitutional amendment.

Drought is an extended period of months or years when a region notes a deficiency in its water supply whether surface or underground water. Generally, this occurs when a region receives consistently below average precipitation. The Indian state of Maharashtra is affected by severe drought in 2013. It is considered as the region's worst drought in 40 years. With 3,712 major, minor and medium projects, Maharashtra has the highest number of dams in the country; yet its irrigation coverage was 17.9 per cent in 2009-10. Its projects are plagued with delays and cost overruns, and a special team headed by Madhav Chitale is investigating them.The Maharashtra Economic Survey 2012-13, does not give any figure for irrigated area, saying it is not available. Last year, this same figure had created a furore, since it had increased by a mere 0.1 per cent from 2000-01 when it was 17.8 per cent, after a decade-long expenditure of nearly Rs 70,000 crore. The worst ever drought that the state of Maharashtra has experienced till date is the 1972 drought when almost 5 million people had no work as the crops failed. But the current drought in Maharashtra is set to break all the records. With millions estimated to be affected, lakhs of cattle rendered hungry without fodder, this drought is the worst kind of natural disaster that the state has faced. Almost 1/5th of Maharashtra is reeling under drought.

Data mining involves the use of sophisticated data analysis tools to discover previously unknown, valid patterns and relationships in large data sets. Consequently, data mining consists of more than collecting and managing data, it also includes analysis and prediction. Data mining is used for producing predictive models that are helpful in decision making. In order to improve the efficiency of mining algorithm for the large data sets we are implementing Distributed Data Mining (DDM) which uses Message Passing Interface (MPI) so that different instances of the same process can communicate with each other. Then the proposed algorithm can be compared with existing algorithm to check the performance. Similarly the algorithm can also be compared to show that how distributed computing increases the performance as compared to single processor. Result generated by the proposed work shows that the performance of DTI algorithm gets improve if we perform DDM using message passing interface.
