| The clinical value of Stimulated Thyroglobulin/TSH ratio in patients with differentiated thyroid cancer for successful initial ablation after total thyroidectomy | Author : Zhi-xiao Wei | Abstract | Full Text | Abstract :Objective
This study aim to using thyroid stimulating hormone(TSH) to correct Thyroglobulin(Tg) and analyzing Tg/TSH ratio to predict the value of successful radioactive iodine remnant ablation(RIRA), and assess whether Tg/TSH ratio can be used as a good predictor and compared with stimulated thyroglobulin.
Methods
One hundred and ninety DTC patients with total thyroidectomy were retrospectively analyzed to compare the ability of Tg level and the Tg/TSH ratio to predict successful RIRA.
Results
One hundred and twenty-eight (67.37%) patients were successful ablation. Patients’ gender, age, pathological types and cervical lymph node metastasis did not difference between successful and unsuccessful group(all P>0.05). There were significance statistically difference between successful and unsuccessful group about Tg level and Tg/TSH ratio (t=6.85,9.46, respectively, all P<0.01). The optimum cutoff value for Tg to predict ablation curative effect was 38.18 ng/ml and the sensitivity and specificity was 87.50% and 58.06%, respectively. And for the Tg/TSH ratio optimum cutoff value was 0.969 and the sensitivity and specificity was 93.75% and 56.45%, respectively. According multivariate regression analysis showed only initial ablation (131)iodine doses, Tg level and Tg/TSH ratio remained significantly associated with successful ablation. The correlation for Tg/TSH ratio with OR 9.43(3.45-25.64) was more stronger than alone Tg with OR 3.14(1.25-7.87).
Conclusions
This study conclude that the Tg/TSH ratio has more stronger than alone Tg in predicting successful RIRA in patients of DTC. |

| | The Importance of Using ZOUSH Ointment in Burn Wound infection Treatments | Author : Davoud Esmaeili | Abstract | Full Text | Abstract :Background: Pseudomonas aeruginosa is an opportunistic bacteria which is one of the most important bacterial infection. As incidence of MDR and XDR strains were reported and antibiotic resistant is a global issue we research about new drug.
Materials and methods: Data about Iranian herbal medicine were obtained by searching databases. In this research we study about 50 papers of different databases.
Result: The result of our study indicated that ZOUSH ointment which is include herbal medicine such as Satureja Khuzestaniea, Zataria Multiflora, Mentha Mozaffariani Jamzad can use for controlling burn wound infections.
Conclusion: ZOUSH ointment will been used as a common ointment for healing burn wound infections. |

Satureja khuzistanica, an endemic plant to Iranian flora is widely distributed in the southern and western parts of Iran. It is famous for its medical uses as analgesic and antiseptic in folk medicine. It has been showed that Satureja khuzistanica possess inhibitory effects on the proliferation and reproduction of certain tumorigenic microorganisms and viruses, such as Heliobacter pylori. Transcriptional regulation of some oncogene and carcinogenesis-related gene expression and interaction with both DNA and RNA are also well documented. Besides, Satureja khuzistanica is a spectrum enzyme inhibitor. More importantly, the suppression of tumor growth and metastasis, the beneficial application in combined medication, and the improvement of multidrug resistance both in vivo and in vitro clearly show its potential as an alternative medicine for tumor chemotherapy. |
| | Selected Sudanese Medicinal Plants Induce Anticancer and Cytotoxic Effects in Cervical Cancer Cell Line | Author : Montasir Ahmed Elnour | Abstract | Full Text | Abstract :Modern pharmacology, however, relies on refined chemicals - either obtained from plants, or synthesized. This work investigated the anticancer, antioxidant and Cytotoxicity activities of N. lotus leaves citrate, N. lotus leaves not citrate, P. juliflora leaves commonly used as anti-inflammatory and Ant diabetic. All the plant parts were extracted using 80% methanol, the anticancer activity was examined by using MTT assay against Hela (Cervical Cancer) Cell Line. And determine their antioxidant activities by testing DPPH cytotoxicity using - (4, 5-Dimethyl thiazole-2-yl)-2, 5-diphenyl tetrazolium bromide (MTT), filter and kept in dark, prepared freshly. The examined plants methanolic extracts of P. juliflora leaves is high activity against Hela (Cervical Cancer) Cell Line IC50 is 56.02 µg/ml. The extract C N. lotus leaves citrate, N. lotus leaves not citrate has shown none active anti- Hela (Cervical Cancer) IC50 values 100, and > 100 µg/ml respectively. All the extracts revealed cytotoxicity activity not toxic in N. lotus leaves citrate, N. lotus leaves not citrate, P. juliflora leaves the inhibition percentage with (90.81, 89.33074 , 86.47866 ) (73.17427 , 71.93975 , 60.17069 ) (74.93001, 73.78714 , 71.13981 ) respectively. The following plant parts showed highly potent scavenging activity against DPPH (above 80%); N. lotus leaves citrate, 88.78, While the following revealed a good activity against DPPH (between 60-79); N. lotus leaves not citrate, P. juliflora leaves with inhibition % are 77and 62.96 respectively. |
