Electronic Phase Selector Switch |

Abstract :The power failure slows down the production of industry, construction work of new plants and buildings. It can overcome by using a backup power supply such as a generator. But it is a
cost effective and also time consuming, as certain time is required to switch on the generator manually. The power interruption in distribution system is about 70% for single phase faults while other two phases are in normal condition. In any commercial power supply system, if three phases are available, then automatic phase selection can be done in to critical loads in the event of power failure in any phase. There is no need of backup power supply and the phase is changed
automatically within a few seconds. The aim of this paper is the real idea of an automatic phase changing switch for 220V -240V alternating current. The designs available are single phase change over switches, two phase automatic transfer switch and three phase automatic change over switch which are manually operated. The present paper informs about an automatic phase selection using electronic circuit which is designed only for, three phase A.C. input power to single phase A.C. output applications. |

Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :Global warming and energy demand is the present scenario before us. Increasing demand of energy compelled us to take necessary steps to recover waste heat from several sources. To fulfil the energy crisis and global environment protection utilization of waste heat should be the prime focus. The main aim of this paper is to find the best possible way to recover the waste heat from condenser of a domestic refrigerator. We know that the condenser of refrigerators reject large heat inside room which make us uncomfortable in summer due to temperature rise. This waste heat can be utilized for number of household purposes such as keeping food hot, heating water, cloths and grain drying. This seems to be a most valuable optional approach to improve overall efficiency of refrigerator and utilize the waste heat. This research shows that such a system is possibly feasible and economically suitable. |

Inkjet printed temperature sensor and its quality characteristics |
Author : Lutz Sommer |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :The subject of the study investigates the fabrication and measurement accuracy of resistive temperature fabricated using low-cost inkjet printer. For this study a low-cost commercially available inkjet printer was used in conjunction with a high-quality nanoparticle ink for the fabrication process. Electrical conductive silver nanoparticle ink from AgIC with a sheet resistance of 200 m?/sq was used in the fabrication process. The selection of the ink was based on the fact that
no additional sintering process was needed for curing. The temperature sensors were fabricated without pre/post treatments to determine the influence of lack of pre/post treatment, influence of resulting bending due to lack of encapsulation and influence of environmental factors / aging on the temperature measurement accuracy. The result of the study indicates a linear relationship between the temperature and corresponding sensor resistance in the range of 20-80 °C. In the higher temperature ranges more than 80 °C, a polynomial relation between the temperature and corresponding resistance can be visualized. The results also indicates to the fact that lack of the print quality outshines all other negative influence (lack of encapsulation and environmental) as the major factor influencing the temperature measurement accuracy. |

Performance analysis of solar chimney for passive cooling of the building |
Author : Bikash Ranjan Pattanayak, Prabha Chand, and Abhishek Priyam |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :The solar chimney is a passive device that is applied to enhance room ventilation. The chimney could be vertical or inclined. The chimney inclination angle and air inlet opening position are important parameters that greatly affects flow pattern and ventilation rate inside the room. In this study, the effect of air inlet opening position and chimney inclination angle on air change per hour and air flow pattern inside the room was numerically investigated. A numerical simulation using CFD code was used to predict flow pattern. Then the results were compared with published experimental measurements. Find out the effect of air inlet opening position and inclination angle of chimney on mass flow rate at outlet of the chimney. |
