The subject-matter of the present investigation concerns the use of different methods for making distinctions

Abstract :The article presents the work of the secretary of the Bessarabian Metropolitan Church professor
Constantin N. Tomescu, between 1918-1940 and 1941-1944. Born in Constanta, after his studies at the Iasi
Theological Seminary and then at the Faculty of Theology in Bucharest, Constantin N. Tomescu was delegated
as secretary of the Metropolitan Church of Bessarabia and ful"illed this function throughout the interwar
period. In Chisinau he carried out extensive cultural activities: in parallel with the position of secretary of
the Metropolitan, he collaborated in publishing several newspapers and magazines, actively participated in
various Committees, Societies, Cultural Associations, schools, etc.
In 1926 he actively participated in the opening of the Faculty of Theology in Chisinau, being involved until
1944 as a professor and dean of this faculty. In 1937 - 1938 he was Minister of Cults and Arts. With the Soviet
army entering Bessarabia in 1944, he and his family "led to Romania. During the communist regime, he was
imprisoned three times as a representative of the old Romanian ruling elite, and the longing for Bessarabia
intensi"ied his desire to put on paper his impressions during the period in of"ice, in the administrative centre
of the Romanian province on the left of the Prut. Constantin Tomescu’s memoirs, taken out of anonymity and
published in their entirety, become a rich historiographical source |
