ISLAND OF HVAR – CULTURAL TOURISM DESTINATION | Author : Mili Razovic, Petar Razovic | Abstract | Full Text | Abstract :The first beginnings of organized tourism on the island of Hvar date back to 1868 when the Hygienic Society of Hvar was founded and the main motive for the arrival of tourists on the island are favorable climatic conditions. The development of tourism on the island of Hvar took place in accordance with general processes where the main motives for the arrival of tourists were swimming and sunbathing. At the same time, natural resources, sports, entertainment and the off er of cultural tourism, which is extremely present on the entire island, are being valorized. The richness of cultural heritage is confi rmed by the fact that the UNESCO list of tangible and intangible heritage includes: Starogradsko polje - Ager, Hvar agave lace, Hvar gastronomy - Starogradski paprenjak, procession “Behind the Cross” and Klapa singing.Highly valuable cultural attractions certainly include Grapceva špilja, the system of fortresses in Hvar and Vrboska, monasteries in Hvar and Stari Grad, as well as other sacral buildings with their rich artistic holdings. The peculiarity of the island’s rural and urban architecture gives an additional dimension to the island of Hvar as a destination for cultural tourism. Based on the analysis of the resource base, it is proposed to improve the off er of cultural tourism and its new function in the development of tourism on the island of Hvar.Based on the analysis of the resource base, it is proposed to improve the off er of cultural tourism and its new function in the development of tourism on the island of Hvar. |
| CHARACTERISTICS OF POST-MILLENIALS OR THE GENERATION Z AS NEW PARTICIPANTS IN THE LABOR MARKET | Author : Nataša Rupcic | Abstract | Full Text | Abstract :Along with social and technological development, human characteristics tend to change. Each generation, by means of mutual and intensive communication, creates new behavioral patterns and perspectives about the world and its development. Recently, a new generational cohort called postmillennials or the generation Z could be identified comprised of people born from 1996 onward. The question is raised how this new generation could fit with the demands of modern business and how they should be managed to ensure that they further contribute to the increase of productivity, efficiency, effectiveness and sustainability. Members of the generation Z are primarily determined by their mergence with the information and communication technology and consumption of enormous amount of the information content, contributing to many adverse effects such as shortening of their attention span. The goal of this paper is therefore to determine characteristics of the generation Z with the purpose to identify guidelines regarding managing this new human capital in the labor market with the emphasis on their effective learning, innovation but also reaching the goal of self-actualization. |
| SOCIOCULTURAL REMINISCENCIES OF PANDEMICS,HEALTH CULTURE AND TOURISM IN DALMATIA | Author : Stanko Geic, Marijana Jurišic, Jakša Geic | Abstract | Full Text | Abstract :Throughout its millennial history, humanity has been confronted with numerous infectious diseases and even global pandemics since time immemorial, with an insuffi cient level of health culture. Among the most famous and most terrible pandemics, the source and focus of which was most often in the Far East with a low health culture were pandemics of leprosy, plague, smallpox, cholera, tuberculosis, malaria, and the latest pandemic Corona virus SARS cov-2 covid-19 They also aff ected our region and Dalmatia, which has always had extensive communications throughout the Mediterranean and the world. Half a billion people or 2/3 of the inhabitants of Europe and its recurrences are recorded until the beginning of the 21st century. The development of mass tourism with all the health benefi ts of temporary changes in the working and living environment and living in healthsaving areas (sea, lakes, mountains ...), due to large globalized intercontinental migrations at the same time results in large pollution and environmental destruction and intensive contacts for the spread of epidemics pai pandemic infectious diseases.Positive but also negative experiences and the scale of pandemics of infectious diseases and activities for their prevention and control are considered on a global scale and especially in the area of the famous Croatian Mediterranean region of Dalmatia, as a crossroads of demographic, economic and cultural communications to Europe and the world. Understanding and analyzing the occurrence and legality of occurrence, development, spread and duration of periodic recurrence of epidemics and pandemics, as well as their suppression and prevention throughout the millennium history, with sociocultural and touristic interaction which is discussed in this paper, can be a valuable reference point in the current pandemic SARS Cov-2 Covid 19, which has seriously threatened the world with so far (31.01.21.) an estimated over 100 million patients and 2 million deaths ( in Croatia over200 000 patients and 5000 deaths) with, in some european countries, a worrying progression that despite the eff orts of the health epidemiological profession is not waning. However, with the drastic measures taken by the National Staff , the situation with the pandemic at the end of January 2021 is gradually easing, which allows for a cautious relaxation of measures. Following this is the announcement of further cautious easing of measures with the intention that Croatia, as a “corona free” destination, welcomes the upcoming tourist season on which the entire Dalmatian and whole Croatian economy depends.

| RESILIENCE OF REGIONAL EMPLOYMENT, UNEMPLOYMENT AND PARTICIPATION IN THE REPUBLIC CROATIA | Author : Sanja Cupic, Vinko Muštra | Abstract | Full Text | Abstract :Significant turbulences of the global economy in the recent period have had heterogeneous consequences at the local and regional level. This has been in focus of the scientific community, resulting in the promotion of the concept of resilience as the ability of a particular system to adapt during and after a particular negative shock. The analysis of labor market resilience at the county level in the Republic of Croatia included an analysis of the resistence and elasticity of these markets through the prism of employment, unemployment and participation. Empirical results highlighted Zadar County as the most resistant regional labor market in the Republic of Croatia. At the same time, the heterogeneity of the remaining results pointed to the complexity of labor market relations, as well as the clear need for further research. |
| CYBER SECURITY INVESTMENT | Author : Dujam Kovac | Abstract | Full Text | Abstract :Accelerated development of technologies and their more frequent application within business organizations create numerous advantages in terms of speed of execution and automation of business processes, easier access and exchange of information, performing business activities remotely, easier access to markets, reducing business costs, etc. At the same time, business organizations are exposed to cyber risks and threats that are becoming more diverse, more complex and are growing steadily. Various forms of cyber risks are manifested through the compromise of information systems of business organizations, which can cause signifi cant direct and indirect fi nancial losses. Although there are growing vulnerabilities to cyber risks, especially in terms of their intensity of impact on the operations of organizations, there is still a lack of cyber security management activities. Many business organizations ignore or underestimate cyber risks or rely on generic security products. Despite the fact that cyber risks are becoming an increasingly important factor infl uencing the operations of organizations and their performance, research in the economic literature and in its narrower field of risk management is not adequately represented. The aim of this paper is to provide an overview of research in the field of investing in cyber security as a loss control, which is an indispensable prerequisite for confidentiality, availability and integrity of information and information systems. Furthermore, the aim of this paper is to compare investment in cyber security with the method of financial control and emphasize the importance of combining these two methods in achieving cyber security. |
| PROBABILITY DISTRIBUTION SELECTION USING PROMETHEE GDSS METHOD | Author : Tea Šestanovic, Zoran Babic | Abstract | Full Text | Abstract :Rising inequalities between countries are widely investigated. Since they involve different aspects, in this paper they are examined through the distribution of countries’ growth and development, inclusion and intergenerational equity and sustainability. These aspects involve variables that are not normally distributed so different probability density functions (PDFs) have been proposed, tested and compared through literature. This paper compares different PDFs that are considered successful in describing distribution of the variables involved, as Weibull, gamma, lognormal, normal, loglogistic, Pareto, Burr and exponential. They are usually compared using diff erent goodness-of-fit measures including the log-likelihood, sum of squared errors, sum of absolute errors and chi-square statistics which can sometimes lead to divergent conclusions. This paper adds up to these goodness-of-fit measures and includes the Kolmogorov-Smirnov, Cramer-von Mises and Anderson-Darling statistics, the mean absolute and squared deviation between theoretical and empirical PDF, the mean absolute and squared deviation between theoretical and empirical cumulative distribution function, AIC and BIC as well as the deviation in skewness and kurtosis. Since diff erent distributions can be considered as alternatives and goodness-of-fit measures as conflicting criteria, the problem of finding the appropriate PDF can be viewed as multiple criteria decision making problem which can be solved using PROMETHEE method. However, diff erent preference parameters, lead to different ranking, so the final decision is obtained using PROMETHEE Group Decision Support System (GDSS) method. This paper therefore contributes to the existing literature on inequalities between countries and statistics in general by proposing a new approach for distribution modelling and selection. |
| APPLICATION AND SIGNIFICANCE OF THE VIDEO GAME LOCALIZATION PROCESS | Author : Rea Tot, Ivan Dunder | Abstract | Full Text | Abstract :With the rapid development and great growth in popularity of video games, the video game industry has undergone a significant process of globalization in recent years. Video games are an essential factor in the digital entertainment industry today and attract many players, regardless of gender, age, social, political or economic status. This popularity and rapid development of video games is leading to the growing need for companies to make their video games available to as many people as possible in order to achieve a high return on fi nancial investments. Therefore, there is an obvious desire and need for video games to be tailored to all potential users, wherever they are. This is an extremely important factor in player satisfaction, and as such is very important in overcoming the language barrier, promoting the company’s international image and achieving good business results. But this means that the video game needs to be adapted to a large number of languages, cultural diff erences, ways of speaking and thinking, and at the same time to remove everything that is not suitable for the target market. One of the possible solutions for adapting to the international market is certainly localization, the application of which seeks to meet the needs of all players and markets. Video games, however, have specific features that distinguish them from other media, as they focus on player interactions and graphic elements of a game, which is unique compared to translating a novel or film. This paper provides an overview of video game adaptation strategies and the characteristics of the adaptation flow, with special emphasis on the localization approach as well as problems and open issues in the process of adapting video games to the international market. |
| THEORETICAL ASPECTS OF CORPORATE COMMUNICATION AND ITS COMPONENTS | Author : Edi Luketa | Abstract | Full Text | Abstract :Corporate communication in its essence is the concept of comprehensive communication of a business organization with stakeholders. Given its importance in the implementation of modern business trends and processes, it has become an integral element in all business organizations and one of the key management functions in corporate business systems. The aim of this paper was to gain an overview of the most relevant scientific theories of corporate communication and its basic components. Despite the scientists who have defi ned it by numerous theories, due to its comprehensiveness, to this day, no agreement has been reached by the scientifi c community on a basic scientifi c defi nition. The added value of this paper is an insight into the theories of the most eminent scientific authorities for the purpose of reviewing the comprehensiveness of the field and considering further scientific research. Putting the available theories in the context of the speed of business and technological changes to which business organizations must adapt, it can be concluded that corporate communication will follow the processes of adaptation which will certainly result in new scientific interpretations and thus make it difficult for the scientific community to agree on basic scientific theory. |
| GROS INGRATITUDE AS A REASON OF REVOKING GIFTS | Author : Alen Lalic, Ivan Rancic | Abstract | Full Text | Abstract :Contracts that do not contain any shortcomings, and are fully fulfilled, in practice can rarely be terminated, all because of the civil principle that the contract is a statutory relationship between the parties. The gift contract is an exception, because it can be terminated through the institute of revocation of the gift, although it does not contain any defect, and is fully fulfilled. The gratuitousness of the gift contract is the reason why the legislator enables the termination of the fulfi lled and valid gift contract. The Law on Obligations recognizes two reasons for revocation based either on the fact that the material circumstances on the part of the donor subsequently changed so much that the material existence of the donor is endangered, or on the fact that the other party is guilty of terminating the contract. The guilt of the other party or the donee does not refer to the guilt regarding the content of the gift contract and its fulfillment, because the contract is duly fulfi lled. It is moral that the donee is grateful for the gift made, and that he does not take actions towards the donor that would lead to a signifi cant disruption of mutual relations. However, the same donee forgets his “moral obligation”, and after the gift is made, he begins to behave in a rude and immoral way towards the donor. That is why it is possible for the donor to revoke the donation contract through the institute due to gross ingratitude, which requires the fairness, even though the contract is fulfilled, because it is immoral for such a donee to keep what he received for free from the donor. The aim of this paper is to develop the concept of revocation of gifts due to gross ingratitude under the provisions of the current Law on Obligations. The present paper will also elaborate the notion of gross ingratitude according to the legal rules of OGZ, all considering that the same rules are (still) applicable to those gift contractual relations that arose before the entry into force of the current Law on Obligations. |
| BUSINESS-RELATED TERMINATION OF EMPLOYMENT CONTRACT IN VIEW OF JUDICIAL PRACTICE | Author : Damir Juras, Anamarija Buzolic Mrklic | Abstract | Full Text | Abstract :The employer may give the employee a business-related termination of employment contract if the need to perform a particular job ceases for economic, technical or organizational reasons. The employer must take into account the criteria prescribed by law then, he can specify additional criteria which will be taken into account when selecting worker which becomes redundant due to the termination of a particular job. A worker, whose employment contract has been terminated, is entitled to a notice period and severance pay. The paper contains extensive jurisprudence of procedure and conditions for giving a business-related termination of an employment contract. The court cannot valuate a validity of economic, technical or organizational changes’ implementation because it falls within autonomous authority of the employer, but the court is empowered to determine whether the reasons for business-related dismissal of a worker were justifi ed and whether the employer terminated the employee’s employment contract in the manner prescribed by law. |
| HIGHER EDUCATION MARKET SEGMENTATION | Author : Boris Marjanovic, Marino Uceta | Abstract | Full Text | Abstract :The paper analyzes the issue of identification of market segments in the higher education market. Segmentation is an important tool in achieving competitive advantage especially in mature and highly competitive markets. The higher education market is highly competitive especially in recent times when borders are open and student mobility is extremely accessible and easy to achieve. The market is open and every foreign higher education institution is a serious competitor to the domestic ones in the Republic of Croatia. This research established the existence of seven specific market segments in the higher education market in Croatia based on one of the behavioral criteria, specifically on the benefit criterion. Based on the established factors, Croatian higher education institutions can adjust their own educational service with regard to the specifics of the targeted segments, which can give them an advantage over other competitors in the market. |
