Author : Gabriel Borges da Silva |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :The aim of this paper is to promote a reflection on the forms of sociability and the corresponding rites that can be observed in daily Uruguaiana Popular Market Street (MPU). Backed by data constructed during fieldwork, research discusses the "precarious" constitution of the MPU in its relationship with the Rio de Janeiro municipal government. The latter signed authorizations to carry out trading activities in that location, but in at least two decades this regulatory framework does not serve as parameters for the activities developed there. The experiences in that space -a symbiosis of acts, gestures and ways of doing things -contributing to the construction of rules of coexistence, which are shared by the "natives". These, added to daily events, serve as the foundation for the rules that govern the activities in that space. This communication therefore seek to present these relationships in a descriptive way, questioning the use of categories and analyzing the social representations adjacent to such contexts. |

Among the techniques of corrective osteotomies, the technique of osteotomy and leveling of the tibial plateau (Tibial PlateauLevelingOsteotomy -TPLO), which is being considered a gold standard for the surgical treatment of cranial cruciate ligament rupture. The present study had the objective of reporting the use of the TPLO technique in the surgical treatment of an 18 year old female dog, attended at a private veterinary clinic in Rio de Janeiro affected by RLCCr (rupture of the cranial cruciate ligament). |

Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :Despite the wide use, stethoscopes are not being well maintained with regard to basic care for its handling, carring potentially pathogenic bacteria and contributing as an infection vector. Among the bacteria methicillin resistant staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is found frequently in these instruments bringing risk to patients inside hospitals. This study aims to determine the level of bacterial contamination of stethoscopes by S. aureus among health professionals of a university hospital in Rio de Janeiro. Health professionals were selected randomly from August to November 2012, and samples collected on 105 stethoscopes used by them whith the use of sterile swab and cultures performed and identification of bacteria.Bacterial contamination was present in 87 (82.9%) of the analyzed stethoscopes. In 76 (72.4%) there was growth of Gram positive bacteria, among these were identified 24 (22.9%) of coagulase-negative Staphylococci , eight (7.6%) with S. aureus, seven (6.7%)beta-lactamic resistant Staphylococcus aureusthese samples. It can be conclude that there is massive bacterial contamination in medical instruments. These microorganisms can be carries in intra hospital environment. The care of such instruments has impactful and decisive characteristics in the evolution of the patients condition. |

A produção de provas com material genético descartado |

Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :This study aims to analyze the production of evidence with genetic material discarded through two cases of great repercussion in the Brazilian media, in order to discuss the occurrence of relativization of fundamental rights that occurred with the decisions of magistrates who, in the Majority of cases base their decisions in favor of criminal prosecution and social welfare. This is a bibliographical research based on relevant doctrine and jurisprudence on the subject treated, in order to clarify some possible gaps with the use of the qualitative method. Through the analysis performed, we can perceive the negative results that these decisions tend to generate. We then observed, at the first moment, the evaluation of the test produced with the discarded DNA and then the collision of the principles. The solution to the problem of collision of principle was Robert Alexys theory of weighting, but this was not applied in its original form, which occurred through the evaluation of principles to weigh its values. We also evaluated how the weighting of principles could be detrimental to the Brazilian legal system. |

Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :Cryptorchidism in horses is a relatively common condition characterized by failure of the testes to progress, where one or both are retained in the abdominal cavity or stopped in the inguinal tract. With its enigmatic etiology, many theories have been proposed, but its hereditary nature is recognized. These animals, even having a retained testicle, have similar behavior to that of a stallion not affected by the pathology, since the retained testicles secrete testosterone at approximately normal values. Orchiectomy is indicated to prevent the reproduction of these cryptorchid horses. Theaims to describe a review of the literature on cryptorchidism and report the case of anequine with eight-year-old presented left testicle retained in the inguinal region, whose treatment was orchiectomy with emasculator. |

Author : Guilherme Alexandre Moreira Cotrim, Joaquim Esquerdo Ferreira |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :Among the reproductive diseases of bovine females, uterine infections deserve attention because they cause a low reproductive efficiency and generate important economic losses. Cows with uterine infections show an increase in the interval between calving, causing costs to the farmer due to treatment expenses, milk disposal and possible involuntary discarding of the animals. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of intrauterine antibiotic therapy in cows from rural areas in Valença –RJ, Rio das Flores –RJ andSanta Barbara do Monte Verde –MG. Postpartum cows diagnosed with uterine infection were divided into two groups randomly, a control group and a group treated with uterine infusion of gentamicin. There was no statistical difference betweenthe groups by the chi-square test with significance level of 5%. It was verified that this disease reaches manyanimals of the dairy herd and that the treatment with the intrauterine antibiotic therapy did not present satisfactory results in the conditions in which the study was carried out. |

Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :The reproductive efficiency of the bovine herd can be measured by obtaining several indices, such as the calving interval, the pregnancy rates and the period of service. The use of indexes to evaluate efficiency in dairy farming has been a constant practice, aiming at increasing profitability in livestock farming. The objective of this work was to carry out a survey of zootechnical indexes of dairy herds in the Paraíba Valley and to compare the reproductive efficiency of the studied herds, estimating the losses in the milk production and the calving of calves in function of the results. The average length of service, calving interval, production average per cow day, lactation period, percentage of lactating cows, percentage of lactating cows in the total herd, average milk production per hectare/year and some general information on the properties such as daily production, feeding system, cows blood level, number of heads of the herd, area used for production, number of employees, use of expansion tank and mechanical milking machine. All ratios raised are below desirable rates for profitable dairy activity. |

Hérnia perineal em cadela: Relato de caso |
Author : Júlia Alves Schmitz, Mariana G. A. Paiva, Marcelo de Oliveira Henriques |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :The perineal hernia results from weakening and separation of the muscles and fascia that form the pelvic diaphragm, promoting caudal displacement of abdominal or pelvic organs in the perineum. The exact cause of this weakness is still unknown, but some factors have been proposed as neurogenic or senile muscular atrophy, myopathies, swelling of the prostate, hormonal changes and chronic constipation. It is most commonly found in male older dogs (seven to fourteen years). In females, causes related to the occurrence of perineal hernias are associated with changes in collagen structure or trauma. This low incidence in females is linked to the fact that in females, the levator ani muscle is more powerful, thick and wide, and there is a larger contact area of this muscle with the wall of the rectum when compared with males. The aim of this task is to report the case of a nine-year Yorkshire female dog that had perineal hernia. |
