Impact of reformed RM Encoded data on PAPR of Multicode CDMA under MSK |
Author : S. Rizwan-ul- Hasan |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :In this research work, the effect of Reformed
Reed Muller Encoded Data (RRMED) on Peak to Average Power
Ratio (PAPR) of Multicode Code Division Multiple Access
(MC-CDMA) systems was studied under Minimum Shift Keying
(MSK) modulation. Simulation studies revealed that
implementation of RRMED on PAPR with MSK modulation can
save up to 7dB of transmitter power compared to the un-coded
PAPR of MC-CDMA systems.
Simulation results further proved that MSK modulation also
plays an important role in reducing PAPR as compared to binary
Phase Shift Keying (PSK). |

SSUET Parking Facility, A Case Study; Current Scenario, Future Needs and Proposed Solution |
Author : Muhammad Arsalan Saeed |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :This paper presents results of a study carried out
for planning a parking facility in order to mitigate traffic
congestion problem on Sardar Ali Sabri Road near Sir Syed
University of Engineering & Technology (SSUET) Chowk in
Gulshan-e-Iqbal town of Karachi city. American Association of
State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO)
guidelines were used in planning of the parking facility. The
planned parking facility has capacity to accommodate around
700 cars and 2000 motorcycles. A traffic study has been carried
out to estimate the space required by vehicles for parking in the
SSUET. Data analysis of traffic growth of Karachi city has been
performed to study the co-relation between traffic growth rate of
Karachi and number of parking vehicles in SSUET. It is found
that no such co-relation exists and the city’s traffic has no impact
on number of parking vehicles in SSUET. It is found that the
parameters, affecting growth of parking traffic in SSUET, are
number of departments of the university and number of seats per
discipline allowed by HEC/PEC. Finally, construction of a
parking plaza in SSUET is proposed for improvement of parking
facilities. |

Road User Vulnerability in Traffic Accidents, Featuring Full Day Data Collection – Comprehensive MACRO Analysis Study for the City of Karachi, Pakistan |
Author : Syed Faraz Jafri |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :It is an undoubted truth that the system of
transportation planning is associated with the key parameters of
traffic safety. This focuses the implementation of designed
policies and standards. The relationship between road traffic
accidents and applied infrastructure facilities is proportional.
This imparts the available geometric design considerations,
pavement structure, environmental, human and vehicle
contributory factors. Traffic accidents are also affected on
various 24hrs timings of the day and classified as dawn, daylight,
dusk and dark in different research studies. Each time of the day
has its own characteristics featuring with the driver
performance, site detection, visual acquaintance and information
provided for decision sight distance.
Accidents occurring in various timings with respect to different
types of road users are presented in this research. Possible root
causes with significant recommended measures are the extensive
dimensions of this research study. On the whole, three years data
record is utilized in the analytical part as well. For the sake of
reason, macro analysis tools and techniques are used in order to
justify the results. The results are also formulated highlighting
responsible factors and liaison with the accidents carried out in
morning and dark. |

Controlling Self-Directed Vehicle via Webpage using Raspberry Pi Lighttpd Webserver |
Author : Wajeeh Baloch |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :Internet of Things (IoT) and Tele-Robotics are
most advanced technologies that provide a vision where any
object in this world can be connected to anything else. These
technologies enable us to build communication among various
entities such as Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) devices, home
appliances, medical equipment, RFIDs etc. An intelligent Self-
Directed Vehicle (SDV) incorporated with features of Internet of
Things (IoT) is presented in this work. In order to manually
control the SDV, a web page (embedded with google maps) is
developed and uploaded on Lighttpd server on Raspberry Pi.
Lighttpd server can act like a normal apache server. User can
navigate SDV manually using maneuvering control buttons. The
onboard camera provides visual awareness. This technology can
be utilized and implemented in a number of areas such as
military, where SDV can undertake missions like drone
surveillance, border patrol etc. Furthermore, our work highlights
the use of webservers for interconnecting devices and describes
the use of internet to control SDV from a remote end with
Raspberry Pi Lighttpd Web Server. |

Identification of Factors Affecting Construction Productivity in Pakistan Industry |
Author : Muneer Anees |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :Construction productivity is significant
requirement which is point of focus for every construction
manager. The main purpose of this study is to understand and
highlight the factors which affect the labor productivity in
Pakistan focusing Karachi which is the financial hub of the
country. Karachi generates a big chunk of revenue and
contributes to gross domestic product (GDP) of Pakistan. The
main objective of this study is to identify the main factors
affecting labor productivity of contractor, consultant and
perspective of client. The data collection was carried out by one
hundred sixty (160) questionnaire surveys. The results showed
that feeble management and worst site conditions are solely
responsible for degradation in both efficiency and output of the
project. |
