Author : JUÁREZ M. C., MORALES M. P., MUÑOZ P., MENDÍVIL M. A. |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract : In recent years, several studies about factors influencing the heat transfer in single-leaf walls composed by lightweight ceramic bricks of large format have been made, in order to reduce energy losses. Separate works have highlighted the relevance of some parts composing the wall such as the different types of internal voids in the brick, different types of tongue and groove system and different types of horizontal joint. This paper seeks to integrate these studies in order to give an overview of factors that influence the heat transfer and study the importance of each one of them, from an energy point of view. For this purpose, the influence of every factor in the equivalent thermal transmittance of the external walls of building is compared. It is remarkable that a single-leaf wall built with a geometrically optimized brick and thin horizontal joint gives masonry wall many significant advantages, because the amount of heat flux dissipated through the horizontal mortar joint is greatly reduced. Better insulated walls mean that there is less need to use home heating and cooling systems. This means less energy consumption and a proportional decrease in GHG emissions, in line with the objectives for 2020 set in the EEP. |

Author : LAZAR POPOVICI ELENA, PRAISLER MIRELA, MUSAT MARIA MATHLEN |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :The inclusion of disabled young people in the economic and social life is a transversal objective in all the policies and programmes of the European Community. One way to overcome their handicap is to correct or diminish the physical deficiencies that prevent them from being hired in industrial settings. In most of the cases, mild physical disabilities are easily correctable in terms of regular school activities, if discovered before the modification of the tissue structure. This study presents an exploratory analysis that might help to design the ergonomics of the working areas in which disabled young people could be involved. |

Author : LEOPA ADRIAN |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract : The work in seismic design of bridges is needed to develop physical models and mathematical theory, based on which will be assessed and quantified the dynamic response of bridge structures subjected to stress arising from road traffic or seismic activity. The need for this modeling is imposed three requirements: to ensure the structural integrity of the bridge elements for subjected impulsive, proper choice of dynamic insulation elements placed as a interface between the superstructure and infrastructure, as well as analysis of effects on joints in these situations demand. This paper proposes a physical model of a general nature, enabling customization depending on the specific constructive bridge, or the way it is solicited. Customize this model was developed for this study based on the existing viaduct Transylvania highway located between km 29 +602.75 and km 29 +801.25. |

Author : OLARU IONEL, ALBUŢ AURELIAN, CIUBOTARIU VLAD |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :Brazing is realized by joining the added material to the base material thus it is realised a solid joint between materials. The degree of dissolution of materials used in assembly is very important in realization of sustainable bimetallic joints that can be stamped successfully. The stamping creates areas where joints can give the size and material compression degrees because its variation. A better stamping of these bimetallic brazed plates can be obtained through the exactly determination of these material areas. |

ASSESSMENT OF PALM KERNEL SHELLS AS AGGREGATE IN CONCRETE AND LATERITE BLOCKS |
Author : OWOLABI ADEBAYO |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :Palm kernel shells were assessed as aggregate in concrete and laterite blocks. Results showed that laterite blocks reinforced with kernel shells at the optimum proportion of 1:4 (kernel shells:laterite) by volume were about 15% stronger than plain laterite blocks. The strength of laterite blocks reinforced with kernel shells also compared favorably with strength of sandcrete blocks which are popularly used as partitions in buildings. However, replacement of crushed stone aggregate with kernel shells in concrete blocks resulted in a strength reduction of about 50%. Therefore, palm kernel shells are not good substitutes for crushed stone aggregates in concrete. |

Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :This study shows the benefits of the modern methods application of the predictive maintenance in order to detect and diagnosis of rolling bearings wear. From the large amount of domains where predictive maintenance has been applied, there have been chosen to be case studied the equipment which have rolling bearings as components. Rolling bearings are predisposed to a premature wear because of the execution and mounting quality, of the very numerous cycles of operation, of loading conditions during the production operation, or of the improper lubrication, etc.. By applying modern wear detection methods of rolling bearings, the causes of producing it can be identified and all of them could be set aside in order to get an increasing lifetime of rolling bearings and of the process equipment. |
