Abstract :The decision support systems (DSS) bring facility in communication and cooperation between managers and the ones providing the required information or the ones executing the adopted alternative. The DDSs it's characterized by flexibility and adaptability to changes taking place in the decision making environment. In order to carry out an optimum DSS an organizational strategy is needed, through which this system can be created and its operation ensured. DSS integration is the process through which the system is interlinked and can globally communicate at normal parameters with the other technologies and applications within the information system's architecture of the company. |

MECHANICAL RESPONSE TO DEEP-CRYOGENIC TREATMENT OF ZnO NANOWIRES GROWN ON BULK ZnO COATING |
Author : MARCELLO CABIBBO, DANIELE CICCARELLI |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract : ZnO nanowires are currently used in many application fields. Thermal stability is often a concern in terms of the mechanical response and, in particular, for the elasticity of the nanowires. Literature works focused, to a certain degree, on the nanowires heating response. Anyhow, no experimental data are nowadays available in literature on the low- and very low-temperature exposures. In the present study, deep-cryogenic treatment was performed on vertically aligned ZnO nanowires produced by metal organic chemical vapor deposition. The critical buckling stress and strain of individual nanowires was not significantly influenced by the cryogenic exposure, while the bulk ZnO halved. |

ON A METHOD OF ASSESSMENT OF THE THERMAL TRANSFER BY CONDUCTION IN LAMINATED COMPOSITE |
Author : RADU I. IATAN, GEORGIANA LUMINITA ENACHESCU, IULIANA IASNICU (STAMATE), CARMEN T. POPA |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :The paper explain the thermal conductivity expressions, in stationary regime, in plane, tubular and spherical, laminated composite structures, with intimate connections between layers, having defects, too. We take into account the volumes of the composite components, on the one hand, and those of the materials and fluids, contained in the defects area, on the other hand. In the corresponding relations the influences of some additional layers, representing protections or deposits during operation, are attached. |

DAMAGE AND FRACTURE MECHANICS CONCEPTS IN CALCULATING CYCLICALLY LOADED PRESSURE EQUIPMENT |
Author : VALI-IFIGENIA IORDACHESCU (NICOLOF), TEODOR SIMA |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :In the history of technology there occurred many accidents caused by the presence and propagation of cracks in a mechanical structure, especially cracks in weld seams or already existing in the material. The paper evaluates the damage caused by cracks, the superposition of effects by using fracture mechanics concepts (the stress intensity factor, the contour integral and the crack tip opening displacement), while in the case of superposition fracture modes I and II, the relation was checked against the experimental literature data. |

Author : GABRIELA MUNTIANU, NICOLETA PLATON, VASILICA ALISA ARUS, ANA MARIA ROSU, DENISA ILEANA NISTOR, GHEORGHITA JINESCU |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :The aim of the present study was to establish the optimal operating dynamic parameters in fluidized bed for the sodium clay particles and pillared clay particles. In order to determine the influence of the clay particles on the structure of the fluidized bed, the conditions in which the incipient fluidization appears were determined depending on the: nature, diameter and density of the material, gas velocity and fixed bed height. Experimentally the minimum fluidization velocity, the minimum pressure drop and bed porosity were determined. Correlation relations were established in order to approximate the minimal error for the experimental results. |

Author : SEUN OLUWAJANA, OLUFIKAYO ADERINLEWO, ADEBAYO OWOLABI, SILVANA CROOPE |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :In this paper, the road network of Akure (a city in south western Nigeria) was studied based on its shortest path properties. Three sections, each measuring 1 square mile, were sampled from the entire road network and developed into graphs using both a primal approach and graph theory in which the intersections and streets were represented as nodes and edges respectively. These graphs were assessed for the edge lengths and shortest paths between nodes from which their edge length distributions, average path lengths and efficiencies were also obtained. It was concluded that the city of Akure is self-organized with small world properties since the network case studies showed small path lengths. |

THEORETICAL STUDIES CONCERNING RESIDUAL SOIL POLLUTION BY HEAVY METALS |
Author : CRISTIAN RADU, VALENTIN NEDEFF, ALEXANDRA-DANA CHITIMUS |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :The paper describes a series of theoretical aspects concerning residual soil pollution by heavy metals. Heavy metals, unlike organic and radionuclide pollutants, are considered to be the most persistent/resistant polluting substances in the soil, displaying a tendency for accumulation. The behavior of heavy metals in the soil depends on the physical and chemical properties of the soil, as well as on their origin and source. Knowledge of the properties of heavy metals is very important, having in view the necessity of applying isolation measures for a contaminated site. |

THE INFLUENCE OF THE RECYCLED POLYMERIC MATERIALS VISCO-ELASTICITY ON THE PIPE EXTRUSION HEAD DESIGN |
Author : NICOLETA TEODORESCU, MARIANA-FLORENTINA STEFANESCU, MIHAIL RUSSU, ELENA-BEATRICE TANASE |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :There are summarized the experimental researches, previously performed, concerning viscous-elastic characteristics changes of PP due to recycling. There are presented, comparatively, the results for the virgin and 10 times recycled polypropylene. Using CAD-CAM it is studied the influence of the PP viscous-elastic characteristics changes due to recycling on the pipe extrusion head design, aiming to obtain a good extrusion product (expressed in the given case by the pipe dimensions stability). It resulted that it is compulsory to do experimental research to obtain the actual viscous-elastic properties of the polymer after many times recycles, because these properties affect significantly the output and the annular uniformity of the pipes thickness. |

PARTICLE SIZE DISTRIBUTION OF WHEAT GRIST FRACTIONS IN PLANSIFTER COMPARTMENTS OF A FIVE BREAKS ROLLER MILL SYSTEM |
Author : GHEORGHE VOICU, GABRIEL-ALEXANDRU CONSTANTIN, ELENA-MADALINA STEFAN, PAULA VOICU |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :In wheat milling, it is particularly necessary that the grist particle size-distribution entering and exiting each plansifter compartment of the wheat mill to be determined so that the appropriate geometrical characteristics of flutes, grinding rolls and their functional parameters can be chosen and the characteristics of the sieves braids to be established to optimize flour, middling, and semolina yield and quality of them. The paper presents the particle size-distribution of wheat going through each break, in a five-break roller mill system with a capacity of 4.2 t/h and equipped with a semolina sorting compartment (divisor). The particle size distribution data where fit to the Rosin-Rammler distribution equation. |

Author : IONEL OLARU |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :In this work it was performed a fluid flow study of lubricant and cooling systems in machining process. In machine tools industry is very important to reduce the costs when are using the lubricant and coolant fluids to increase the productivity. It was been performed a simulation of the fluid flow through a nozzle, that nozzle type is commonly used for pressure cooling of the machined area. In these types of nozzles can be made a mixture of two types of fluids, such as air and water, to increase machined productivity and decrease the quantity of lubricant used for cooling systems. |

Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :The vegetable oils and their blends have come across the world as alternative fuel in place of fossil fuels. This paper presents the results of experimentation carried out on a diesel engine with different blends of safflower oil with diesel fuel. Engine tests have been carried out to obtain comparison of fuel consumption, specific fuel consumption, brake thermal efficiency, volumetric efficiency and smoke opacity and compared with that of diesel fuel. From the experimental investigation, the safflower diesel blends show better performance and lower smoke when compared to diesel. With blend B20 the thermal efficiency is increased by 5.2%. |
