The concept of educational research and its principles in the Cuban context |
Author : Evelio Felipe Machado Ramírez |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :The springing up of research on the educational area (also referred to as pedagogic or educational research, aside from certain coloring of the denotational meaning) was originallybeen influenced by a positivistic approach to
research prevailing at that time on the field of natural sciences research. However, in later periods several
approaches have been dominant at one or another period following the philosophical and sociological ideas of the
academic leaders and producing a theoretical framework that is alien to the nature of the context under study.
Thus, the author examines documents and references sources following a historical approach together with the
analysis of current educational practice. The article aims at devising the actual meaning of the concept of
educational research and describing a set of principle as a central issue to warranty the permanence of research
activity at schools and the recognition of its importance in fostering socio-educative conditions, and systemic
developmental professional performance. |

Author : Raúl Tomás De Miranda Rangel; Enrique Loret de Mola López |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :The paper aims at describing a methodology on the basis of multidimensional independent study of Ecological Genetics contents as a component of the formative process of Biology teachers and its corresponding phases. It starts by presenting a framework that, together with empirical methods, makes it possible to systematize and conceptualize the terms of multidimensional learning tasks and poly-perspective self-management of independent learning; additionally, it argues the importance of viewing education and instruction in Ecological Genetics as a complex system. The methodology is currently being used with senior students of careers related to biology. It was previously assessed by field specialist and graded with high ranks. The main finding is the proposed methodology, characterized by the multidimensional approach of independent work, that comprises several dimensions of the educational process: students’ prior knowledge, individual metacognitive strategies, personal objectives and commitment. To achieve such purposes, the authors are proposing a methodology of their own based on the multidimensional adductive progression method. |
