The Flat Characters of Rind and Zahid Pursuant to Divan of Istanbullu Eshref |
Author : Betul Elmaci |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :There is a conflict between the flat characters of rind and zahid in
Turkish Classical Literature. In this literature, poets have written lots of poems
in a rindish tone and sided against zahid. Rind is honest, contented, fearless,
and he cares about internality instead of exteriority. On the other hand, zahid is
rudimentary and unaware of the gist of Islam. At the same time he is sketchily
sermonizer, gossipmonger, and babbler. While the flat character of zahid takes
madrasas side and prioritizes the mind, rind takes the side of dervish convent
(or tavern) and he remains in the heart. In this study, an overall assessment is
going to be made on the flat characters of rind and zahid. In addition, we are
going to compile and try conveying some couplets and their interpretations
about the flat characters of rind and zahid from Divan of Istanbullu Eshref,
written on 19th Century.

Author : Ibrahim Sulaiman |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :Several linguistic elements involve in the production of general and
private meaning of the text, starting from voice through the morphological and
grammatic structure, to the text surrounded with various actors in production of
meaning. Language is not a set of words, but a set of relations. Linguistic
phenomenon is that the intended meaning doesnt appear or become clear
through language dictionaries, which often only mention some meanings
depending on some contexts. But the dictionaries could be sources to determine
the linguistic phenomenon if the words are not mentioned in specific text or
within a given context. The beauty of the speech doesnt arise from the
independent words but from the way of composition and association with each
other. This paper attempts to identify the elements (sound grammatical and
contextual and morphological) that share among themselves to make clear the
intended meaning by the structure or composition up to the realization of the
intended meaning from text.
