Method: A descriptive cross-sectional study, was conducted at three private dialysis centers (n:17) and nine dialysis units of goverment hospitals (n:28) in Çanakkale. The study sample consisted of 38 volunteer nurse who worked in haemodialysis units. Descriptive data form, maslach burnout inventory and
empathic skill scale were used to collect the information. For evaluation of the data, percentage analysis and spearman correlation anaysis was used.
Result: The mean age of the nurses was 31.34±7.08. 140.21±22.64 scores of empathic skills scale was detected for nurses included in the study. Emotional exhaustion subscale mean scores of the heamodialysis nurses were 25.08±6.65; depersonalization subscale mean scores were 9.63±3.19; and personal accomplishment subscale mean scores were 30.29±3.60. Significant relation was founded between empathic skills scale and Emotional exhaustion subscale, epersonalization subscale and personal accomplishment subscale (p<0.01).
Conclusion: It was found that there is negatif and statistically significant correlation between empathic skill scale and emotional exhaustion subscale and depersonalization subscale; pozitif and statistically significant correlation between empathic skill scale and personal accomplishment subscale. |
| Retrospective Evaluation of the Incipient Peritoneal Dialysis Patients | Author : Gülay BINGÖL1 , Eylem TOPBAS2 , Öznur GÖRGEN1 , Nimet FERAHOGLU3 , Lale AKKAYA4 | Abstract | Full Text | Abstract :Aim: The aim of this study is to investigate the conditions of the patients who started peritoneal dialysis in a year between the years 2016-2017.
Method: Population of the research consists of patients at the peritoneal dialysis unit of the hospitals in Amasya (n=12) and Sivas (n=5 ). Sample of the study consists of patients who started PD in 2016-2017 (n=17). Data is gathered retrospectively by using “PD patient evaluation form”, which is prepared with the guidance of the registry report of Turkey Nephrology, Dialysis and Transplation Association.
Results: In the last two years, PD catheter was applied to 12 patients at the center which started providing PD service recently and to 5 patients in a university
which provides PD for 20 years. It was detected that the ethiology of %41.1 of the patients were diabetic nephropathy, permeability of the membrans of %52.9 of them were low-to-mid levels, Kt/V urea values of %70.5 were above 2, serum
albumin levels of %76.4 were between 3.5-4, blood pressure of %41.1 of them were in normal range, %52.9 used calcium antagonists and Hb levels of %70.5 were 10.0-11.9gr/dl. It was also detected that %94.1 of the patients did not use
iron medication, %52.9 used erythropoietin and %35.2 are still using it. Serum phosphor levels of %52.9 were 4.5-5.49 mg/dl, PTH levels of %41.17 were between 300-600 pg/ml and no patient had fractures. It was also detected that patients did not go through peritonitis, %47 had ultrafiltration problems and
%11.76 were transferred to haemodialysis due to mechanical complications. Common complaints of the patients were inappetency, nausea, edema and astenia. The reasons for calling the nurses were usually problems about drainage,
oral medication use, PD device and catheter.
Conclusion: It was detected that PD patients who did not go through severe complications such as hipoalbuminemia, hyperphosphatemia, anemia, contagious disease, fracture of peritonitis. This makes the treatment of peritoneal dialysis
advantageous.
