Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract : In this study, poverty is calculated for various socioeconomic classes in Mersin and Erzurum provinces by using multidimensional poverty approach and then the findings are analyzed comparatively. While the multidimensional poverty measurement methodology is drawn on as a calculation of poverty (Alkire and Foster, 2007; 2011a), the definition of socioeconomic classes are based on theoretical assumptions used in Köse, Pınar, and Bahçe (2009) and Günaydın (2011). The results of this analysis show that the class with the highest poverty rate under all poverty lines is the petty bourgeois. The second class with the higher rates is working classes. When the poverty of the qualified working class is added, working class actually represents the poorest class. |

As a result, some numerical examples with solutions are given for the developed models. |

Ecological Sustainability and Degrowth |
Author : Gönül Turgut |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract : Ecological sustainability recently has become a crucial matter of discussion. The sustainable development, which has been denoted as a solution to the threat of the ecological crisis, endorses the idea that the ecological problems can be overcome within the limits of the prevailing economic paradigm. On the contrary, this prevailing paradigm is based on the increasing production and consumption which jeopardise a possible solution. De-growth literature and movement is an emerging debate on the questions that arise from the ecological sustainability perspective and it represents an alternative conceptualisation of the ecological problem. In this point of view, the solution to ecological problem is only possible within a new social order that is based on less production and less consumption, namely de-growth. In this manner, also it might be possible to alleviate the social inequalities globally. |

Elaboration Likelihood Model and an Analysis of the Contexts of Its Application |
Author : Aslıhan Kıymalıoğlu |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract : Elaboration Likelihood Model (ELM), which supports the existence of two routes to persuasion: central and peripheral routes, has been one of the major models on persuasion. As the number of studies in the Turkish literature on ELM is limited, a detailed explanation of the model together with a comprehensive literature review was considered to be contributory for this gap. The findings of the review reveal that the model was mostly used in marketing and advertising researches, that the concept most frequently used in elaboration process was involvement, and that argument quality and endorser credibility were the factors most often employed in measuring their effect on the dependant variables. The review provides valuable insights as it presents a holistic view of the model and the variables used in the model. |
