HISTORICAL DEVELOPMENT OF REGIONAL POLITICS AND DEVELOPMENT AGENCIES AS A NEW MODEL |
Author : Battal YILMAZ |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract : The appearance of regional development agencies goes up to 19th century, namely up to Classical School. In the period from 19th century to 1919 Great Economical Crisis, nations didn‟t think „local‟ term positively because they saw it as a threat to national unity. In the process passed from 1929 Economical Crisis to 1975 Oil Crisis, traditional development politics were dominant. After 1973 Oil Crisis, new development policies appeared with its new content. The most important mechanical tool of these politics is Development Agencies. |

DESIGN OF EXPERIMENTS FOR PRODUCT AND PROCESS DEVELOPMENT: AN APPLICATION IN FOOD PRODUCTION SECTOR |
Author : Özlem HASGÜL |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract : The aim of this paper is to use of design of experiments to develop products and processes and to contribute to use it more commonly. In this work, the basic principles related to design of experiments is explained and 2^3 factorial design set up for food production sector has been constructed. After that, products have been cooked on hot own oven under different process conditions to study their effect on product weight. |

THE IMPLEMENTATION OF TAGUCHI METHOD TO OPTIMIZATION OF ROBOTIC GAS METAL ARC WELDING |
Author : A. Gamze ÇİFTÇİ AYTEKİN |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract : Today, with two or more response by analyzing the effects on the quality of the product and accordingly determines the best combination of approaches have gained importance revealing. One of these approaches is a method of Taguchi Design of Experiments. In this method, unlike the classic experimental design factors and levels to be changed one at a time instead of changing the experiments carried out simultaneously. In this study, the experimental design method which has proven success in the optimization problems and ensures the quality of product at the design stage, is analyzed. An experimental design technique using orthogonal arrays to reduce number of experiments greatly and to minimize the impact of uncontrollable factors by identifying the factors that may cause loss of quality Taguchi Method is applied to robotic gas metal welding process and the results of the model are interpreted. |

CAUSALITY ANALYSIS OF ECONOMIC GROWTH, ELECTRICITY CONSUMPTION AND EMPLOYMENT IN MANUFACTURING INDUSTRY: EXAMPLES OF TURKEY |
Author : Tayfur BAYAT, A.Fahimi AYDIN, Selim KAYHAN, Uğur ADIGÜZEL |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract : In this study, we investigate casual relationship between GNP, electricity consumption and employment in manufacturing industry. To investigate the stationarity nature of the time series Augmented Dickey Fuller and Dickey Fuller – GLS unit root test to see are conducted. To examine relationship between variables Toda – Yamamoto and Dolado – Lüktepohl causality tests are used. The results of Lee – Strazicich unit root test showed that there are structural breaks in 90‟s for each variables. However, the causality analysis of Dolado – Lüktepohl and Toda – Yamamoto imply that there has been a causality running from employment in manufacturing industry to gross national product and from gross national product to electricity consumption in manufacturing industry. |

CHANGING MANAGERIAL VALUES BETWEEN GENERATIONS IN FAMILY BUSINESSES |
Author : Yavuz Tansoy YILDIRIM |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract : In societies that face social change , not only tangible but also spiritual have factors such as values have shown variations. The aim of this study is to investigate whether there are differences in managerial values between generations. If there is any difference, the aim is to determine the reasons of these differences. In this framework, total 261 persons of which 111 first generation and 150 second generation that were economically active in South Marmara region selected and performed a research study on these group of people based on survey technics. The data obtained in this survey were used is factor analysis. The analysis resulted with dimensions of traditionalism, entrepreneurship, hypocricy, rationalism, modesty and centralization. The differences have been observed in the dimension of traditionalism and centralization between the first and second generations within the perspective of managerial values. |

FACILITY LOCATION SELECTION AT A SHOPPING CENTER WITH FUZZY ANALYTIC HIERARCHY PROCESS |
Author : Zehra BAŞKAYA, Burcu AVCI ÖZTÜRK |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract : The best facility location is the best place where provides all necessary economic, social, environmental and technical conditions for business‟s production or sale activities. The mistakes in selection of facility location cause some problems about the return of investment. There are so many criterias that must be taken into consideration in facility location selection. These criterias differ from sector to sector. Most of the choices are qualitative for selection decisions. In this study, a new shop‟s facility location problem in a shopping center chain, evaluated with Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process (FAHP). The most convenient location selected between three candidate shops, towards the criterias determinated by decision makers. |

MEASURING THE PERFORMANCE OF PORTFOLIO’S FORMED WITH BLACK LITTERMAN MODEL AND MARKOWITZ MEAN VARIANCE MODEL |
Author : Tuncer ÇALIŞKAN |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract : This study aims to measure the performance of portfolios formed with Markowitz Mean-Variance Model and Black Litterman model by using the Sharpe, Treynor and Jensen indexes. The data set used in this study covers daily corrected prices of 17 firm‟s listed on ISE for the period between 2003 and 2009. By using Markowitz Mean Variance Model and Black Litterman Model, 13 portfolios are formed. Performance of the portfolios are evaluated with Sharpe, Treynor and Jensen Performance indexes. |
