Abstract : In this paper, we investigate the determiners of the interest rates that have real and financial effects on and are important for the balance of budget. The determiners of interest rates are classified as internal and external factors. While testing the cointegrated and long run relationship among variables, monthly data that covers 1996-2004 period has been used. Results show that the main factors influencing the interest rates are internal factors as government spending, inflation, and real income. Author : Özlem KIZILGÖL |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract : In this paper, it is investigated that whether or not a long-term relation exists between growth rate and unemployment rate. To this end, Johansen (1988) method was used to estimate the cointegration relation between the two variables via six month data covering 1988:2-2006:1 period. As to the consequences acquired, one long-term or equilibrium relation exists between growth rate and unemployment rate. Hsiao (1981)’s Granger causality test (FPE criterion) and Granger causality tests conducted via VECM indicate the existence of only one causality relation from unemployment rate to growth rate. |

Explaining the concept of market orientation just as satisfying customer needs and wants would not be adequate. Market orientation is not just dealing with the customer; employees should also be taken into the consideration as a major stakeholder. Organization’s identity affects the market orientation style of the organization. Organizational identity plays a crucial role in explaining business attitudes and behavior towards its market. For this reason when the market orientation is not one of the characteristics of organizational identity, it can constitute a barrier against market orientation. Study provides conceptual framework of market orientation and organizational identity and analyzes the role of organizational identity on market orientation |

Author : Rahmi YAMAK, Ferhat TOPBAŞ |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract : In this study which is purposed to give a different point of view to the concept of quality and the rank in the Turkish Higher Education System, departments of economics in forty-two universities have been investigated for the relative value-added created by them to their students. The main factor accounted in establishing the league is the average raw points of the universities in the Selection Examination for Civil Servants (KPSS). The rank made by this study is an indicator for the efficiency of the activities of education provided by the universities. The university league established in this study provides very interesting results. The Universities of Gaziantep and Erciyes are appeared to be the most successful universities for 2004 and 2005 respectively in the rank. However, some of the big and famous universities are appeared to be among the unsuccessful universities which have created relatively negative value-added to their students. |
