Resistência à fratura de dentes com pinos intra-radiculares sob carga cíclica: uma revisão crítica. | Author : Thiago REGINATTO; Cezar Augusto GARBIN; Deborah Meirelles COGO; Lilian RIGO | Abstract | Full Text | Abstract : The first prefabricated posts that appeared in the market were made of stainless steel or of gold covered bronze. After that period, titanium posts were introduced and, more recently, the ones made of fiber, reinforced by resin or ceramic. Depending on factors as remaining dental structure, the use of different posts can be considered. The failures found in teeth restored with posts and cores are commonly associated to the root fracture. Therefore, the objective of this critical literature review was to evaluate the root posts that have been currently used, and to compare their results regarding the fracture resistance, when submitted to cyclic loading. In order to accomplish this, experimental in vitro studies developed in the period between 2001 and 2008 were selected from an electronic data base (BBO, Lilacs, Pubmed, Cochrane, Scielo), and then, a table was made from it. It was concluded that, regardless of the kind of post and core, most fractures happen when the teeth are submitted to static loading, and not during cyclic loading. When the teeth are protected from parafunctional loads the dental post systems currently used offer great safety. |
| Esclerose múltipla: o perfil de uma disfunção neurológica misteriosa. | Author : Jaqueline Pereira GUIMARÃES; João Paulo Ferreira SCHOFFEN | Abstract | Full Text | Abstract : The aim of this paper was to perform a literature review describing the main physicpathologic changes, the possible causes, symptoms and treatment of multiple sclerosis (ME). This pathology has as characteristics the loss of myelin sheath of the neurons in the central nervous system, appearing hard zones in different areas of the brain and the spinal chord followed by sore, edema and the sprain of cells, which jeopardizes the nervous impulse transmission, causing a variable range of neurological deficits that can be shown as paresthesia, weakness in the limbs, difficulty on walking, neuritis-optical, diplopia, motor. |
| Fitoterapia na promoção de saúde e o seu uso na prática clínica da acupuntura. | Author : Carla Suzi EMERENCIANO; Ana Paula Serra de ARAÚJO | Abstract | Full Text | Abstract : This study aimed to conduct a literature review on the use of Phytotherapy as a method of promoting health so as to drive the thinking and acting of the area of health professionals on the use of this method of treatment, especially with regard to Fitoterapia of use in combination with Acupuncture. Bearing in mind that in recent decades, there has been an increasing use of Phytotherapy and Acupuncture by the population, and methods for health promotion in their various levels of care (primary, secondary and tertiary). In this study we could observe that the publications are scarce regarding the use of Acupuncture and Phytotherapy together to promote health. Once found only 4 complete trials on this combination of foreign journals published in Spanish. Which showed that during the clinical practice of the acupuncturist and widely used in combination Phytotherapy with the technique of Auricular Therapy, mainly for the treatment of Systemic arterial hypertension (HSA) and anxiety, as found among the 4 studies, the 4 (100 %) were related to the association of these 3 (75%) were for the treatment of hypertension and 1 (25%) the treatment of anxiety. Become evident in this study that there is a need to conduct clinical studies "practical" to address the therapeutic efficacy of the combination of Acupuncture with Phytotherapy as methods of promoting health and that such studies are published. |
| Histórico sobre a vacina contra o rotavírus. | Author : Ana Paula Sanches HAYAKAWA; Renata Alessandra SADOWSKI; Maria Idalina Marques FERNANDES | Abstract | Full Text | Abstract : It is about a literature review about vaccination against the human rotavirus. The goal is to know the generation of the vacin against the rotavirus and its effects up to the used vacin nowadays. The rotavirus is a virus that causes strong diarrhea, as well as fever and nausea, and that targets mainly children unders five years of age and adults less often. It’s a disease not related to basic sanitary conditions, but yes to contact among human beings. Every year, around 125 million people have diarrhea due to the rotavirus, which ends up causing between 600.000 to 870.000 deaths per year. Due to these numbers, it has been developed it the early 80’s a vaccine against the rotavirus, that being from animal origin. In 1998 this vaccine hás been release in the US, but after its release there were notifications to the health and safety department after its use 15 causes of intestinal adversities, culminating in its suspension from use in 1999, till further research was made. Despite the let downs, the pharmaceutical company’s Glaxo Smith Kline and Merck tested new medicine in more than 69.000 children in 11 countries by Glaxo Smith Kline, to develop a new vaccine. The vaccine implemented in Brazil works with two stages, the first one being two months after brith, and the second, at four months of age, through oral solution. |

| Inflamação: história, tipos e causas. | Author : Luis Fernando de PAULO; Aline ANTUNES; Milene Dalilla CAETANO; Thiago Nageia SCHULTZ; Daiane Pereira CAMACHO; Renata Bianco CONSOLARO | Abstract | Full Text | Abstract : Inflammation is characterized by the body's response so far to healthy aggression suffered by an external agent, with the development of the response has been the recruitment of the defense system of the body injured and consequent leakage of fluid and cells from inside the vessel until the location of the lesion, with the goal of eliminating the offending agent and return to its normal state region. This work was developed with the aim of using literature review get elucidate the steps involved in the inflammatory process, as this process is characterized by the response to the aggressor efficiently. At the end of that work, and after intense study of the texts published on the subject, it was observed that the inflammatory process is effective against the offending agent and may be short or long-term, and except for the characterization of the type of agent in question, the size of inflammatory lesions and also the responsiveness of the body injured. |
| Importância do ácido fólico. | Author : Ariella Andrade MARCHIORO; Anacharis Babeto de SÁ-NAKANISHI. Paula Aline Zanetti CAMPANERUT | Abstract | Full Text | Abstract :Folic acid is a micronutrient that acts as a coenzyme necessary for cellular proliferation, the homocysteine-methionine cycle and metabolism of amino acids. This work was conducted through a literature review and was to describe the importance of folic acid in various stages of life. Many studies have demonstrated the importance of this vitamin during pregnancy, as well its therapeutic application in cardiovascular diseases, neurological diseases and some types of cancer. In pregnancy, the administration of folate is important because this stage the demand of the icronutrient is increased. The use of folic acid in therapy of coronary disease reduces the levels of homocysteine. Its application in neuropathology probably occurs by increasing the concentration of serotonin in the synaptic cleft and also by its antioxidant action. Already in cancer treatment, are commonly used in chemotherapy antifolate drug, which blocks the synthesis of DNA of the tumor cell. |
| Envelhecimento cutâneo: teoria dos radicais livres e tratamentos visando a prevenção e o rejuvenescimento. | Author : Ana Paula TESTON; Deise NARDINO; Leandro PIVATO | Abstract | Full Text | Abstract : Inevitable aging is defined as a slow, gradual and continuous result of biochemical, morphological and physiological changes that affects the aesthetics of the skin, divided into chronological or intrinsic aging and extrinsic. The intrinsic aging is related to age and genetics of the individual, an expected and inevitable, with changes in appearance and normal function of the skin, due to the passage of time. Extrinsic aging, also called photoaging is due to environmental factors especially solar radiation, thus being more aggressive and harmful to the skin surface, degenerating elastic fibers and collagen, altering pigmentation and causing deeper wrinkles. Solar radiation produces free radicals highly damaging to the skin and that over time, weakens it aggressively. There are several alternatives for prevention and / or rejuvenation of this decline to control skin. Among them, there are methods such as a diet rich in vitamins radical scavenging, the use of topical dosage forms such as sunscreen and antioxidants like vitamins A, C and E, and the use of active facial rejuvenation as Argireline and DMAE. |
