During 30 years of the Armenian occupation, the vast majority of these monuments were
severely destroyed.
The history of mosques, tombs and epigraphic tombstones here proves that in the medieval

the values that have played an important role in the formation of the Muslim identity of the
Turkic peoples. This understanding, which takes its source from the Holy Quran, is also reflected
in the early examples of Turkic-language literature from Kutadgu Bilig to Dede Korkut. As a
natural consequence of this notion, along with the Prophet Muhammad, who is presented in
the Holy Quran as an examplary figure for muslims, his family members also served to create
an ideal Muslim image in the society through various religious texts. In this context, Maqtal
al-Husain, one type of the historical-literary works of Muslim peoples, is an important sources
that along with the Prophet Muhammad, his family members are presented to the general public
as exemplary personalities. In these works, dedicated to the martyrdom of Hussain ibn Ali in
Karbala by the army of Kufa during the reign of Umayyad caliph Yazid ibn Mua?iyah (680-
683), along with the hero of the event, his family members are also presented as exemplary
personalities who combine high moral characteristics in themselves as justice, courage, bravery,
fortitude, loyalty, generosity, contentment, resignation etc. One of these personalities is Fatimah
al-Zahra, the only descent of the Prophet Muhammad who continued his lienage. This article

| THEOLOGICAL (CONFESSIONAL) INTERPRETATIONS OF RELIGION | Author : Hasanagha Mammadli | Abstract | Full Text | Abstract :Theological (confessional) interpretations seek to understand religion “from the inside”,
based on the relevant religious experience. During the formation of religious studies as a branch
of knowledge, two approaches to the definition of religion were discovered: from the point of
view of extreme supranaturalism and from the position of the historical school in theology. The
essence of religion is the accumulation of transcendental signals. |

| ISLAMIC CONCEPT OF MORALITY | Author : Yegana Mirzayeva | Abstract | Full Text | Abstract :The Creator created man in the most beautiful image. Morality as a creation of the
Almighty is order, discipline and organization. Islamic moral values, which motivate a person
to strive to be better than before, to think and purify themselves, shed light on the highest truth.
By helping others, a person satisfies his spiritual needs, such as expressing compassion to his
neighbor, and changing for the better, as well as arriving at Creator’s destination. Gratuitous
aid to humanity is a form of social service. A person who is a social being, turning to the hearts
of his neighbors, can achieve the contentment of the Creator - fighting his own shortcomings,
constantly supplementing his spiritual world, awakening in others a sense of compassion and
empathy. |

| ON HUMAN AND REALITY RELATIONS IN FOLK POETRY | Author : Fakhraddin Guliyev | Abstract | Full Text | Abstract :Religious affiliation is one of the essential basic elements of the national mentality of every
nation. Since the separation from mythology, the religious world outlook has had a noticeable
influence on the formation of national thinking.
The article deals with one of the main problems of national philosophy, i.e. humanenvironment relationship. The study pays special attention to the role of Islamic concepts about
the relationship between man and the outside world, about a person’s place in this world, about
the meaning of human life.
Our holy book the Quran is rich in wise thoughts that have conceptual meanings about
the origin of the universe and man, nature, and society. The moral principles of Islamic ethics
perform regulatory functions in the relationship of man with nature and society. Outstanding
ashugs regularly turned to the Quranic verses to enhance the depth of thoughts in their poems.
Purpose: The search for the origins of the relationship between man and the world around
him in folk poetry, the study of the theoretical and applied significance of religious worldviews
among these sources has an important scientific and philosophical significance.
Methodology: The methodological basis of the research is the religious world outlook
and methods of dialectics. The basic knowledge of our ashugs is formed on the basis of
religious world outlooks. Because of this, religious knowledge makes it possible to determine
the scientific and philosophical significance of the relationship between man and reality. The
laws of dialectics are used as criteria for assessing the scientific significance in religious world
outlooks.

| ARCHAEOLOGICAL EXCAVATIONS AT THE MEDIEVAL SETTLEMENT OF GARHUN | Author : Shamil Najafov, Ahliman Abdurahmanov, Gulnara Hajiyeva | Abstract | Full Text | Abstract :During the construction of the SCPX pipeline prior to the construction works and in the
course of these works, archaeological field studies were conducted in the pipeline corridor.
Garkhun settlement located in the territory of Yukhari Garkhun village of the Yevlakh
region, on 194.150 km of the SCPX pipeline route. The site is on right of the Baku-Tbilisi main
road, approximately 400-450 m north of the road. The territory is located within crop areas.
Archaeological excavations on the site were conducted in August, 2015. No cultural layers
were observed during excavation works. Although the site 120 metres long and 4 metres wide,
was excavated to a depth of 1 metre, nothing was found to prove the signs of cultural layer.
The shape and content of ceramic samples allow these findings to be attributed to the
Middle Ages (9-10th centuries.).
Garkhun settlement and the artefacts found there are also important in the study of material
culture of the region of the Middle Ages. Samples of pottery scattered over the Garkhun site,
cover almost half a hectare. The topography, as well as the nature of ground materials, give
reason to believe that centre of the settlement is located to the north of the pipeline corridor.
Garhun belongs to the group of settlements of this period on the pipeline corridor
(Samedabad, Fakhrali, Dashbulag and Kerpijlitepe). The material from Garhun is similar to the
material on these sites. |
| THE ROLE OF EUROPEAN VALUES IN THE FORMATION OF ENLIGHTENMENT IDEOLOGY (Based on the philosophical views of Mirza Fatali Akhundzade and Sheikh Jamaladdin Afgani) | Author : Sabir Behbudov | Abstract | Full Text | Abstract :The article considers the role of European values in shaping the ideology of enlightenment
on the basis of philosophical views of Mirza Fatali Akhundzadeh and Sheikh Jamaladdin Afgani.
The overwhelming majority of thinkers adopted Islamic values as the basis of the national
value system. Enlighteners were primarily interested in religion and beliefs in light of public
morality. In their opinion, it is the unity of religion and language that determines the integrity of
society, protects it from harmful interference and preserves national identity.
M.F.Akhundzadeh believed that we should learn from Europe freedom of thought as an
experience of ideas. It is also possible due to the development of science and philosophy. People
are enslaved by false religious ideas. The thinker considered a living example of freedom of
thought and speech at a high level in his polemics. His views on a free press and criticism
coincide. |
