The Resear ch study shows the effect of yarn tension on yarn characteristics at ring frame stage which is very much dependent on centrifugal for ce (C.F .).The C.F on ring traveler varies by varying its mass. Due to varying cir cular motion of ring traveler , tension in yarn is varying in natur e and r esults ar e corr elated with yarn characteristics like fineness, str ength, elongation and variation in mass per unit length. In study it is observed that an incr ease in centrifugal for ce decr eases CSP , tenacity , thick places, thin places & neps& decr ease in centrifugal for ce gives initially incr ease in yarn quality index then further incr ease in C.F .gives the tr end of decr ement in yarn quality index |

Abstract : Lar ge-scale social safety net pr ograms such as India's National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA) ar e difficult to implement due to governance challenges r elated to elite captur e, leakages, and corruption. The ability to identify how the governance challenges of pr ogram implementation can be met r equir es detailed insights into the actual pr ocess of pr ogram implementation, with clear views on the sour ce of leakage and mismanagement, the sensitivity of pr ogram implementation to the influence of differ ent actors, local power structur es and informal bur eaucratic pr ocesses. This paper uses a new participatory r esear ch method, r eferr ed to as Pr ocess- Influence Mapping, to shed light on these issues and r elated governance challenges, using the implementation of NREGA as an example. The Pr ocess-Influence Mapping tool helps identify the specific featur es of the NREGA implementation pr ocess that limit the pr ogram's effectiveness (for example, elite captur e in the definition of work and capacity limitations due to staff shortages and lack of training) and cr eate scope for the misappr opriation of funds. The insights gained can be used to identify policy options for r eforming the administrative pr ocess of NREGA implementation so as to cr eate an effective social safety net. |

Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract : Of all the demographic attributes of a population, the sex structur e is one of the most fundamental and dir ectly r elated to the r epr oductive potential or mankind, deaths and marriages (United Nations). Sex ratio is a significant demographic and cultural index can be of value to the demographers as well as population geographers in a discussion of r egional characteristics. A Knowledge of the pattern of Sex Ratio helps to explain the employment and consumption pattern, social needs of the people and per haps the psychological characteristics of a community . Furthermor e, the ratio can r eflect the biological, social, economic and migrational characteristics of population. Social, economic and community life ar e affected in many ways by lar ge imbalances in sex composition. A gr eat imbalance in the sex ratio would tend to r esult in a lower ed fertility and slower gr owth of population. It is gaining and incr easing objective significance with gr owing emphasis on the r egional planning and r egional appr oach to the population policy . In the pr esent paper an attempt has been made to analyse tahsilwise sex ratio in Sangli District. For the detailed analysis in sex imbalance all the 9 tahsils in the district have been studied by using 2001 Census data. The sex ratio in rural population is generally higher than that of urban population. In Sangli district it is 962 as against 943 in urban ar eas. It is slightly higher (959) than the state average . Ther e is wide spatial variation not only in Rural but also in Urban sex ratios due to various socio-economic and demographic situations of the ar ea. T ahsils of very high sex ratio suffer fr om rigid topography , unfavourable economic conditions inducing male out-migration; as against developed agricultur e, market and service centr es, small scale agr o-based industries have influenced in-migration of males r esulting very low sex ratio in some of the vtahsils in the study ar ea |

nvestigation Of Role Of Wo Additive On Drift Mobility And 3 The Dc Electrical Resistivity Of Nicuzn Spinel Ferrite |
Author : Datta Kakde, C.M.Kale ,A. A. Pandit C.M.Kale |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :The DC electrical resistivity was studied for Ni Cu Zn Fe O + x WO 0.3 0.2 0.5 2 4 3 samples (x= 0.00 wt. % to 1.00 wt. % in the steps of 0.25wt. % WO ) prepared by using 3 conventional ceramic technique. The DC electrical resistivity ρ, Curie temperature Tc and activation energies for electric conduction in ferromagnetic (Ef) and paramagnetic (Fp) region. The variation of logarithm of resistivity with reciprocal of temperature shows a definite kink near Curie temperature. The plot of resistivity obeys the Arrhenius relation. It has been found that the resistivity decreases with WO additives significantly. 3 The activation energy in paramagnetic region and ferrimagnetic region has been calculated from resistivity plot. It is observed that the activation energy in paramagnetic region is greater than in ferrimagnetic region. Drift mobility of all the samples has been calculated and it was observed that the samples having higher resistivity have low mobility. And also mobility decreases as Curie temperature decreases. |

From A 'musaffir' To The 'marifat' Of Urban Change: The Arabs And The Urban Cultural Landscape Of Coastal Western India |
Author : Dipesh Karmarkar |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :Evolution, growth and decline of cities and the making of their urban cultural landscapes have been an integral area of research in historical geography. Though the physical geographical factors have always been stressed as the drivers of urban change, the modern urban historical geography has emphasised the human politico-economic factors as the strong force triggering the urban dynamics. The similar factors also play a seminal role in the evolution and structuring of the cultural landscape of the cities. The urban cultural landscape, thus, is viewed more as a reflection of the dominant economic and political factors at work in the given period of time. Coastal Western India, i.e. coastal Gujarat and Konkan, has experienced various phases of urban growth and decline during the making of its urban cultural landscape. After the decline of the Mauryas and most importantly of the Buddhism during 3rd and 4th century AD, the region experienced its second phase of urban decline (first being after the fall of the Harappan system). Arabs emerged on the urban scene of the Coastal Western India during this period of urban decline and played an influential role in paving the way for the Indo-Islamic phase of urban cultural landscape. They not only infused life in the then dying urban landscape of the region but also got engaged in the rise of big cities like Cambay. A long period of residence of the Arabs in Coastal Western India marked the beginning of fresh set of cultural interaction between the locals and the Arabs. The Arabs fundamentally made a profound impact on the Gujarati and Marathi languages with the incorporation of Persian and Arabic loan words. The Arab cultural influence can also be seen in architecture, agriculture and industries of the then Coastal Western India. On this backdrop, the present paper attempts to gauge the nature of theArab influence on the making of the urban cultural landscape of Coastal Western India. |

For him, education is a potential instrument of man- making and social engineering and ther efor e he transmitted that education should draw out the best in the child – body , mind and spirit – for developing peace loving human personality . The ideas of Gandhi wer e not implemented in education system due to some practical pr oblems but now the time has arrived to follow the Gandhian philosophy if we want to survive and cr eate an independent India. In this way , this paper explor es the ideas of Gandhi once again and makes an appeal that the teacher and students should be r esponsible towar ds the futur e of country |

This paper employs event study to capture the impact of stock split on selected companies listed in NSE during the period 1999 - 2011. Using the standard event study methodology the analysis showed that return of sample companies has no statistically significant abnormal returns on the announcement & surrounding dates of stock split |
