Influence Of Plant Growth Promoting Rhizobacteria (pgpr) On Thegrowth Of Maize (zea Mays L.) |
Author : T. Sheela And Usharani |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract : Plant Growth Promoting Rhizobacteria (PGPR) are beneficial bacteria that colonize plant roots and enhance plant growth by wide variety of mechanism these includes direct and indirect mechanisms like phosphate solubilization, phytohormone production, antifungal activity, etc. The bacteria, were successfully isolated and characterized by morphological and biochemical methods as P. polymyxa. Subsequently to investigate the effect of PGPR isolates on the growth of maize (zea mays L.), a pot culture experiment was conducted. Isolated PGPRs showed upto 62% seed germination power over to controls. Isolates the paenibacillus polymyxa showed as highest positive effect on the growth of experimental plant. Most of isolates resulted in a significant increasing of shoot length, root length and dry matter production of shoot and root of maize seedlings. In our results, Shoot length of maize after inoculation increased up to 92%, and dry matter increased up to 43% in comparison to controls. As same, bacterial inoculation also had the positive effect on the root length up to 35% and dry weight up to 40% in comparison to controls. These results show the potential to use PGPR in order to improve yields in maize crop in fields. |

Risk Management Under Economic Turbulence-the Indian Context |
Author : Gopal Krishna Agarwal And Yajulu Medury |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract : Economic Turbulence has been a cause of concern world over as it has jeopardized the plans of the government, the corporate sector and public at large. The life has become stressful and the budgets gone wrong year after year. This paper has discussed reasons of economic volatility, its concerns and has suggested the way out to manage the risk arising out of that. The core problem has been identified as the downfall in moral values at the governance level of the State and Corporate as well as of individual citizens of any country. Every good rule is only studied in the literature by one and all but when it comes to follow that, it is passed on to “YOU”. Hence, it is nobody's responsibility to take into account the wholesome welfare. Human greed is largely practicing dishonesty, alarmingly increased human stress, environment destruction, deteriorating natural resources, wars, spreading incurable diseases, etc. All this cumulatively has created panic resulting into loss of faith in one another and ultimately caused great strains on economic resources of any country. After the economies opened their doors for free trade and flow of capital, the economic volatility of one country started crossing the barriers and affecting other economies very fast. The author has tried to suggest some value based principles which may not only be of great help to overcome the ill effects of economic turbulence/ volatility but may also lead to welfare of all. |

Mahesh Dattani's Seven Steps Around The Fire And Harsarn Singh's Chhkay: Questioning The Social Prejudice Against The Hijras In India |
Author : Jaspal Singh |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract : Hijras (Eunuchs) constitute an invisible minority in the Indian social-setup. They have no space and respect in the general public life. They are subject to segregation and isolation. Politically, legally and socially the community of hijras is marginalized and victimized. Society cannot think or accept a gender beyond the male/female category. What is outside these two categories is unacceptable, intolerable and horrible to them. Howsoever hard a hijra might try to be a part of the mainstream of the society, the invisible clutches of social forces do not permit him to carve his own design beyond the limits imposed by the society. Mahesh Dattani in English and Harsarn Singh in Punjabi, articulate the feelings and predicaments of the hijras in theatre through their plays Seven Steps Around the Fire and Chhkay respectively. Both the plays stand out as the two best plays by in Indian Theatre that explore the socio-psychological plight of these people as they are caught between the social taboos and their personal desires. Both the plays dramatize the humiliation and suffering of the hijra community that has no respectable social space. |

Intelligent Solar Tracking System Using Ni Labview And Daq |
Author : K. Ravichandrudu , P. Suman Pramod Kumar And K. Satish Kumar |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract : This paper is mainly designed to control the solar panel automatically, maintains direction of the solar panel towards the sun. This is done by controlling the mechanical movement of the solar panel. Usually sun rises at east and sets at west. In ordinary system, if it faces towards east then it cannot change the direction towards sun during sunset. Because of this reason solar panel may not get sufficient sun rays to work. These problems are overcome by using this paper. So according to the sun movement intensity will be varied also the voltage and current of the solar panel changes. DC motor will be rotated such that where the array voltage is found to be maximum is, the panel is aligned in that direction. Solar energy is rapidly advancing as an important means of renewable energy resource. More energy is produced by tracking the solar panel to remain aligned to the sun at a right angle to the rays of light. The entire control is made with the help of Labview programming which is simple and by using DAQ (Data Acquisition System). At the same time a movable platform with sensors, instrumentation, DAQ and lab view, wireless communication is created |

Interactive Genetic Algorithm For Image Retrieval System Based On User Preference |
Author : Mamta R. Nagpure And S. A. Kinariwala |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract : In order to effectively and precisely retrieve the desired images from a large image database, the development of a content-based image retrieval (CBIR) system has become an important research issue. This paper presents a method to extract color, texture and edge features of an image quickly for content-based image retrieval (CBIR) [1]. Color attributes like the mean value, the standard deviation, and the image bitmap of a color image are used as the features for retrieval. In addition, the entropy based on the gray level co-occurrence matrix and the edge histogram of an image is also considered. However, most of the proposed approaches emphasize on finding the best representation for different image features. Furthermore, very few of the representative works well consider the user's subjectivity and preferences in the retrieval process. Furthermore, to reduce the gap between the retrieval results and the user's expectation, the IGA (Interactive Genetic Algorithm) is employed to help the users identify the images that are most satisfied to the users' need by setting distance parameter to the image using IGA. |

Abstract : Conflict is inevitable in human lives and in all cultures of the world. Conflicts are bound to occur in all spheres of human endeavours including social, educational, economic, political and religious aspects of life. Man is a social animal, and in a bid to discuss issues concerning human lives, welfare or societal development and also proffer solutions to these problems, clashes of interests or opinions are bound to occur. These clashes if not properly resolved can degenerate into conflict or outright violence. Violence means the intentional use of physical force or power, threatened or actual against oneself, another person, or against a group or community, that either results in or has a high likelihood of resulting in injury, death, psychological harm, maldevelopment, or deprivation (World Health Organization-WHO, 2002). |

Usage Of Probiotic Capsule To Increase The Iron Status Of Late Adolescent Girls (19- 23years) |
Author : A. Jyothi And K. B. Hema |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract : India has the world's highest prevalence of iron deficiency anaemia among women, with 60 to 70 percent of the adolescent girls being anaemic. Adolescence is considered as a nutritionally critical period of life. The pre-pregnancy nutritional status of young girls is important as it impacts on the course and the outcome of their pregnancy. Hence, the health of adolescent girls demands special attention .To combat anaemia the government of India launched prophylaxis programmes, which focus on the pregnant, lactating women and children. Late adolescents girls are not much covered under such programmes. Severe anaemia during pregnancy in turn leads to low birth weight babies and increases maternal mortality and morbidity. Hence, it may need to focus light on late adolescent girls. Though there is a drug therapy, due to many adverse effects like constipation, discolouration of stools, stomach pain, rust odour it is generally discontinued which continues anaemia. Hence the present study was undertaken to develop iron rich laddus along with lactobacillus acidophilus is given in the form of capsule in order to increase the absorption of iron from the food which is supplemented. On treatment with supplementation of probiotic capsules with iron rich laddu for 3 months showed a significant increase in the Hb percent and serum iron level in the supplemented sample. If the supplementation is given at younger age the period of suffering in later life will be reduced. |

They established their dwellings wherever the agricultural activities were feasible. Again during the reign of the Hindu emperor Krishna Devaraya they were encouraged to a great extent with the patronage of concessions and privileges under their ruled principalities such as Chengi, Trichy, Tanjore and Madurai. Besides these, during the administration of the Bhamini Sultans, they migrated from Andhra towards Tamilnadu in fearing of their suppression and persecutions. Black Humor In Catch-22 And Something Happened |
Author : Pravarsh Tale |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract : Black Humor is a term, first created and implied by French Pre-modern poet and critic Andre Breton in 1920s. But it did not become noticeable and was not taken seriously in the USA until 1960s. Columbia Encyclopedia describe Black Humor is a follows : “ Black Humor, in literature, drama and film, grotesque or morbid humor is used to expose the absurdity, insensitivity, paradox and cruelty of the modern world. Ordinary characters or situations are usually exaggerated far beyond the limits of normal satire of irony.” In 1960s, Black Humor is not only a term or a word but it is considered as a literary movement in America. It is closely related to the politics, economics and social conditions after World War II. Writers of 1960s used Black Humor as a weapon to expose the harsh realities of the contemporary society. Joseph Heller (1923-1999) is the most influential fiction writer in 1960s. He also employs Black Humor for delineating the horrifying absurdity of service life in World War II. He reflects his vision in his novels-Catch-22 and Something Happened. Catch-22, Joseph Heller's first novel, was published in 1961. It is now widely recognized as one of the most significant book written by an American since World War II. The publication of this novel brought about a new look in American literature and this creative novel was named as the presentative of Black Humor. The novel describe the wartime experiences of Army Air Corps Captain John Yossarian. Something Happened, published in 1974, thirteen years after Catch-22. Bob Slocum, a businessman who engages in a stream of consciousness narrative about his job, his family, his childhood, his sexual escapades and his own psyche. He was dissatisfied and pessimistic about his own lives despite enjoying its comfort. Bob's passivity in the novel is an important insight into Heller's objective in creating the novel. By using the technique of Black Humor, Heller, in both novels, deals with the theme of disillusionment, absurdity, immorality and irrationality. These themes are also found in the American contemporary social life. Heller throws light on the major issues which is essential for the betterment of the lives of American peoples |

Poverty and Hunger : A Critical Study |
Author : Arvind Kumar |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract : Large scale poverty and hunger, as India has, is averse to the proposed objective of the constitution of India. Concentration of monetary and material resources in a few hands and government's erroneous development strategy under the aura of globalization, combined together, have been adding much to remain the poor in India in grossly precarious condition. Being attached with the myth of the 'trickle down effect theory' wrong notion has been propagated by the ruling circle of India that growth in GDP will, ultimately, later on, eradicate poverty and hunger— a theory which will never bear any positive result. Poverty and hunger can be reduced only by generating employment and strengthening of the internal market by raising the income level of the people en-masse. Unless the present development policy is changed poverty and hunger will be remaining as a problem for ever. |

Author : Iram Siddiqu |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract : Philip Larkin is one of the finest English poets who flourished in the post-World War II era of English literature. Sunil Kumar Sarker writes, ''In the broad galaxy of his contemporary glittering poets- John Betjeman, Seamus Heaney, Douglas Dun, Tony Connor, Elizabeth Jennings, Norman Nicholson, Ted Hughes, Sylvia Plath and many more- Larkin shines distinct and undiminished. Larkin has three distinctions: as regards subject matters, he is modern, but as to forms, he is traditional; he is believed by some to be a movement poet, but he denied wholesale any 1 sharing of the views of the movements; and he is by far the most pessimistic of modern poets'' . His poetic personality- nostalgic, wry, melancholy, ironic, witty and haunting- has appealed to a far wider audience than that of literary specialists, while also winning the respect of leading critics and fellow poets. |

Author : Khushboo Malhotra and Bhawana Sharma |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract : Training & Development is a transitional and transformational process. People learn new ideas& techniques and reinforce existing knowledge and skills, and most importantly get their mind to think and consider what new options can help them improve their effectiveness at work. The goal of training is to create an impact that lasts beyond the end time of the training itself. The focus is on creating specific action steps and commitments that focus people's attention on incorporating their new skills and ideas back at work. There is a decreasing willingness to spend money on faith and an increasing pressure to justify training and development costs. Though each and every professional is aware of the positives of any training program, there has always been a mind-set that training is way too costly than it's beneficial. It's a perception that training department is a cost to any organization; it's a necessary evil which every company has to have. Also the employees think of it as a mere formality and are not able to take the necessary learning from the same. To study these concepts in a broader way, a research has been done on two banks to understand the psyche of employees about importance of training and whether organizations think of it as a cost or an investment for an organization. After reviewing various literatures, meeting bank employees especially those in training department, some inferences have been drawn. Also, some data has been collected by questioning employees about training. Here in this research paper, researcher is trying to evaluate those inferences by finding out employee perception about training and understanding cost & investment aspect of employee training and development in an organization. |

Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract : This research paper designs to show the political manipulation represented in Wole Soyinka's Kongi's Harvest. The purpose of this research paper is to examine the way Wole Soyinka applied cultural artifacts to political issues to depict the happenings in his immediate society. Kongi's Harvest takes us into a society that is governed by a form of hierarchy: the traditional rulers on one hand, a military dictator on the other. It is however clear that the military dictator is having the upper hand. The political scene is dominated by the military dictator. Kongi is the head of that society Isma land and modern day military head. He oppresses Oba Danlola and Sarumi. He asks Oba Danlola to surrender and present to him, the new leader the new yam which symbolizes power. Danlola refuses and his refusal lead Kongi to imprisoning him. Kongi installs government propaganda to disseminate only what he wants his subjects to be informed on and tortures people he considers to be enemies. He demonstrates that he has power over life and death. Kongi like any other dictator does not base his policies on what will gain wide support. He, as a dictator, comes to power after deposing the king. His greatest challenge is in uniting his nation which is largely comprised of different tribes. He uses every means possible, not all of them honest, to attain his goal. He even seeks advice from the dethroned king. He also tries to keep his country's cultural roots intact by forcing his officials to wear traditional African clothing. He has an absolutist conception of political leadership. He desires and enjoys the politics of personal power. He has all the power to speak and decide on everything. This paper will also evaluate and underscore the ways in which political issues are exemplified in the play. The study will employ a textual analysis and interpretation of the play putting into consideration of Antonio Gramsci's political and cultural hegemony |

Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract : Tuberculosis is a global threat, and methods to improve its diagnosis are always needed. Sodium hypochlorite has been studied and utilized as a method to increase the yield of sputum microscopy. In present study, we evaluated short time sedimentation and compared with centrifugation technique to increase the yield of sputum microscopy among smear negative samples. Sputum samples remaining after direct microscopy were utilized for study. All samples were treated with sodium hypochlorite and then processed by four hours sedimentation and centrifugation for 20 min at 3000 g. After this, smears were prepared and stained by hot ZN stain. Out of A total of 643 smear negative patients, 41 were positive after 4 hrs bleach sedimentation (increase in positivity rate by 6.4%) and 43 were positive after bleach centrifugation (increase in positivity rate by 6.7%). Gain in bleach was 43.2% by sedimentation, and 45.3% by centrifugation. The mean no. of AFB observed per 100 oil immersion fields among positive samples, were 31 (range 10-48, SD =8.8) by sedimentation, and 44 (16 – 73, SD = 14.1) by centrifugation. Our study suggests that use of bleach could significantly increase the yield of direct sputum microscopy, and short time (4 hrs) sedimentation technique should be promptly evaluated for its usefulness. |

Npa Management In Banks -an Innovative Approach |
Author : Sunitha. R and J. K Raju |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract : Nonperforming assets ( NPAs) pose a major threat to banks in two ways i.e., declining profits and erosion of capital base. As per the extant RBI guidelines an advance or loan given by a bank will be classified as nonperforming when the principal repayment or servicing of interest is due for more than 90 days but not paid. Depending on the extent of irregularity a nonperforming asset is in turn further classified into sub standard and loss assets. The bank has to stop Recognizing the income on such non performing assets on accrual basis. In other words the bank can recognize the income on such NPAs only on cash realization basis. Additionally the bank has to assess the risk in such NPAs and make necessary capital provisions in order to meet the eventual loss from those NPAs. |
