Author : DIPAK B. CHAVHAN |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :The objective of the present study was to analyze the effect of selected yogic practices in enhancing the Running ability among the men Kho-Kho players. With the assistance and help of the experts in the field of yoga, sports and previous researches on these areas a comprehensive and suitable yoga package was evolved. Thirty men Kho-Kho players at the High School level were selected at random to be treated under the designed training package to find out the training impacts and outcomes. The selected Kho-Kho players underwent ten weeks of intensive yogic training besides their regular sports training. The Running ability was measured before and after the treatment by administering the Warner Test of Kho-Kho Skills. The data were analyzed by using't' ratio for interpretation. The designed training package was suitable and made positive training impacts on running ability among the Kho-Kho players. |

Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :The purpose of the present research was to find out the analysis of resistance training on strength and power parameters. To achieve this purpose, thirty men students were selected randomly as subjects. They were assigned randomly into three experimental groups. Group I underwent low intensity resistance training and group II underwent medium intensity resistance training group of fifteen each. The two groups were tested on selected dependent variable such as leg strength and back strength and explosive power before and after the treatment. The data pertaining to the variables in this study were examined by analysis of covariance (ANCOVA). Two experimental groups' namely low and medium intensity resistance training groups have achieved significant improvement on strength and power parameters. In view of improvement in strength and power parameters was concerned, the medium intensity resistance training was best training when compared to low intensity resistance training. |

Author : VIVEK MAHESHWARI AND VIKAS KUMAR SHARMA |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :The present research paper deals with the achievement motivation and birth orders of school going children. For obtaining the achievement motivation scores, a sample of 90 students was taken and divided into three equal parts i.e., first, second & third birth order. The achievement motivation scores were determined with the help of Rao Achievement Motivation Test. The results reveal that there was no significant difference on achievement motivation between first born & second born children. There was significant difference on achievement motivation between first born & third born children i.e., the achievement motivation of third born children is higher than first born children, whereas there was no significant difference on achievement motivation between second born & third born children. |

EFFECT OF TAICHI TRAINING ON MOTOR FITNESS PARAMETERS OF HIGH SCHOOL BOYS |
Author : E.BALAJI AND K.MURUGAVEL |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :Aim: The aim of the study was to examine the motor fitness parameters (Flexibility, Balance and muscular strength) of high school boys after participating in 8 weeks taichi training programme. Background: Regular physical exercise is well known to be an effective intervention in maintaining and improving the physical and mental health. Tai Chi exercise is considered to offer great potential for health promotion and rehabilitation, particularly in the maintenance of good mental and physical condition. Methods: Thirty high school boys were randomly selected. The selected subjects were divided into two equal groups consisting of fifteen each. They carried out 8 weeks of taichi training programme. Flexibility (sit and reach test), muscular strength (modified sit ups test), and balance (stork balance stand test) were measured before and after the training period. Results: At post test, the experimental group significantly improved the flexibility, muscular strength and balance. Conclusions: The findings reveal that Tai chi training programme can safely improve motor fitness parameters in high school boys. |

EFFECT OF ISOLATED AND COMBINED SWISS BALL AND FLEXIBILITY TRAINING ON SELECTED PHYSICAL FITNESS AND SKILL PERFORMANCE VARIABLES AMONG SCHOOL VOLLEYBALL PLAYERS |
Author : M. NATARAJAN AND CH. VST. SAI KUMAR |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :The purpose of the present study was to investigate the effect of isolated and combined Swiss ball and flexibility training on selected physical fitness and skill performance variables among school volleyball players. To achieve this purpose, forty male volleyball players studying various schools in Vellore district, Tamilnadu, India, during the academic year 2012-2013 were randomly selected as subjects and their age ranged from 16 to 18 years. The selected subjects were divided into four groups of ten subjects each. Group-I underwent Swiss ball training, group-II underwent flexibility training, group-III underwent combined Swiss ball and flexibility training, and group-IV acted as control. All the subjects of the four groups were tested on selected dependent variable namely speed, muscular strength, flexibility, coordination, serving ability and volleying ability at before the commencement of training programme (pre-test) and after the respective training for a period of twelve weeks (post-test). The data collected from the three groups prior to and post experimentation on selected dependent variables were statistically analyzed to find out the significant difference if any, by applying the analysis of covariance (ANCOVA). Since four groups were involved, whenever the obtained 'F' ratio value was found to be significant for adjusted post test means, the Scheffe's test was applied as post hoc test to determine the paired mean differences, if any. In all the cases the level of confidence was fixed at 0.05 for significance. It was concluded that combined Swiss ball and flexibility training was significantly better than isolated Swiss ball training and flexibility training in improving speed, muscular strength, serving ability and volleying ability. In improving flexibility of the volleyball player's flexibility training was significantly better than combined training and Swiss ball training however, no significant differences were found between the experimental groups in altering the coordination of the volleyball players. |

EFFECTS OF MULTIMEDIA COMPUTER ASSISTED INSTRUCTION AND TRADITIONAL INSTRUCTION ON LEARNING DRIBBLING AND PASSING ABILITY OF SOCCER PLAYERS |
Author : J. JEYSON |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :To achieve the purpose of the study, seventy five students studying in St. Mark's Higher Secondary School Mookuperi, Nazareth, Tamilnadu were randomly selected as subjects. The age of the subjects ranged from 14 to 17 years. The subjects selected for this study were randomly divided into three experimental groups of twenty five in each. The experimental groups I, II and III were named as computer assisted instruction group, traditional instruction group and combined group respectively. All the subjects in the experimental groups (I, II and III) were given their respective training programme for 6 weeks duration. Dribbling and Passing are the essential fundamental skills in soccer. They play a vital role in the game situation and were selected as criterion variables for the study. Teachers cannot be eliminated from the teaching and the learning processes. The following variables were selected as independent variables for this study: Computer Assisted Instruction (CAI), Traditional Instruction and Combined Instruction. The design selected for this study was pre and post random group design. The data on dribbling and passing were collected by administrating the Mor Christian General Soccer Test. The pre and post tests were conducted on the selected criterion variables prior to and immediately after the instruction programme. In both the cases the tests were administered on three consecutive days |
