Competitive State Anxiety Inventory-2 (CSAI-2) was used as a statistical tool to measure existing state of cognitive state anxiety, somatic state anxiety and self-confidence in competitive situations The collected data were Statistically analyzed by applying descriptive statistic of mean and standard deviation. Further analysis of variance (ANOVA) was applied to assess the significant difference between the groups. The level of significance was set at 0.05. The finding of the study in relation to CSAI - 2 reveals that a no significant difference exists among different age groups city league male cricket players. |

Medicine ball put test was used to measure the arm and shoulder girdle strength whereas Illinois Agility Test was used to measure running agility of the subjects. The independent samples t-test reveals that Softball Pitchers had significantly greater arm and shoulder girdle strength (p<0.05) as compared to Softball non-pitchers. In case of agility, there was no significant difference between Softball pitchers and Softball non-pitchers. |

S .P. Q. Test (personality test measuring of 14 factors). Analysis of covariance was assists to find out the post test mean different among the treatment groups. Yoga group showed significant superiority the Aerobic exercises group in improving personality scores (CD=0.48, p<0.05) including improvement in emotional stability (CD=0.42, p<0.06), calmness (CD=0.33, p<0.05), enthusiasm (CD=0.48, p<0.05), self-discipline (CD=0.42, p<0.05), relaxation (CD=0.58, p<0.01), tranquility (CD=0.55, p<0.05), confidence (CD=0.40, p<0.05) and reduction in aggressiveness (CD=0.50, p<0.05), frustration (CD=0.40, p<0.05), depression (CD=0.60, p<0.05. Whereas; other factors remained unchanged (CD=0.10 to 15, p>0.05). Controlled subjects did not show any change in personality scores (CD=0.13, p>0.05) and associated factors. |

The necessary data of aerobic and anaerobic capacity were collected at the time of match practice sessions. The data of aerobic and anaerobic capacity were collected with the help of 600 yard run/walk test and 50 metre dash test. In order to find out the aerobic and anaerobic capacity of female players of individual sports, “One Way Analysis of Variance” (ANOVA) was applied and the level of significance was set at 0.05. The study reveals that there was no significant difference found in aerobic and anaerobic capacity of male players of individual sports. |

Author : GURDEEP SINGH |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :The purpose of the study was to “compare the degree of sports competition anxiety between state level chess and cricket players.” The study was conducted on 40 State level male chess and 40 male cricket players, are ranging from 18 to 25 years. In this study Sports Competition Anxiety Test (SCAT Martens et al., 1990) was used to measure sports competition anxiety. Questionnaire was distributed among the Chess and Cricket players 1 hour before the competition. It was hypothesized that there would be no significant difference the Chess and Cricket players on the degree of sports competition anxiety. Descriptive statistics (mean and standard deviation) and t- test were. used to analysis the data. Findings: To analyze the SCAT-score t-test was employed: the level of significance for letting the hypothesis was set at 0.05 level or significance. The mean of the SCAT score of Chess players was 19.20 and that of Cricket players was 22.60. The calculated t- value was 3.95 which showed significant difference in sports competition anxiety between the state levels Chess players and Cricket players ('t' cal= 3.95 >'t' tab=1.99). The sports Competition anxiety of Cricket players was found to be higher than the Chess players. The t-value required to he significant for 78 degree of freedom was 1.99 at 0.05 level of significance. |

Author : RAJ KUMAR AND YUVRAJ SINGH |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate effect of rope skipping, spot running, and step-ups on cardio-vascular endurance of college boys. Methods: For the purpose of this study 40 boys as subjects from V. S. S. D. P. G. College, Kanpur, were selected at random. Their age ranged from 18 to 22 years. All the subjects were randomly assigned to three experimental groups (A, B and C) and one control group (D) each consisting of 10 subjects. The experimental treatments were also assigned to the groups at random. The groups A, B and C were treated as experimental groups and were administered progressive training programme of rope skipping, spot running and step-ups respectively for six weeks. The group 'D' served as control group and continued attending the college but did not participate in any kind of training programme. Modified Harvard Step test was administered at the beginning and after the experimental period of six weeks in terms of pre-test and post-test scores on the criterion measures. To find out the effect of rope skipping, spot-running and step-ups on cardio-vascular endurance of college boys, the analysis of co-variance was used as the statistical treatment. The level of significance was set at 0.05 level. Results: The result of the study revealed there was significant effect of rope skipping, spot running, and step-ups on cardio-vascular endurance of college boys. Conclusions: In the light of the findings, it was concluded that a training of six weeks rope skipping, spot running, and step-ups was sufficient to have a significant difference in cardio vascular endurance of boys. |
