Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :In the modern electronics era most of the adolescent are not participating in leisure activities and concentrate on studies. Regular physical activity would be important for life’s quality even if it had no relationship to disease and longevity. Physical activity is a significant ingredient in the quality of life, because it increases energy and promotes, physical and mental well being in addition to conferring health benefits. 21000 Boys from various schools of various districts India [Tripura (TR), Meghalaya (ML), Assam (AS), Mizoram (MZ), Manipur (MN), Nagaland (NL) and Arunachal Pradesh (A.R.)] (N=21000) were selected as subjects at random. Their age ranged from 13 to 15 years (studying from 7th to 10th standard). Muscular endurance was measured by the number of sit-ups in a one minute. Mean and standard deviation were computed by using SPSS statistical package. The calculated mean (X) and standard deviation (σ) was used to find out the Hull Scale. The result of the study shows that the adolescent boys of North-Eastern states were differing on muscular endurance. Hence it was concluded that, age, geographical region, growth, social behaviour, food habit and level of physical activity in curriculum and social life may influence the muscular endurance of adolescent boys of North-Eastern states. |

Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :The purpose of the study was to investigate the impact of different conditional resistance training on anaerobic power of football players. Forty five football players from the Department of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, Annamalai University were selected as subjects. The age, height and weight of the subjects ranged from 18 to 25 years, 158 to 169 centimetres and 55 to 66 kilograms respectively. The selected subjects were randomly assigned into three equal groups of 15 subjects each. Group I underwent linear progressive resistance training, group II underwent staircase progressive resistance training and group III acted as control. Prior to and after the training the subjects were tested on anaerobic power using standard test and procedures. Analysis of covariance was used to determine the significantly difference existing between pre test and post test on anaerobic power. The result of the study proved that due to different conditional resistance training significantly improved the anaerobic power of football players. |
