Abstract : The operating performance of financial institutions has long been at the center of academic research and has received a substantial amount of attention. This is primarily due to the fact that operating efficiency is of particular interest for both managers, whose aim is to improve the performance of their ?nancial firms , and policy makers, whose task is to assess the effects of market structure on performance and, therefore, to safeguard the stability of the ?nancial system. The banks in India are facing stronger rivalry due to the globalization and liberalization of the financial system. Therefore the study of operating performance of domestic (public and private sector banks) and foreign banks in India becomes important. The objective of the study is to compare the operating performance of public, private, and foreign banks in India, so that they can draw the lessons from each other to be fit and profitable. Findings of study show that the foreign banks operating performance in relation to profitability is better than private and public banks. Further the public banks performance was found inefficient through DEA approach putting their sustainability in danger. |

Abstract : The Ancient Indian merchants went from village to village to collect for example, cotton thread from the spinners or cotton cloth from the weavers and to sell them in village where they were in demand. The Ancient merchants earned a profit through supplying the goods acquired. What was true of thread or cloth also applied to grain and or cloth also applied to grain and or cloth also applied to grain and other products. Soon there was large trade or exchange of goods in the country. Ancient Indian Trade was made easier by the invention of a new method of exchange money. Before coins were used, goods were bartered or exchanged. But coins were advantageous because those were easy to be carried from one place to another. As the use of coins increased, there were more and more traders. |

Abstract : Observing the stock price movement is an area of research that attracted the attention of various academicians and scholars. Perhaps no other area of finance has been subject to so much empirical investigation during the last four decades as the behavior of stock prices. The present study attempts to contribute positively to the understanding of the behavior of Indian share prices in relation to the dividend announcements. Dividend announcements usually are considered as the positive signal to the shareholders and its positive impact on the share prices is also expected. A standard event study methodology is adopted in the paper to examine the price reactions of 30 listed companies surrounding 70 days of the announcement dates. |

Abstract : World Wide Web has vast useful Web databases which are difficult to extract relevant data from various sources. The number of Web databases has reached 50 millions according to a recent survey. These web databases can be searched through their web query interfaces. The web pages resulted are said to be surface web which can be accessed by search engines without accessing web databases and deep web refers to the web page that is not indexed by the general search engine. Deep web can be accessed only by websites interfaces. So it is inaccessible to search engines. So extracting data from deep page is critical problem.This paper studies some deep web data extraction techniques. A different way for deep web data extraction to overcome limitations of previous works is using visual approach. Visual features of deep web pages are used as primary concern to extract contents from deep web pages. It includes both data record extraction and data item extraction. |
