(OMCs) are present in every nook and corner of the country through its retailers of Indian Oil
Corporation, Bharat Petroleum Corporation and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation. Government
permitted private and foreign companies to undertake retail marketing of petrol, diesel and
Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) in the country. So, there is severe competition to sell the
petroleum products. In order to satisfy the customers and to increase the revenue of the oil
companies, Indiarecognizes the potential in converting the petrol pumps into a retail chain. They feel
that the non-fuel revenue from retailing activity is a blessing. This paper focuses on the level of
expectation and perception of respondents towards petrol retail outlets in Kanyakumari District.It also
offers suitable suggestions for the improvement of the retail outlets.

P | Abstract | Full Text | Abstract :Sugar industry is the largest agro-based industry located in the rural India. About 45 million sugarcane farmers, their dependents and a large mass of agricultural labours are involved in sugarcane cultivation, harvesting and ancillary activities, and constituting 7.5 per cent of the rural population. Beside these, about 0.5 million skilled and semi-skilled workers, mostly from the rural areas are engaged in the sugar industry. The sugar industry in India has been a focal point for socio-economic development in the rural areas by mobilizing rural resources, generating employment and higher income, transport and communication facilities. Further, many sugar factories have established schools, colleges, medical centres and hospitals for the benefit of the rural population. Some of the sugar factories have also diversified into by-product based industries and have invested and put up distilleries, organic chemical plants, paper and board factories and cogeneration plants. The industry generates its own replenish able biomass and uses it as fuel without depending on fossil fuel. The sugar industry’s contribution to the Indian economy is, therefore, enormous.

Due to cost effective and innovative schemes bombarding the market, the customer is induced to exhibit shift behavior. This paper helps us to study the brand loyalty and shift behavior of the customers towards mobile service providers, number of SIM cards each customer is holding, is customer happy with shifting, reasons for shifting and non – shifting and when does shift behavior really work out? This paper highlights shift behavior, in general and the shift behavior towards TATA DOCOMO in particular which is the finding of a research work by sample survey method.
