Abstract :Electronic resources have become very important and essential source of information in the present age. Electronic resources are resources in which information is stored electronically and it can be accessible through electronic systems and network environment. The aim of the article has made an attempt to highlight the main issues of electronic resources and describes the concept and the meaning of electronic resources by giving definitions. It also describes the various types of electronic resources; e-journals, e-books, online databases etc. These are very useful due to inherent, providing information access is cheaper to acquiring information, savings in storage and maintenance. |

Abstract :The paper aims to study the Free/Open source integrated library management systems like Koha, Newgenlib and e-Granthalaya. A thorough analysis of all the three software's has been done and listed the features available in all the three ILMS. Koha and Newgenlib has more advanced and varied features than e-Granthalaya. e-Granthalaya has simple interface with less options and easy to use and install. Overall Newgenlib has more enhanced features that are significant for library automation and it can be selected as ILMS. |

Abstract :New technologies provide improved reading environment for many people. A plenty of changes came in the field of e-books and e-book readers/devices and the changes in habits of users by the introduction of e-devices into reading environments. Due to the rapid pace of development and innovation in information technology, the dedicated electronic book (e-book) reader has become a new trend in reading. In this paper we have tried to explain the transition from printed books to e-books, what is e-book reader, evolution of the e-devices: how it is beneficial for the users, what is the status of the e-book reader in the global market and what is the future of e-book reader furthermore tried to know how it can be more important or convenient for the new generation. This paper also provides guidance on the usability of e-book readers and provides insights into the future of e-book reading devices. It will be benefited for the information professionals seeking to utilize e-book reading devices. |

Abstract :The aim of this study is to analyze the use of Internet and its impact on the faculty members and students of Modern College of Education, Gohana, Sonipat. Sources of information available via the Internet are increasing vary rapidly. A well structured questionnaire was distributed among the 140 respondents out of which 120 questionnaires were return back. The total response rate was 85.71%. Result shows that 93 (77.50%) of the respondents are aware with Internet and 27 (22.50%) of the respondents are not aware with Internet. 65 (54.17%) of the respondents are frequently use the Internet daily. 74 (61.67%) of the respondents are using the Internet for education purpose. 79 (65.83%) of the respondents are using Google as the favorite search engine. The study revealed that Internet is the most usefulness resources among the respondents from Modern College of Education. |

The semantic web theory provides an account of meaning in which the logical connection of terms establishes interoperability between systems. It's aimed to be able to be readily interpret by machines, so machines can perform works involved in finding, combining, and substitute upon information on the web, which has been by far been performed and managed by human being. |

Abstract :The paper focuses on use of electronic resources in the H.T. Parekh library of the Institute for Financial Management and Research (IFMR), Chennai. It highlights the use of e-resources by post graduate students of IFMR business school. An attempt is made to identify which electronic information resources are more useful to the students in various formats like CD-ROM and DVD-ROM databases, On-line databases, E-journals and plenty of Internet / Web resources. It will also x-ray the problems associated with the use of electronic resources. Abstract :Application of Bradford's Law of Scattering is one of the bibliometric law, which is used most commonly in bibliometric research. The paper gives a review of the contribution in Library & Information Science & theoretical aspects of the law. A study carried out on the data of journals cited by Ph.D. research scholars at the universities in Maharashtra for their doctoral research. To examine the applicability of Bradford's Law of Scattering, study include 798 periodical containing 5467 references collected form 138 theses during the period 1982-2010. Rank list was prepared and Annals of Library Science and Documentation took top place with 207 citations followed by College and Research Libraries with 184 , and Herold of Library Science with 160 citations were the most preferred journals. Applicability of Bradford's Law in various method was tested. |

Abstract :Electronic journal is one of the products of information and communication technologies. The advancement of e-journal during recent years has given librarians a powerful new resource to support learning and research. This study reports the result of a survey conducted at education faculty members in virudhunagar district to determine the extent to which user are aware and make use of e-journals. The study also examines the search pattern of e-journals. A questionnaire was distributed among the faculty members to collect desired data. A total of 250 questionnaires were distributed to the selected sample of Library users; 228 valid samples were collected. The studies found that majority (84.51%) of the male users were aware about the e- journals where as only (69.77 %) of female respondents were aware about the availability of e-journals. The analysis reveals that most of the respondents (32.46 % )use e-journals for writing papers. It could be noted that majority of the male respondents (34.51%) have less than 2 hours of access to internet, whereas, majority of the female respondents (26.74%) have 2-3 hours of access to internet. It could be noted that majority of the male respondents (30.28%) using e-journals daily, a considerable number of female respondents (24.82%) is using e-journals thrice a week. It is clear that most of the respondents (39.47 %) search e-journals through linking facility available on the library website followed by (30.70 % ) search engines. |
