Abstract : Technical institutes are the nucleus of innovation through their advanced research and development. Subsequently, Technical Institutions may benefit greatly by harnessing the power of cloud computing, including cost cutting as well as all the storing and retrieval types of cloud services. This study aims to provide a means of understanding the awareness among library professionals and infrastructure needs to implement cloud computing technologies in enhance the effectiveness of library services offered by them. This paper also explains the characteristics, motivation and barriers to implement cloud computing technologies in library services in VTU affiliated Engineering colleges in Bangalore (Karnataka). |

Abstract :“Save the time of the reader” it is the 4th Law of S.R. Ranganathan’s Five Laws of Library Science (1931). It is a challenge to ask whether the printed Library catalogues precisely do this for its library users. There is a common understanding that the evolution of OPAC should be in line with the evolution of technology and its services. Users are should be satisfied from library services. Online Public Access Catalogue should not be a complex matrix for the users. There is no doubt that Library professionals are the Architects to design best next generation OPACs by using Web 2.0 tools. Abstract :Awareness and Use of Electronic Information Resources by Social Science Research Scholars in University of Mysore: A Study. With a view to survey awareness and use of electronic information resources by Social Science Research Scholar a random sampling techniques were used. 200 questionnaire was distributed for data collection 180 filled questionnaire was received giving a responds rate of 90%. Simple frequency counting and percentage were used in reporting and finding. The paper records the reasons why? Social Science research scholars of University of Mysore use electronic information resources. The paper also suggests further for an improvement in the access facilities with high Internet speed and subscription to more e-resources by the Mysore University Library. |

Abstract :In India, there are many special and R & D libraries where library automation and use of new information technology are in planning stage. Librarian and library managers are making effort to automate their libraries. Authors of this paper try to accommodate each and everything, which required for successful library automation. This plan describes the basic elements of managing the automation planning process in primarily special and R & D libraries. This write-up provides a detailed overview of a planning process designed to help to make decisions about library automation. Practical suggestions are offered on how library manager can effectively organize the process of library automation. |

Abstract :Analyzed 9966 references appended at the end of 620 articles generated by the journal LPP from 2008-2012, indicating that average of 1993.2 citations and 124 articles per year and majority of articles with 183(29.51%) published in 2011. Journals accounted for 3269 (32.8%) of the total citations were heavily cited and African Journal of Library Archives & Information Science secured the first rank for being cited more number of times with 132(4.03%) of total journal citations. Annals of Library and Information Studies from India got 10th position with 97(2.91%) citations. Maximum with 904 (27.65%) citations contributed from USA and India occupied the fourth position with 216(6.6%) citations. Most of the articles with 201(32.42%) have the length of 4-7 pages with an average of 1295.2 pages per year. 325(52.42%) and 450 (72.58%) citations of articles contributed from universities and faculty members respectively and majority of them with 112 (18.06%) are related to Library and Information Science. |
