Fakir Mohan University, Balasore was established by the Government of Orissa in 3rd July, 1999 and duly recognized by the UGC under section 2(f) of the UGC Act by the Notification No. F-9-1 / 2000 (CPP-I), dated 11th February 2000 as well as under section 12(B), vide UGC letter No. F.9-1 /2000 (CPP-I) dated 23rd December, 2005. The university imparting education and research thorugh various post-graduate departments in disciplines of Pure and Applied Science, Social Sciences, Arts and Commerce etc. The aim of this study is to find out the research productivity of the university's research that have been indexed in Scopus during 2008 to 2012. The study also identifies the annual growth of university's publication, authorship pattern, author productivity, degree of collaboration, length of paper published, most prolific contributor, prolific institution/ organization, geographical distribution etc. Bradford's law used to determine scattering of literature in the publication pattern of the university during the period under study.

The present paper focuses on the status of library automation in the engineering college libraries in Maharashtra State. The paper also highlighted on the type of Library Automation softwares being used by the engineering college libraries. The results of the study shows that majority status of library automation is in partial stage in almost all the libraries . Also the use of local made or home made software was found on large scale.

The Internet is a global network connecting millions of computers. This study is to understand the pattern of internet usage among the college students in virudhunagar district. Of 19 colleges, only 9 colleges had internet connection in the library for their students. The data analyzed in this study comes from 300 student respondents, who had used internet for the last seven months, spread across nine academic libraries which provide internet services to the users. The Internet is fast changing the methods for accessing and using information and research activities. . Internet has made a greater impact on library and information service by offering new modes for information delivery and a vast variety of information services. The Internet is an international system of interconnected computer networks that use the standard Internet protocol suite to connect users worldwide. The libraries changed from time to time due to various reasons.

There are lots of potentials and benefits of digitisation and digital libraries. However, coming down to the context of Manipur, the existing government and private public libraries remain miserably poor at its initial stage. Libraries have been neglected for many decades in this state. But, as a fact, no one has ever achieve the perfect right to education without providing proper library services in a state or Union Territories in India. It depicts the present scenario of digitisation in the libraries of Manipur.

This paper discusses about the application of TQM with respect to users in a University Library. The Total Quality Management is a management approach centered on quality, based on the participation of an organization and aiming at long term success. This is achieved through customer satisfaction and benefits of all members of the organization and society. To anlyse the applications of TQM in current study Rajsthan University and MNIT Jaipur Library users (N=200) were analyzed for hypothesis H : TQM is implemented effectively in libraries of State Universities of Rajasthan and H : 1 2 Users are satisfied with the quality of collection and services of libraries of State Universities of Rajasthan was accepted by various statistical analytical tests and overall it can be stated that The requirements and expectations of the user's are changing day by day and their requirements are very high but TQM if implemented in library tries to make academic library of University more beneficial for user as studied in case of Rajasthan university and MNIT Jaipur.

Due to the rise in popularity and consideration of Open Source Software in all sectors from education to government to business, it has become critical for all decision makers to understand the concept, philosophy, merits, demerits, availability and implications of OSS for their organizations. In a library environment, budget, time and staffing either predicate or prevent technology initiatives. Today, while users' needs are growing, library budgets are shrinking. In this context of an ever increasing need for technology and ever decreasing resources to acquire these new products, Open Source Software offers libraries an attractive solution.

It is not just the ubiquitous computers that constitute technology in Library and Information centers. There are intricate databases, electronic Information Services and quite recently RFID tags. Not many patrons know of RFID tags. But in the library community there are questions of privacy. It is not just Libraries that use RFID. RFID Technology could transform stores, factories every day lives of people. This Technology offers a higher level of security system, so the choice now for users is whether they want a chip inserted into their fatty tissues below the triceps or to have their palm veins recorded with an infrared light.

In recent years collaborative research has became a well established feature in science and technology research fields . A consistently increasing trend towards collaboration of authors is observed among various branches of science and technology.

High Court librarianship, i.e. the librarianship in judicial institutions at apex level in a state is different from librarianship in any other discipline. This aspect is more appropriately explained by Prof. Igor I. Kavass, when he says that “the reason for court libraries being different from other types of libraries is that they serve a profession which is literally unable to exercise its work without the use of books.” A high court librarian has to furnish the desired informative services at once because the case is being argued in the state apex Court and desired information is needed in the course of the argument. Because of this reason, the high court libraries have to suffice with sufficient budgets so that they must develop their tools and expertise to provide the desired services instantly.

When we are planning for Digital Library System immediately it goes to DSpace Software, which is widely using Open Source software. Hewlett-Packard Laboratories and MIT Libraries collaborated on a two-year project to develop DSpace, an open source repository system for the capture and preservation of digital materials. DSpace was designed as a production quality system offering the breadth of functionality required for a long-term institutional repository in a relatively simple fashion. There are many institutions are using DSpace Digital Library System, the article presents the usage of DSpace in India.

The proliferation of information and rapid development of innovative information technology and web based information services has transformed the basic structures of libraries. Digital technologies have reinvented traditional libraries. Digital library is the collection of services and electronic information resources. In digital libraries, services are fully automated and all resources are in digital form. These libraries are a combination of digital computing, storage and communication mechanism. The present paper discusses about digital library, the reasons behind the emergence of digital libraries, the step by step process of digitization, specific electronic resources and services and number of challenges are also highlighted.
