Abstract : The Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) provides open access to scientific and scholarly journals, that meat high quality standard by exercising pear review and is free to all from the time of publication based on the Budapest open access initiative. Using 140 fully open access electronic journals published uninterruptedly since 1972-2013 in the field of Environmental Science. The present study author investigated the total 140 free full text with abstracts online journals were accessed through DOAJ and analyzed based on e-journals were analyzed based on country-wise distribution, Language-wise distribution, Year-wise starting pattern, Institutions-wise distribution of publishers, distributions of subject headings their accessibility of archives of online journals in Environmental science. |

Abstract : India has a large higher education sector – the third largest in the world in student numbers, after China and the United States. Next to China, India is the most populated country in the world. The purpose of education is well-rounded development. Students need a combination of arts, computer science, science, and humanities or literature courses to achieve this kind of development. A well-equipped and well-managed library is the foundation of modern educational structure. It is said that education without library services is like a body without soul, a vehicle without an engine, and building with bricks but no cement. The library is the chief instrument for accumulating and using our intellectual heritage. Formal education can be conducted effectively and efficiently only with well-equipped libraries. Abstract : This study examines the use of collections, Facilities and services at Central University of Karnataka Library. A well structured questionnaire was distributed among users during the academic session 2012 – 13. The questionnaires were checked and 335 questionnaires were found fit for analysis. The present study demonstrates and elaborates the various aspects of use of collections, Facilities and services, purpose of visit to the library; adequacy of library hours, infrastructure facilities, use and collections of documents both print and non – print. The paper also identifies the levels of use of various services provided, access of online databases services, database search techniques, and users' awareness about different types of library network. Highlights the satisfactions with overall functions of the library. Suggestions have been given to make the collections and services more beneficial for the academic community |

Abstract : This work focuses on the use of ISO 9000 standards for the introduction of Quality Management in information services, based on a comprehensive review of the literature. Library and information sector need for guidelines, self-appraisal tools, and real-world experiences. The ISO 9000 standards enable designers, manufacturers, service providers, vendors, and customers to work with the same set of quality standards, regardless of where they are located. The ISO 9000 standards are quality management systems and go beyond technical specification. Adhering to the standards will help in indentify the gaps and loopholes and out of date practices, in the library and information centers. It can provide a framework of managing processes and operations also. This is the only where ISO 9000 certification seems mandatory is contractual, where the users demands conformance to a specific quality assurance standard. |

The study also revealed that most of the users used both type of journals (e-journals and print journals). Abstract : Academic Library digitalization may be defined as information systems capable of storing, preserving and providing access to the knowledgeable output produced by the participants of a given organization. Within the specific environment of a college a digital library may underwrite to growth its brightness and importance within academia as it concentrates and promotes the results of research activities carried out in the organization. Closely related to concept of an institutional repository is the Open Access movement. Open Access means free online right to use to digital scholarly material – mainly peer-reviewed research articles but also to that authors wish to make freely available to all students online. Analysis of data collected from a sample of 147 faculties in Paavai College of Engineering, Namakkal by administering a questionnaire method reveals that 79.9 percent of the students are agree that the Digital library quality and information service, 86.0 percent of the respondents were felt that agree Digital Library is Helpful to obtain for students, 29.20 percent of respondents felt that satisfied in web based from the Libraries Services. |

Abstract : The present study attempts on the Scientometric analysis of International Journal of Information Science & Technology. It is based on the references appended to International Journal of “International Journal on Information Science & Technology” during 2009-2013. The present study is based on 1390 references appended to 75 articles contributed by the authors in International Journal on Information Science &Technology. It was found that journals citations are more in number than the other citations. In authorship pattern it was found that solo research is predominant then collaborative research. The degree of collaboration was calculated & it was found that the single authorship trend is Decrease gradually in International Journal of Information Science & Technology. It was seen that researchers cite latest documents. The study shows the period of International Journal of Information Science & Technology is 5 years approximately. |
