This study attempts to identify the bibliometric characteristics of the articles published in the various journals from WEB of Knowledge during the study period 1999-2013. Bibliometric analysis use data on numbers and authors of scientific publications and on articles and the citations therein (and in patents) to measure the “output” of individuals/research teams, institutions, and countries, to identify national and international networks, and to map the development of new (multi-disciplinary) fields of science and technology. The results show that the most prolific author is ‘Julien Heidi’ with 21(1.64%) articles and ‘Pinto Maria’ with 19 (1.49%). ‘The continent America ranked first by contributing 690 (52.43%) articles. followed by The Europe continent occupies the second position with 338 (25.68%). Among the key words Appeared in the publications shows that high frequency keywords were “information literacy” is topped with 221(24.07%) publications with followed by next “Information” has scored with 38 (4.13%) publications.

The study was geared toward effective implement of various library services and level of awareness of the school students on usage of library. Descriptive methodology has been utilized in this analysis. A complete of 100 questionnaires were distributed however 80 were returned. A structured form was designed for aggregation of information from the chosen sample cluster. The information obtained was analyzed by straightforward grade analysis to come up with tables and to attain conclusion.

In recent years the field of library and information science is witnessing a revolution in the area of school library due to stress on qualities library services, innovation and curriculum development and qualified and trained library personnel. Parent’s bodies like CBSE, NCERT, and KVS are patronizing the school library with technology and library science with innovations and curriculum development. This will be a boon to library science if a subject gets its genesis teaching form school education naturally its foundation and fruits going to be greater .This Papers discusses how CBSE and KVS contributed to the development of Library information Science and innovation undertaken in the training and other professional activities.

The study has tried to cover different aspects of Disaster Management (DM) and its effects of Library and Information Centres. The paper highlights the importance of library and information centres in managing a disaster or any emergency situation. Various components of information and communication technology helpful in the reduction of damage by natural disaster have also been discussed. The future vision from the librarian’s point of view in making a disaster reduction plan and making society aware of disasters is also suggested at the end of the paper.

In this article socio-economic status of the women librarians working in the affiliated colleges, under the directorate of higher education, Maharashtra have been studied. The author has been tried to find their father’s and spouse’s educational qualification, their occupation and income to reveal the socio economic status of women librarians as family’s status play a major role in defining the socio-economic status of women librarians.

Purpose: The study aims at presenting a bibliometric analysis of the contributions found in the ‘Malaysian Journal of Library and information science’ during the years 2007-2012. Various bibliometric measures like volume-wise distribution of articles, authorship-pattern, degree of collaboration, reference pattern, range of references, length of papers, the rank list of prolific authors, the ranked list of geographical affiliation of the authors, the subject categories etc are used under this study to fulfil the objectives. Methodology: Necessary data was collected from the MJLIS website by downloading all the issues published from 2007-2012. The data collected was tabulated and analysed using percentage method with the help of MS Excel 2007 Version. Findings: The study reveals that : Year 2011 has the most number of articles i.e. 28 (23.73 %) and the year 2007 has the least number of articles i.e. 14 (11.86 %). Volume 15 Number 1, Volume 16 Numbers 1 and 2 have contributed 10 articles, the maximum for a number.

Information is an indispensable for research and development as the air is essential for the survival of all living beings on earth. The pace of change happened with the advent of new information technologies and it has a key effect on people. The increasing role played by information technology in the development of library services is noteworthy. The present paper presents the condition and present situation of private engineering college libraries of Kolkata and attempts to study the impact of IT on library resources and services. The paper also attempts to discuss the fast development of Information Technology and its application in the library services. Today libraries are equipped with the Information Technology based services. Information Technology enabled services fulfill the information needs of the users at the right time in the right place to the right person. From the study, it is evident that IT infrastructure in the private engineering college libraries of Kolkata is still in different stage of development, the status of library automation in these libraries is not encouraging.

Since last few decades, advancement in technology brought out significant changes in every aspect of information services. Academic libraries are not exception of it as they are at the forefront of technological innovation. Academic libraries are now leveraging the new technology, especially web capabilities to provide new and enhanced services. Web- based reference and information services is the emerging reference service which enable users to get access to relevant sources and services round the clock. The present study examined the current status of web-based reference and information service and its use, rendered through the website of IIT Kanpur library.

Information marketing is a new concept which is very fastly emerging and finding a place in the philosophy of librarianship. In the modern age, life is not possible without information. Information is considered as important as food, shelter and water. In advanced countries, the concepts of marketing of information have already been accepted. While in developing countries, the concept is being accepted by the society slowly and gradually. For India is concerned it needs a lot of information in some fields and in some it can provide information to a number of countries. The paper explain marketing of information in college libraries. It also discusses benefits and difficulties of information marketing.

Open Access is simply the free online availability of digital contents, scholarly journal articles, research results which authors publish without expectation of payment and is based on an ethical argument that research funded by the public should be available to the public. DOAJ is the prime vehicle for publishing and providing access to open access literature. The present study assesses the availability of literature on dental science by their items, publishers, language, year, country etc.

And how brainstorming can be useful in library and information centers and in delivering their services in this electronic era. Library personnel are expected to provide right information at right time and right place. Brainstorming in this context can play a vital role in doing so. As it is well known an organization is a group of members, stake holder for same objective and purpose. And in this order there are a number of problems which come in day to day work officially or unofficially. It needs a team effort to find out the desired solution by taking in view the various possible aspects of the problem. In this connection, brainstorming plays a significant role to find out the expected solution out of problems prevailing by a group effort. It (Brainstorming) is a method by which solutions to various problems is sought in a positive and creative way. It is absolutely an intellectual and rational group effort.

College libraries are the most accessed libraries in academic field. Libraries are not only source of information to the students but also their main source of knowledge. The collection in college libraries helps the students to get merits in their academic carrier and it lessens the burden of purchasing the costly graduate books from the market. It acts as radar to guide the future of the students. A college which has a good collection of books and articles always attracts the students to acquire more information about the requisite subject. Thus this paper tries to highlight the few conditions of college libraries in Siliguri Sub-division and the challenges faced by them.
