Abstract :The paper examines the impact of web by the senior academicians (professors) of select universities. The study includes knowing and understanding know-how of computers also, to gauge awareness, satisfaction and knowledge of online resources. Printed questionnaires were administered among professors of select universities. The study shows that professors are making good use of online resources and print resources almost equally to satisfy their academic and research needs. It is also found that majority of senior academicians are able to handle laptops, tablets etc. But still there are some professors who need assistance from an expert or students.

Abstract :This paper is focused on members of faculty of Selected Polytechnic Colleges in Mysore City. For the collection of data structured questionnaire was prepared based on ACRL standard and random survey method was used. All the respondents 100.00% are in need of information. 74.48% faculty members can select the most appropriate search strategy to retrieve information. 77.55% faculty members can able to identify the correct keywords of a given topic. About 83.67% faculty members are aware of copy rights while accessing information. The output of the study shows that there is a need for the training programme on Information literacy skills of the faculty members of polytechnic colleges in mysore city.

Abstract :This paper examines a comparative study on neurology research publication in india and global levels from 2001to2006. The data used for the study were retrieved from MEDLARS database on CD ROM (2001 to 2006). Identification of journals titles was done using Ulrich’s periodical directory and the Index MEDICUS AND Web of Science. It covers growth of literature authorship pattern, Pearson’s correlation, linear regression, relative growth rate, doubling time and Bradford’s law of scattering with respect to the identification of core journals.

Abstract :The present paper examines the pattern of multiple authorship in five select biotechnology journals for the period of 2003-2012. The paper also examines the country-wise, institute-wise contribution across the geographical distribution, determining the number of authors per paper in biotechnology. The data from five biotechnology journals for the period of ten years collected was 10372. The results show the dominance in multi- authored articles 95.10% over single authored articles with 4.89%. The degree of collaboration is 0.95, along with Indian research output of 5.18%.

The search engines namely, Bing , Google and Lycos and metasearch engines namely Ixquick, Dogpile and Webcrawler are taken together to find out the extent of overlapping, precision and relative recall among them in the field of Medical Tourism in Kerala in which web resources are the only reliable information sources due to the multidisciplinary nature of Tourism.

Abstract :The present paper deals with the use of open access E-resources by the faculty and students of AECS Maaruti College of Dental science & research centre, Bangalore. The survey method was opted for study and 300 Questionnaire was distributed among faculty and Students, 88.33% were received in response.96.20% of users are aware of OA e-resources and 49.81% are unable differentiate OA Journals from subscribed journals. The users need a specialized training or workshop on using OA resources.

Abstract :This paper deals with the comparative study of process and policy of collection development and services of two central libraries, IIT Patna and Ropar. It will further help IIT professional and users. The study describes about the primary purpose of collection development that is to meet the informational needs of learners. Collection development refers to the process of building and maintaining the library’s entire materials such as, print, non-print, electronic and remote formats. Print and audio-visual resources purchased by library funds are for the use of user. The paper focuses on the collection development and services of two central libraries, IIT Patna and Ropar.This will provide new insight for other libraries to implement collection development and services. To make people understand, the right dose of information is required. Public library communicates information and endeavours to make people informed which is of utmost importance for the effective functioning of democracy. A wide range reading opens one’s windows to outside of the nation, as well as the whole world of knowledge, making a citizen free from his narrow attitude and outlook. Public libraries are the only possible neutral agencies to give unbiased political, educational, economic, cultural, social, and industrial information.

Abstract :The study explores to understand the perception of health among the citizens of Kalaburagi city, Karnataka, India. The structured interview schedule was used to collect the data from a sample of five hundred fifty-one citizens (N=551) employing proportionate stratified random sampling. The study aims to know the relationship between perception of health and demographic characteristics. Pearson’s correlation coefficient and Chi – square tests were used to identify the association between these variables. The results demonstrate a positive relationship between perception and awareness of health and negative correlation with knowledge. Chi-square test revealed that there is no association between perception of health vis-à-vis independent variables like age, gender, marital status, education qualification, income group, family size and socioeconomic status. The perception of health among citizens has a significant relationship with citizens self – rating of health and for whom they seek health information. The gap in information availability to the citizens may be the reason for a low knowledge of health. Studies are required to explore the possibilities to provide better health information to citizens.

The study employed the descriptive research method, using questionnaire for data collection.Most of the software professionals used Englishfollowed by Hindi language in day today activities. The present study shows that software professionals have been shown more affection to Library collection: also they preferred Non print material with Internet. Software professionals are using Internet as a media to get the information which is followed by online databases.
