Abstract :A watershed is an ideal unit for management of natural resources like land and water for achieving sustainable development. Watershed is defined as all the land and water areas which contribute runoff to a common point. A watershed is a geo-hydrological unit, which drains at a common point. The watershed above any point on a defined channel is therefore all the land and water areas which drain through that point (often the outlets). Watershed boundaries define the aerial extent of surface water drainage to a point. Watershed boundaries always follow the highest ridgeline around the stream channels and meet at the bottom or lowest point of the land where water flows out of the watershed.
