Abstract :The applications of Physics in Medicine are found in the scientific literature under several names, most commonly used as "Medical Physics" and to a relatively small extent can be found under various other combinations such as "BioMedical Physics", "Medical BioPhysics", "Applied Physics in Medicine", "Physics in Medicine", "Physics of Medicine", "Physics Applications in Medical Science", "Radiological Physics" or "Hospital Radio-physics".
Medical Physics (Fizica Medicala) first appeared in Romania in 1880 and is a branch of physics that aims to maintain and restore human and veterinary health with the help of high-performance medical equipment and physical agents and studying for this purpose, the physical processes of life, the properties, structures and functions of the organism, the causes and mechanisms of disease production, as well as the fundamental laws of physics applied in medicine for the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of diseases.
Health Physics (Fizica Sanata?ii) appeared in Romania in 1964 and is a subspecialization of Medical Physics and refers to the health status of the population following the use of radiation and physical agents under conditions of protection and security. |

Abstract :In 2013 a new directive on the exposure of workers to the electromagnetic field was adopted: Directive 2013/35/EU. In July 2016, this directive was transposed into Romanian legislation by Government Decision 520/2016.
The new directive is more complex and makes many changes to previous legislation. Due to its complexity, in 2015, the Commission published a practical guide for implementing the Directive 2013/35/EU. The guide represents a useful instrument for the assessment of risk, and exposure. However, parts of the guide address to specialists and the methods should be put into practice by competent services or persons.
In this context, the National Institute of Public Health got involved in actions concerning the clarification of provisions from the new legislation. To disseminate information, the specialist from this institute, made presentations in conferences and prepare technical documents and scientific papers. We also offer consultancy services and training to specialists, laboratories and services involved in assessing exposure to electromagnetic fields. |
