Marginal bone resorption at dental implant – RTG analysis | Author : Pejeva E, Papakoca K, Ambarkova V* and Todorovska G | Abstract | Full Text | Abstract :Dental implants are modern solutions, they compensate the lost tooth or teeth in the maxilla or mandible. Their target is to improve the mastication, esthetics and phonation. They are made of metal, metal alloys or non-metallic materials. An important factor for successful implantation is biocompactibility. Bone resorption is destruction of bone tissue, and the loss of bone tissue is conducted by osteoclasts and mononuclear cells. In this fi nal paper are described the peri-implant diseases exactly the peri-implant mucositis and peri-implantitis. This diseases are complication of ossteointegrated dental implants, and they make changes of the soft and bone tissue around the implant. They bring marginal bone resorption, around the dental implant, and they do destruction of the bone tissue. RTG analysis were made, with intention to see how much the marginal bone resorption is around the dental implants. |
| Clinical features of Tooth Avulsion Injuries in Vietnam | Author : Tran Thi My Hanh*, Tong Minh Son, Dam Ngoc Tram, Lê Long Nghia, Ha Ngoc Chieu, Le Thi Thuy Linh, Luong Minh Hang, Nguyen Ha Thu | Abstract | Full Text | Abstract :Objective: The purpose of this study is to characterize the clinical features of patients with avulsed
teeth.
Material and methods: This cross-sectional and retrospective study examined 81 patients with avulsion injuries and 150 avulsed teeth at National Hospital of Odonto – Stomatology, Ha Noi, Viet Nam, from January 2010 to December 2016.
Results: Dental avulsion was more common in males (61.90%) than in females. The age of 12 to 18 was the most frequent. Many causes including traffi c accidents (51.85%) and violence-related factors (37.04%). Avulsed teeth were often maxillary incisors (71.30%). 87.93% of avulsed teeth were intact; 61.73% of dental alveoli were not fractured; common damage to adjacent teeth is subluxation. Conclusion: Although clinical forms of avulsed teeth and local injuries are diverse, most common cases include avulsed maxillary central incisor. |
| Case report on management of oral mucocele in paediatric patients using cryosurgery and surgical excision | Author : Nandini R Kata* Shruthi Arekal and Sudheesh Kakkunath Mani | Abstract | Full Text | Abstract :Mucoceles are considered to be the most common oral lesion, with an approximate prevalence of around 2.4 cases per 1,000 people. The exact prevalence in children is not reported, but they are thought to occur more frequently in younger individuals when compared to adults. The age old treatment for mucocele involves surgical excision, which is associated with mental trauma and discomfort to the patient. Other treatment options that can be considered include cryosurgery, CO2 laser ablation, micro marsupialization, intralesional corticosteroid injection, marsupialization and electrocautery. Cryosurgery is the procedure where there is deliberate destruction of tissue by freezing, using liquid nitrogen. This treatment is well received by patients, as minimal or no local anesthesia is used, relative lack of discomfort, no bleeding and minimal to no scarring after healing. This paper discuses two cases of oral mucocele treated via surgical excision and cryosurgery. |
| Deformation suffered by the materials that make up the implant-supported overdentures with an increase in the number of implants: from 1 to 4. Bibliographic bibliography | Author : Marcos Moradas Estrada, Beatriz Álvarez López and José María Serrano* | Abstract | Full Text | Abstract :A bibliographic review was made on the evidence published in the last 10 years, 2006 - 2016 about the four alternative therapeutic options for a complete prosthesis in a complete mandibular edentulous patient: overdenture on 1, 3 or 4 implants, and with the All on protocol four. For this, one of the main search engines in biomedical sciences was used, such as PubMed, through the library of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences of the University of Oviedo. Throwing a total of 1539 results, that after the different fi lters of year of publication, percentile of the magazine and keywords were limited to 34 articles. |
