Alternative Methods of Solving Biasedness in Chi – Square Contingency Table |
Author : Okeke Charles C. |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :Some methods of solving the biasedness in Chi–square Contingency table statistic were considered. Phi Coefficient, Contingency Coefficient and Cramer’s V tools were employed to solve the biasedness in the use of Chi–square test. Our results show that any of Phi coefficient, Contingency coefficient or Cramer’s V can be used to describe the association between two variables if the data matrix is 2 x 2. Contingency Coefficient was recommended as a good statistic when the matrix dimension is the same while the Cramer’s V is most adequate when the data matrix differs. |

Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :This paper takes the dynamic scheduling of intelligent RGV as the research object and explores the problem of materiel machining of intelligent RGV for one and two procedures. In the process of establishing a materiel machining operation model for one procedure, firstly, the banker algorithm is used to provide a scheduling strategy for the RGV, dynamically predict the evolution process of the resource allocation process, and determine the order in which the CNC performs the task. Then, the non-preemptive least laxity first concept is introduced to improve the utilization rate of CNC and minimize the time for the computer machine tools CNC to wait for response. In order to simplify the calculation and improve the feasibility, based on the main idea of the banker algorithm, the evolution of the situation is only carried out in three levels, which makes the algorithm calculate moderately and has certain reference value for the prediction of the evolution process. Moreover, in the process of establishing a materiel machining operation model for two procedures, the bat algorithm is used to establish the model from the macroscopic perspective, and finally the dynamic scheduling strategy of RGV is obtained. In this paper, the dynamic scheduling strategy of intelligent RGV established for the materiel machining for one and two procedures provides a theoretical basis for the development of RGV dynamic scheduling strategy in the actual production process. |

Author : Lilian O. Ngonadi ; Francis C. Eze |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :Some variations of central composite designs (CCD) under complete and partial replications of cube, axial and center points are studied using A, D and G optimality criteria. The results obtained suggest that complete replication of the cube, axial and center points are better than the partial replication of cube, axial and center points under the A and D optimality criteria studied while it varies under G optimality criterion. The partial replication of the cube, axial and center point for all the CCDs studied, the partial replicated cube point is D optimal but varies under A and G optimality criteria. |

Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :Some methods used to analysis between government wage policy on minimum wage saga in Nigeria were considered. Descriptive Statistics, The Ordinary Least Square technique; Correlation Analysis tools were employed to ascertain the significant difference between government wage policy on minimum wage saga in Nigeria. Data were collected for period 1974 – 2000.Our results shows that year of review is negatively and significant on government wage policy on minimum wage saga in Nigeria. Consumer Price Index is negatively and significant on government wage policy on minimum wage saga in Nigeria. Also, there is a perfect negative association on year of review between real minimum wage on government wage policy on minimum wage saga in Nigeria and it is significant, with a perfect positive association year of review between consumer price index on government wage policy on minimum wage saga in Nigeria and it is significant and there is a negative moderate association on real minimum wage between consumer price index on government wage policy on minimum wage saga in Nigeria and it is significant. This study therefore recommends that government should reduce the cost of governance and improve the living standard of workers by fixing a better wage. Finally, diversifying the Nigeria economy is necessary for states to enhance their internally generated revenue and step into creation of employment opportunities and better pay package. |

Choice of Confounding in the 2k Factorial Design in 2b Blocks |
Author : Francis C. Eze |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :In 2k complete factorial experiment, the experiment must be carried out in a completely randomized design. When the numbers of factors increase, the number of treatment combinations increase and it is not possible to accommodate all these treatment combinations in one homogeneous block. In this case, confounding in more than one incomplete block becomes necessary. In this paper, we considered the choice of confounding when k > 2. Our findings show that the choice of confounding depends on the number of factors, the number of blocks and their sizes. When two more interactions are to be confounded, their product module 2 should be considered and thereafter, a linear combination equation should be used in allocating the treatment effects in the principal block. Other contents in other blocks are generated by multiplication module 2 of the effects not in the principal block. Partial confounding is recommended for the interactions that cannot be confounded. |

Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :This study focuses on Monte Carlo Methods in parameter estimation of production function. The ordinary least square (OLS) method is used to estimate the unknown parameters. The Monte Carlo simulation methods are used for the data generating process. The Cobb-Douglas production model with multiplicative error term is fitted to the data generated. From tables 1.1 to 1.3, the mean square error (MSE) of ?1 are 0.007678, 0.001972 and 0.001253 respectively for sample sizes 20, 40 and 80. Our finding showed that the mean square error (MSE) value varies with the sum of the powers of the input variables. |

Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :Soft set theory was originally proposed as a general mathematical tool for dealing with uncertainty. Soft multiset and fuzzy soft multiset are generalization concepts obtained from soft set theory. As a generlazation of fuzzy soft multiset we introduce the definition of intuitionistic fuzzy soft multiset and its operations and study some of their properties. Finally, we give an application in decision making problems. |

Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :In regression analysis, it is relatively necessary to have a correlation between the response and explanatory variables, but having correlations amongst explanatory variables is something undesired. This paper focuses on five methodologies for handling critical multicollinearity, they include: Partial Least Square Regression (PLSR), Ridge Regression (RR), Ordinary Least Square Regression (OLS), Least Absolute Shrinkage and Selector Operator (LASSO) Regression, and the Principal Component Analysis (PCA). Monte Carlo Simulations comparing the methods was carried out with the sample size greater than or equal to the levels (n>p) considered in most cases, the Average Mean Square Error (AMSE) and Akaike Information Criterion (AIC) values were computed. The result shows that PCR is the most superior and more efficient in handling critical multicollinearity problems, having the lowest AMSE and AIC values for all the sample sizes and different levels considered. |

Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :In this paper, we determine the number of elements defined on each topology of a topological space for open and clopen topological spaces T(n) for 1=n=4, which is called k-element. A graph of the relationship between topologies for open and clopen set for n=3 are discussed. Hence; T(n,k) is clopen for n=1 if and only if k=2n. |

Self-regulation in Mathematics Courses for Engineering Based on Study and Research Paths |
Author : Echavarría Cepeda Lenin Augusto ; Díaz Barron Luis Rey ; Hernández Vargas Yazpik |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :Several studies have shown that there is a positive correlation between self-regulation and the academic performance of students. Self-regulated learning is the set of processes that the learners deploy to achieve their personal goals and that have to do with the learning strategies they use, with the answers they offer when evaluating the effectiveness of learning and with the motivations they have. To this end, the Study and Research Paths (SRPs) strategy is proposed to encourage better self-regulation processes in the students of the Unidad Profesional Interdisciplinaria de Ingeniería Campus Guanajuato (UPIIG) of the Instituto Politécnico Nacional (IPN). This strategy was proposed by Yves Chevallard within the framework of the Anthropological Theory of the Didactic and the World Questioning Paradigm. Students of the courses of Numerical Methods and Numerical Analysis of the academic programs of engineering in: Aeronautics, Automotive Systems, Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical formed the study group. This research work presents the analysis of the results of the initial phase of the measurement of the evolution of the self-regulatory processes that students use in the development of engineering projects that need the application of numerical methods for the analysis of situations, the decision making and the development of new products. |

Definition of Derivative Function: Logical Error in Mathematics |
Author : Temur Z. Kalanov |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :The critical analysis of the foundations of the differential calculus is proposed. Methodological basis of the analysis is the unity of formal logic and of rational dialectics. It is shown that differential calculus is fictitious mathematical theory because the concept of the limiting process is the starting point for definition of the derivative function. The passage to the limit “zero” in the definition of the derivative function signifies that the variable quantity takes the only essential value “zero”. This fact leads to the following errors. (1) The definition of the derivative function is based on the violation of the necessary and sufficient condition for the validity of the relationship between the increment of the function argument and the increment of the function because the increment of the function is divided by the zero increment of the argument in the case of the limiting process. (2) The definition of the derivative function is based on the contradiction which is that the increment of the argument is both zero and not zero in the same relationship. This contradiction represents a violation of the formal-logical law of identity and of the formal-logical law of the lack of contradiction. (3) The definition of the differential of function is based on two contradictory (mutually exclusive) features: the differential of the argument is not zero while the increment of the argument in the definition of the derivative function is zero. |

Author : Olanrewaju Rasaki Olawale |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :This paper proposes and describes the acumen on alternate two covariates linear Cosine and Sine regression functions that possessed a noisy-wave or tone frequencies via wave-trend of actualized observations of regressors and responsive variable needed in fitting a wavy equation of trigonometry regression. The method of maximum likelihood was used in estimating parameters associated to the Cosine and Sine alternate functions via vector coefficients as well as their distributional and residual properties. The estimations obtained via the method were enthralled to the noisy-wave mesokurtic observations of babies’ rate of heartbeats exactly an hour after birth (HR1), two hours after birth (HR2) and three hours after birth (HR3). The implementation and illustrative application was via R using the heartbeat dataset. It was gleaned that the trigonometry equation line ....... |
