Factor determining the business capital structure in Vietnam: Studying the efficiency of business chain |
Author : Diep Dang Ngoc || Minh Duong Anh |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :This article empirically examines the typical factors of businesses that affect capital structure
and macroeconomic environment. Using the balance sheet of 200 companies in Vietnam over 10 years (from
2007 to 2016), the author found empirical evidence to support the hypotheses related to asymmetric information
theory, agency cost theory, trade off theory in determining the capital structure of enterprises in an emerging
market economy. Special macroeconomic cycle significantly affects the financial decisions and capital structure
of the company. |

Numerical Simulation Studies on Stall Suppression of a NACA0015 Airfoil |

Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :This study aims to achieve an improved airfoil performance at low Reynolds number, and to
determine the optimum position and size of rectangular cross-section burst control plate (BCP) to suppress stall
in airfoil. The type of airfoil used in the present study is NACA0015 (National Advisory Committee for
Aeronautics) airfoil with 200 mm of chord (c) length. Here, rectangular cross-section burst control plates with
different sizes and at different locations are investigated numerically at the low Reynolds number of 1.6×105
.
Total of three positions (0.05c, 0.1c and 0.2c from the leading edge of airfoil), and four sizes (with heights 0.3
mm, 0.7mm, 1mm and 1.5 mm, and constant width 4 mm) of rectangular BCPs are simulated in ANSYS Fluent
software using Transition SST model. The results indicate that the rectangular cross-section burst control plate
is an effective device in the suppression of airfoil stall. For 0.7 mm and 1 mm height BCPs, the stall angle is
postponed by 2° for all positions, while for 0.3 mm and 1.5 mm height BCPs, the reduction in sudden fall of lift
can be observed but at the cost of reduction in maximum lift coefficient. Among various configurations, the 1mm
height BCP located at 0.2c position is found to be most effective in the suppression of stall.

Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :Unconventional computing is computing using unusual methods or unusual devices. It
generates novel concepts and implementations of computing devices based on non-silicon information
processing in physical, chemical, and living systems. It is a relatively new field which covers a wide range of
applications. It seeks to develop new algorithmic paradigms and physical computing substrates. This paper
provides a brief introduction to unconventional computing.

Mode 1 Fatigue Cracking in A Fiber Reinforced Metal Matrix Composite |
Author : Agatha Ijomah I. 2Nkemakolam Nwankwo E. 3Cynthia Daniel Mkpume C |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :: The mode I fatigue crack growth behavior of a fiber reinforced metal matrix composite with weak
interfaces is examined. In the longitudinal orientation, matrix cracks initially grow with minimal fiber failure.
The tractions exerted by the intact fibers shield the crack tip from the applied stress and reduce the rate of crack
growth relative to that in the unreinforced matrix alloy. In some instances, further growth is accompanied by fiber
failure and a concomitant loss in crack tip shielding. The measurements are compared with model predictions,
incorporating the intrinsic fatigue properties of the matrix and the shielding contributions derived from the intact
fibers. The magnitude of the interface sliding stress inferred from the comparisons between experiment and theory
is found to be in broad agreement with values measured using alternate techniques. The results also indicate that
the interface sliding stress degrades with cyclic sliding, an effect yet to be incorporated in the model. In contrast,
the transverse fatigue properties are found to be inferior to those of the monolithic matrix alloy, a consequence
of the poor fatigue resistance of the fiber/matrix interface |

Analysis of Artificial Neural Network Model Against Empirical Model (Okumara-Hata Model) For Predicting Pathloss In Gsm Networks |
Author : Umesi, Cosmos. 2 ILO,Somtoochukwu. F., 3Dr. K AKPADO and 4Osondu U. S |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :Radio propagation prediction is one of the fundamentals of radio network planning. It is
thereforevital that the propagation prediction models are as accurate as possible; taking into account the
practical limitations that characterized the propagation environment. A drive test was conducted to obtain the
field measured data with which the models were appraised. This was done to determine the most suitable model
for GSM network deployment in Makurdi, Nigeria. The analysis of the results showed that Okumura – Hata Model,
COST 231 – Hata Model, Standard Propagation Model and Stanford University Interim Model gave Root Mean
Square Error values of 11.39 dB, 11.59 dB, 8.11 dB and 18.48 dB respectively for GSM900; and 10.75 dB, 9.78
dB, 12.39 dB and 16.99 dB respectively for GSM 1800. Therefore, it was concluded that Standard Propagation
Model and COST 231 – Hata Model would be more suitable for GSM 900 and GSM 1800 network planning and
deployment respectively in Umuahia City,
Nigeria.

Metal Dustbin Fabrication (Project designed to help combat the problem of garbage collection in the Cities and Towns of Sierra Leone)- a case study in Kenema |
Author : Kepia Boima Conteh |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :Government and well meaningful Sierra Leoneans have tried and are still trying to keep the cities
and towns clean. In striving to keep the cities and the towns clean, they designed some of the garbage bins
(dustbins) by opening empty drums which easily attract particles rust because rain water settles on them. As a
result, also they provide convenient breeding grounds for mosquitoes They also use bamboo sticks to design the
garbage bins, which allow easy drainage of any water that tries to settle in them. The disadvantage is that they are
not durable as they are easily affected by the sun and by the rain. The reseacher has therefore thought of designing
a garbage bin (Conteh Bin) which will salvage this entire problem. This bin is durable, cost effective and can not
only keep the cities and town clean but it will also beautifies towns and cities
