A total of 50 adolescents from a selected school were selected using simple random sampling technique after meeting the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The pre-test was conducted using a structured questionnaire in the language of their preference after obtaining administrative permission from the school. Health education was imparted using Power Point. Seven days later post-test was conducted using the same structured questionnaire. Data collected was analyzed by using SPSS version 11. The pre-test knowledge score mean percentage was 47.28%, post test knowledge score mean percentage was 66.8% and ‘Z’ value was 8.71 which is statistically significant at p=0.05. The result of the study demonstrated that health education on family life education is effective in improving the knowledge level of adolescent girls. This study would benefit the adolescent girls and in turn the society at large as they are the future mothers and responsible family members |

Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :In modern life many disasters, accidents, natural calamities occur & identification of living or dead persons in such incidents are tough task since the field of forensic come into existance to deal with identification of a person for medico legal purpose.Aim: To determining the gender of individuals by mathematical method using measurement of the frontal sinus through para nasal sinuses radiograph.Material and Method: The study group consist of about 48 person both male and female are included. Digital Para nasal sinuses radiograph will be taken using standard technique for the evaluation of frontal sinus. Radiographic digital images will be imported and later area (height×width×area) of the frontal sinus will be evaluated. Conclusion: The accuracy obtained in this study may be due to individual variation of frontal sinus is too great to attempt sex determination from this structure. |

Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :Background: The students in medical and dental courses are usually focused on achieving good grades in the examinations. They tend to forget the knowledge gained in pre and paraclinical subjects and hence application of knowledge to the practical life situations suffers. There is a need to change this attitude of “learning only for exams” to “learning for applying the knowledge” for good care of the patients. It is well known that integrated teaching leads to better understanding of the topic than the traditional teaching. Aims and Objectives: Aim was to promote active self learning and develop skills of integrating knowledge. The objectives were to: (1)Introduce the integrated interactive learning method through two departments, (2) To obtain feedback from the students and faculty. Methods: An innovative approach of integrated interactive tutorial was tried among second year students of Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) course. Students were asked to prepare the Physiology and Pathology of a common clinical condition over a week’s time. During the session, students asked questions on physiology and pathology of that condition from each other. The teachers acted only as facilitators. These sessions were conducted for three consecutive years. After each session, the authors obtained the feedback of students and faculty on their satisfaction and learning experience of this alternative learning strategy. Results: Majority of students felt that this method of learning helped to develop reasoning skills, motivated them towards active self learning and leads to better and deeper understanding of the topic. Conclusion: Integrated interactive tutorial proves to be an easy and learner centred approach to effective learning |
