CHINA PAKISTAN ECONOMIC CORRIDOR: PAKISTAN’S GEOPOLITICAL STANDING BETWEEN THE US AND CHINA | Author : Dr Shabana Fayyaz | Abstract | Full Text | Abstract :The present research study encapsulates Pakistan’s geopolitical standing vis-à-vis the US and China with the commencement of China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). It also reflects upon the multi-dimensional aspects of the Pakistan’s geo-strategic importance for both, by primarily focusing on security, economics and politics. Parallel to this, Pakistan’s strategic perspective regarding the onset of CPEC and its initiatives to further solidify its relationship with China is highlighted. The impact of the initiation of CPEC upon the US – Pak equation is also deliberated. Theoretical prism of ‘Complex Interdependence’ put forth by Robert Koehane and Joseph Nye is employed to explain, how economic and social interactions pave way for the mutual security stakes across the board. One of the key inference is, overlapping and interconnectedness of the geopolitical, geo-economic and geostrategic theoretical ideas and practices are relevant at the global and regional level equally. |
| EXPLORING GENDER SUSCEPTIBILITIES IN CLIMATE JUSTICE | Author : Dr.Khalid Mahmood Shafi , Ms Rahmeen Fatima Malik , Muhammad Tariq Niaz | Abstract | Full Text | Abstract :Climate change, through the lens of climate catastrophes, is a threat multiplier amplifying social, political, and economic pressures in unstable and conflict-affected environments. Gender is not a neutral variable when discussing policies for mitigation, recovery, and resilience. Climate change disproportionately impacts women and girls, intensifying existing gender disparities and increasing risks to health and safety. During climate crises, women and girls are at an increased risk of gender-based violence, human trafficking, child marriage, and sexual assault. Gender empowerment is a critical element in formulating a wholesome climate change response framework. It is essential to incorporate the gender perspective in climate change policy analysis to ensure the most vulnerable populations are catered. This research examines the top five and bottom five countries on women, peace, and security index and how each mitigates and responds to climate change. The research aims to establish and analyze the link between gender empowerment and climate policy. |
| REIMAGINING SELF-DIRECTED LEARNING LANGUAGE IN THE AGE OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE: A SYSTEMATIC REVIEW | Author : Ajab Ali Lashari, Dr Sumera Umrani | Abstract | Full Text | Abstract :The field of motivation, particularly in language learning, has experienced a significant surge in the popularity of self-directed language learning, primarily owing to the emergence of AI-assisted methodologies. This study aims to explore the potential benefits and implications of utilizing Chat GPT, a sophisticated artificial intelligence language model, to enhance and facilitate self-directed second language (L2) learning.
The underpinning of this research depends upon examining an extensive synthesis of digital academic publications. The primary objective of this work is to provide a comprehensive examination and synthesis of the existing corpus of scholarly research on artificial intelligence (AI) in the context of learning a second language (L2 Self), as demonstrated in respected online academic publications. The primary objective of these scholarly articles was to examine the influence of ChatGPT on the development of second language (L2) proficiency, namely in the domains of L2 acquisition, L2 written expression, L2 oral communication, and L2 reading comprehension. A search methodology was utilized to retrieve relevant scholarly literature from Elsevier and Scopus Indexed Journals, as well as the Google Scholar databases, during one year. The procedure mentioned above led to the finding of N=25 articles from journals indexed by Elsevier and Springer links, Tandof Online and n=15 articles from Google Scholar. The relevant concepts include ChatGPT, learning a second language (L2 learning), artificial intelligence, and learning a language. The papers utilized in the analysis were obtained from reputable and well-regarded scholarly journals. The findings indicate a need for further academic research on the applications and outcomes of ChatGPT in second-language self-learning. This highlights the need for further research to assess the effectiveness of AI and develop guidelines for incorporating it into language education settings. |
