BEM-ESTAR ANIMAL E A PERCEPÇÃO DOS ALUNOS DE MEDICINA VETERINÁRIA QUANTO AO USO DE ANIMAIS VIVOS EM AULAS PRÁTICAS | Author : João Luiz Bermond Junior, Danieli Rankel Fernandes, Renato Travassos Beltrame | Abstract | Full Text | Abstract :This study aimed to the preparation of a synthetic substitute model based on silicone and latex tubes to assess the perception of animal well being, the knowledge and receptivity of the students on the possible adoption of new techniques to be included in academic environment. Questionnaires were applied to the students of the 6th period of the course of Veterinary Medicine of a private educational institute before and after the presentation of the replacement model. The questionnaire was evaluated in quantitative and qualitative way from the answer content analysis method and percentages. It was possible to analyze that the students had a little concise assessment of "what is animal well being." Regarding the adoption of new techniques in the academic environment, 87,50% of the students demonstrate receptivity to new techniques that may decrease the use of live animals. Of these, 81,25% accept the new model so they could train first before using the living animal model, being very important for practical training and entering in the academia ethics and respect for animals. |
| AVALIAÇÃO DE VITAMINA D NA POPULAÇÃO DE MARILÂNDIA | Author : Dalilah Nunes Albani, Orlando Chiarelli Neto | Abstract | Full Text | Abstract :Vitamin D is a steroid hormone, fundamental for the functioning and bone development, obtained through diet or originated from exposure to ultraviolet B light from the sun. This study aims to analyze the vitamin D values of the population of Marilândia city-ES. Sixty-five samples from patients supported by research ethics committee of the UNESC (CAAE: 66759517.3.0000.5062) were analyzed through the chemiluminescent technique. Statistical analysis was performed using the ANOVA test a p<0.05. The graphics were built by Excel 2013 program. Data showed vitamin D deficiency in 32% of patients analyzed, since more than 75% were exposed less than two hours/day. In addition to the low daily exposure, skin type has been a relevant factor for vitamin D insufficiency; 43% of the brown (phototype III) presented insufficient. Although 71% of respondents did not use sunscreen daily, the study showed that 57% did not absorb sufficient UV-B light. For this reason, the health professional needs to focus on sun exposure adjusted to the protection factor (SPF) of the protector. This is critical because data also showed that 76% of those who lack vitamin D do not expose themselves to the sun more than 2 hours a day. The data, therefore, indicate that 1/3 of the sampled population of Marilandia is at risk of aging with osteoporosis and therefore it is necessary to propose emergency strategies for the treatment of the risk population. |
| ANÁLISE FOTOQUÍMICA E MICROBIOLÓGICA DE PROTETORES SOLARES PRODUZIDOS NAS FARMÁCIAS DE COLATINA–ES | Author : Alana Lacerda, Carlos Frans Benz, Orlando Chiarelli Neto | Abstract | Full Text | Abstract :UVA and UVB radiation from the sun reaches the surface of the skin and can cause DNA damage by photochemical mechanisms. Chemical compounds contained in anti-suns are important for photoprotection because they block UV radiation preventing damage to human skin. Many of the protectors are produced in drugstores of Colatina-ES, however, there is no information to consumers about the quality of the products. A sunscreen contaminated with microorganisms can interfere with effectiveness as well as the sun protection factor and cause premature aging of the skin. Therefore, it is necessary the microbiological and photochemical analysis of the manipulated photoprotectors. Samples of sunscreens produced in six drugstores of Colatina city were submitted to microbiological analysis. Statistical analyzes of variance (ANOVA) were performed in triplicate a p <0.05. Selective agaves were used as culture medium. Although they belong to the normal microbiota, Staphylococcus aureus was found in all samples evaluated. The detection may be associated with incorrect procedures in the handling process. On the other hand, all the manipulated had chemical structures capable of protecting the skin against UVA and UVB irradiation since the inorganic and organic photoprotectors found reach the UV protection range. |
| PROMOÇÃO DA LITERATURA CIENTÍFICA NO CENTRO UNIVERSITÁRIO DO ESPIRITO SANTO – UNESC | Author : Daniele Sabrina Cherubino Simões | Abstract | Full Text | Abstract :University Libraries have many functions, for example, support for teaching, research and extension activities in the academic community. Another important role is the dissemination of its information media through books, periodicals, electronic or printed. These journals, in general, present results of academic research, experimental essays and literature reviews, corroborating directly with the global development of science and technology. Understanding the importance of these publications, the Libraries System of the University Center of Espírito Santo (UNESC) began to stimulate the scientific reading with the teaching staff and student of the institution. |
