An Islamic institution needs a method to perform their role in coaching the ummah (Islamic da’wah). A da’wah through deeds and speaking should be supported by an Islamic concept of da’wah, well-planned, and aligned with the changing era. This method of da’wah is applied by the Assalaam Islamic Studies institution of Manado (SIAM). One of the programs is majlis taklim. Since it was established on 9 April 1994, this institution has been continuously innovative and dinamic in developing majlis taklim under its supervision. Its long journey has started out with four majlis taklim. Today, its majlis taklim has rapidly grown in numbers. There are 39 majlis which are devided into 7 districts. The strategies of majlis coaching are 1) empowerment of teachers in the institution and 2) the dinamic of majlis activities which are conducted in three models. They are a) weekly recitation, b) monthly one, and c) yearly one.

The bi al-hal da’wah is commonly conducted by the Tablig pilgrims. They leave their homes to teach Islam using the concept of al khuruj. The concept of personal identity search through khuruj is in fact, also applied in establishing a sakinah family. Khuruj can forge every member’s mentality, spirituality and phisical. Through khuruj, husband-wife sincerity in their family is solely for Allah Swt. Thus, whenever a problem occur in their household, they will simply turn it to Allah through dzikir and du’a. It cannot be ignore the fact that they often used misogynous hadis. This is due to their persistence to adopt a way of life which is strictly based on a Qur’an and al hadis while at the same time, neglecting the current society social conditions.

Da’wah is an obligation and responsibilty of Moslem in spreading the teaching of Islam as stated in al Quran and Hadits toward the ‘Amr ma’ruf nahi munkar. An alternative for da’wah is through film. The advaced technology today benefits into this media effectiveness. Along with the recent development of Indonesian cinematography, movie makers enthusiastically produce their best creations. Those creations become da’wah media to spread the religion teachings to society through simple and entertaining stories that exploit topics closed to everyday events without omitting motivational values of Islam. The construction of a film, for example, is an essence of televisioning a certainculture which is in turn represents cultural values through scenarios created. One the film of this category is Dalam Mihrab Cinta.

Syarhil al-Quranin da’wah was first introduced and performed at the National MTQ XV in Bandar Lampung in 1988. The concept of Syarhil al-Quran da’wah is an art performance in a group of three people. Until 2002, this da’wah has not gotten a good accepteance in community. Then, the Padepokan for Syarhil Quran in Lampung was established to intensively train and coach santri in order to succeed the comig competition in the regional and national levels. Furthermore, they are to succeed performing in front of the community so that syarhil Quran is well known. The coaching strategy implemented at the padepokan are script memorising, mental coaching, vocal and performance exercising, spiritual coaching, and kinship coaching.

Folksong is one of universal elements of a culture. Folksongs, as a part of the local culture, not only entertain and educate but also become a medium for Islamic da’wah. One of folksongs used by the Muna peopleto deliver Islamic da’wah messages is Kabhanti Kantola. The messages in this folksong are inserted through stanzas. People who watch and listen to Kabhanti Kantola acknowledge and understand the da’wah contained. This research aims to describe and interprete the forms of Islamic da’wah messages contained in Kabhanti Kantola in Muna People. The research findings shows that Kabhanti Kantola in Muna people is used as one of Islamic da’wah media. The messages that composed and sung by the singers reflect Islamic teachings. Among Islamic da’wah messages which are inserted in the texts are 1) message to strengthen faith toward Allah 2) message to be grateful for the blessings of Allah 3) message to avoid forbidden objects 4) message to respect other people 5) message to ask for forgiveness.
