Abstract :Irrational use of medicines has bothered the world. Developing economies have done better than developing, in restricting it. Some developing countries like Bhutan have excelled on this front but most have not woken up to the challenge. These seem to be enjoying the comfort zone of laziness; least realizing that irrational use of medicines is going to affect their countries in the long run. Allowing the irrationality pressure to build and then looking at the world for financial assistance is not going to work because economically developed countries have their own priorities to meet and none exists for philanthropy. Irrationality is known to cause early antimicrobial resistance, early loss of effectiveness of newer medicines, increasing the morbidity and mortality, increasing the cost of therapy, decreasing the man-days, and blowing scarce financial resources of the governments in adopting patchwork measures. Enough of slumber and clarion call for immediate realization of problem.
