Abstract :Man has succeeded very much in going outside of himself and has made many achievements.
He has travelled through the space, found out many machines, many stars etc.But man has
not succeeded as he must have done in one field except a very few who have really searched
within and transformed themselves and others into great self-realised,contented human
beings, who are not moved by the pleasures and pains of life The epic character Nachikethas
is a best example of this field’s best motivator.India’s epics are the greatest recorded epics
known to man.It has been said that nothing exists that cannot be found in the epics of India.
Bhagavat Geetha is the song of God.This literature continues to enchant readers and scholars
the world over. This paper is an effort to search in a very limited way the spirit of this culture
and its treasures.I bow down to the great power which is the power behind the entire
existence. This power is smaller than the smallest and bigger than the biggest. Symbology is
very common in all the ancient literature and epics. This paper is an effort to inculcate more
interest in the present generation about the beauty and highly esteemed principles and values
of the characters of the epics and the reality of life. |

Interconnecting Theory A and ABC Model of Organizational Research Performance |
Author : P. S. Aithal , & P. M. Suresh Kumar |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :The higher education and research institutions have an objective of creating new knowledge
continuously using their people as resources and success of the organizations depend on how much
new knowledge they have created during a given period of time. A simple measurement system for
calculating annual research index of organizations namely ABC model has been developed by Aithal
P. S. and Suresh Kumar during 2016. As per this model, the annual research performance can be
determined by knowing the research index of the institution/ individuals and is calculated by
considering the total number of research publications during that period. Application of the theory of
organizational performance namely ‘Theory A’ can improve research productivity of educational
institutions. This is a management strategy which believes in delivering target as responsibility,
feeling of creativity and contribution for motivation, identifying with the organization as commitment
and accountability as a hallmark of efficiency. In this paper, we have interconnected Theory A of
organization performance with ABC model of research productivity in order to enhance research
productivity of the organizations. |

An Empirical study on the importance of Task Shifting in current Health Care System |
Author : Architha Aithal , Ateendra Jha |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :Many developing countries are facing a crisis in human health resources due to a critical
shortage of health workers. Despite of many trained health care professionals our health care
system is struggling to provide optimum services to the patients. Gaps still exist with respect to
patient care, which are unevenly delivered. The data collected from 228 subjects reveals that
only 7.01% of the subjects have received counseling always, 59.65% think that counseling
should be given and only 41.66% are satisfied with current health care system while 56.57% are
not satisfied. Our study shows that there is a huge burden on health care professionals due to a
high number of the patient load which leads to the hindrance in optimum patient care and finally
leads to the degradation in the quality of health care services. Now time has approached when
the term task shifting should be taken seriously especially in the health care sectors. Pharmacists,
an ignored profession in the health care sector have a crucial role for optimum patient care. It is
the demand of the scenario that pharmacist should be taken as a key role player between the
patient and prescriber. A proper communication between the patient and prescriber can be
established only if all health care professionals will start working to assist each other not to
compete with each other |

Cloud Computing Security Issues - Challenges and Opportunities |
Author : Vaikunth Pai T. & P. S. Aithal |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :Cloud computing services enabled through information communication technology delivered to a
customer as services over the Internet on a leased basis have the capability to extend up or down their
service requirements or needs. In this model, the infrastructure is owned by a third party vendor and
the cloud computing services are delivered to the requested customers. Cloud computing model has
many advantages including scalability, flexibility, elasticity, efficiency, and supports outsourcing noncore activities of an organization. Cloud computing offers an innovative business concept for
organizations to adopt IT enabled services without advance investment. This model enables
convenient, on-request network accessibility to a shared pool of IT computing resources like networks,
servers, storage, applications, and services. Cloud computing can be quickly provisioned and released
with negligible management exertion or service provider interaction. Even though organizations get
many benefits of cloud computing services, many organizations are slow in accepting cloud
computing service model because of security concerns and challenges associated with management of
this technology. Security, being the major issues which hinder the growth of cloud computing service
model due to the provision of handling confidential data by the third party is risky such that the
consumers need to be more attentive in understanding the risks of data breaches in this new
environment. In this paper, we have discussed the security issues, the challenges and the opportunities
in the adoption and management of cloud computing services model in an organization |

Innovation a Key Towards Employee Engagement |
Author : Shailashri V. T. , & Sureka Shenoy |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :Every company wants to succeed in capturing the market and maximizing the profit. With the
changes in technology and increase in globalization the world has become a village which
leads to high competition and complexity in performance of work. If an organization has to
sustain in business they need to change according to times and become proactive. To meet the
pace of change in the society the organization should create a atmosphere of innovation in the
organization. Innovation comes when there is freedom of thought, and constant
encouragement from the top management. As companies are not only competing with
domestic companies but with companies all over the world, this is when innovation is needed
in a company. How can a company be different from others? Innovation can only be achieved
when there are talented human resource and good H R practices in the company. The HR
practices of the company should foster better thinking and involvement every individual in
the organization. Innovation in companies is through talented minds in the company.
Company has to acquire, develop and retain these people. When individuals get opportunities
to innovate they tend to be engaged in the organization. Employee engagement is a key
driving factor to the success of any organization. This paper is a case study of the Tata
consultancy services TCS. Secondary data is used to identify how TCS manages to retain and
engage the best talented workforce. The HRM practices of TCS are understood in depth and a
linkage between HR practices and innovative talented and employee engagement is drawn. |

ABCD Analysis of Recently Announced New Research Indices |
Author : P. S. Aithal |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :The ability of a researcher and quality of research publications are generally measured by the
number of research publications and the number of citations they receive during a given
observation period. There are a number of research indices commonly used to assess the
ability and hence the quantity of research along with the quality of a research publication.
Research indices are calculated based on either citation values of research publications of a
research scholar or the number of research papers published by a research scholar for a given
period. Apart from generally used citation indices like H-index, i10-index, G-index, and based
on argument on why certain research publications do not attract citations initially for some
years, it is found that the best method of identifying the contribution to research is calculating
the annual research index for an author by considering the annual research publications.
Recently, we have suggested some of the new research indices used for calculating research
productivity of individuals as well as a team of people in an organization which include ARPIndex – (Annual Research Publication Index), RC-Index – (Research Continuation Index),
RE-Index (Research Expansion Index), Project Productivity Index, and Cost Index. In this
paper, we have made an attempt to study these five indices by using our own technique of
qualitative analysis of a system or concept called ABCD analysis/listing. |

A Study on Enhancing Mobile Banking Services using Location based Authentication |
Author : K. Krishna Prasad & P. S. Aithal |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :Every now and then mobile users are increasing in exponentially all over the world, which
leads to the growth of mobile-enabled services like mobile banking. The smart phone now
available in the market having the ability to do all the functions that people can do olden days
using their personal computers. The introduction of mobile communication technology
modernization, innovation and globalization are increasingly driving the banking services to
become ubiquitous, personalized, convenience, disseminative and secured. Mobile Banking
Authentication has evolved over time to include several parameters such as Biometric,
Location, Context, History, Profile etc. In this paper, we discuss new mobile banking services
like Digital deposit apps, advanced bill payment apps, and Electronic meeting for mini loan
services and Mobile payment apps. We can provide higher security for these new services
through an intelligent multi-modal Authentication with Location Awareness. Here the
location, where the mobile banking transaction has been executed is captured giving the
additional option for a Bank to verify if the transaction has been executed normally or if the
parameters are at variance with normal practice. If the Location happens to be very in a
different country, an additional verification process can be introduced adding to the entropy
of Authentication. If the Location happens to be a Bank Branch or an ATM, where there is a
proper iBeacon or GPS providing additional information about identification, then in such a
situation the Authentication can be further simplified based on the type of transaction. In this
paper, we discuss in detail location based authentication and how these can be effectively
applied in enhancing the mobile banking services. |

Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :The quality of life is the general well-being of individuals and societies. It includes not only
wealth and employment but also the built environment, physical, and mental health,
education, recreation and leisure time, and social belonging. According to WHO Health is “a
state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being and not merely an absence of
disease and infirmity” (1948). The ultimate goal for the people 2010 decade was to improve
the quality of life without any disease and to increase the lifespan with the healthy life. The
quality of life is the product of the interplay among social, health, economic and
environmental conditions which affect human and social development (Ontario Social
Development council, 1997). Illnesses are classified as either acute or chronic. An acute
illness lasts for a short period of time and may go away without any intervention the
assistance of medication, and or surgery. A chronic illness is an illness that lasts for a very
long time and usually cannot be cured completely. Chronic illness has a direct impact on
Quality of Life. Chronic illness or condition such as heart decease, high blood pressure,
diabetes, obesity are among the most common, costly and preventable of all health problems.
The major risk factors for chronic illness are an unhealthy diet, lack of exercise, and tension
and habits. Additionally increased Blood pressure and obesity may contribute to chronic
illness. Individuals affected by poverty may be more likely to develop a chronic illness since
access to health services may be difficult. The main aim of this research paper is to know the
Quality of life among working women with High Blood pressure. And the objectives are a)
To identify the quality of life of the working women and b) impact on the health and the
management of the physical life. Both primary and secondary data are used in this research.
50 respondents from Mangaluru taluk were identified randomly and the Research Design will

Creating an Advanced Web Based Environment using Semantic Web |
Author : Panchajanyeswari M Achar |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :E-learning systems are of no help to the users if there are no powerful search engines and
browsing tools to assist them. Most of the current web-based learning systems are closed
systems where the courses and the learning material are fixed. The only thing that is dynamic
is that the organization of the learning content is adapted to allow individualized learning
environment. The learners of web-based e-learning systems belong to different categories
based on their skills, background, preferences and learning styles. This paper focuses on
personalized semantic search and recommending learning content that are appropriate to the
learning environment. The semantic and personalized search of the learning content is based
on comparison of the learner profile. The learner profile depends on re individual learning
style of the user and learning objects’ metadata. This concept needs to be represented both in
the learner profile as well as learning object description as certain data structures.
Personalized recommendation of learning objects uses an approach to determine a more
suitable relationship between learning objects and learning profiles. Thus, it may advise a
learner with most suitable learning objects. Semantic learning objects search is based on the
query expansion of the user query and by using the semantic similarity to retrieve semantic
matched learning objects. |

Author : Julius J. Macha |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :The purpose of this study is to investigate the moderating effects of demographic variables
among the rural citizens in Tanzania on the association between perceived benefits and
determinants of intention to adopt microfinance services by using the Theory of Reasoned
Action. Stratified and multistage sampling techniques were employed to select respondents and
survey questionnaire was administered to collect the data that resulted in a response rate of 82%.
The structural equation modelling (SEM) was employed to analyse the hypotheses of the core
and moderating models. The study’s findings demonstrated that gender and education moderate
the impact of perceived benefits and subjective norms on the rural citizens’ intention to adopt
microfinance services. In addition, the findings suggest that perceived benefits, attitude and
subjective norms significantly influence rural citizens’ intention to adopt microfinance services.
The current study offers useful suggestions to policy makers to design relevant policies
customised according to the strength of the demographic variables that influence determinants of
rural citizens’ intention to adopt microfinance services. |

Evolution of Payment System |
Author : Amith Donald Menezes & Prakash Pinto |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :Clearing has been an important part of the banking system and will always remain a
part of it for years to come. Clearing in banking indicates the transfer of fund from one
person to another. This clearing of the fund can take place in 2 ways either through
cash or through cheque. There has been no major change in the cash transactions
except for the changes in the value of money. However, the cheque clearing system has
undergone lot of changes. The origin of cheque can be traced back to the first century
AD, where banks in and around Persia used to issue letters of credit called “Sakks”
wherein the banks used to pay the identified payees as per the instructions. This
eliminated the cumbersome process of carrying money or gold which was very risky.
Changes have taken place in cheque clearing over the period of time. From ordinary
cheque clearing to MICR clearing and finally to the latest in clearing ‘Cheque
Truncation System’. This is a conceptual paper which tries to explore the changes that
have taken place in the bank clearing system in the past, present and will also try to
visualise the future of bank clearing. |

A New IEDRA Model for Student Placement Realization |
Author : Varun Shenoy and P. S. Aithal |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :Getting campus placement for employment even before completion of their course is a price
achievement for graduating students. Even getting a first job immediately after course
completion is a new dream start for young graduates. However, the complication exists when
students in final graduating year at campus are very much unsure and uncertain about their
chances of getting first job placement despite of all skill training and career counselling imparted
owing to various factors. Therefore, to address and solve this dilemma of students, a new IEDRA
(Interested, Eligible, Deserving, Registered and Acceptability) Theory or Model for placement
achievement is proposed here in this research. Through the study, by introducing the constructs
of proposed theory, determination of job selection possibility for the students is propounded.
Finally, upon determination of stance on their possible interview selections using the framework,
students can formulate a further performance yardstick or standard to follow for ultimate success
in interviews. |

A Study of Student Perception on Printed Study Material Distribution Model at Srinivas Institute of Management Studies |
Author : Shreepathy Ranga Bhatta B. & Varun Kumar S. G. |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :Once 160,000 undergraduates in the University of California system were asked to name the
obstacles that hinder their academic success, the students listed various aspects, but the number
one reason, which was given by 33% of the students, was that they simply didn’t know how to
study. This seems to be a hard reality when it comes to even Indian colleges. As a solution to this
problem, an Innovative practice was adopted by Srinivas Institute of Management Studies and
started to follow a model of distributing " Study Materials" to the pupil for each semester in their
undergraduate programme. Since last few years this practice had a mixed response in college
from the student community. Students have multiple opinions regarding this approach of college.
This study titled “a study of student perception on Printed study material distribution model, a
case study of students at Srinivas Institute of Management Studies with special reference to
MBA & BBM students” is intended to empirically study the actual students’ perception towards
the model and reinvent possible improvements if needed with the help of student’s inputs to
facilitate student friendly learning. |

Psycho-Social Problems faced by Persons with Disability |
Author : Laveena D’Mello , Meena Monteiro , & Govindaraju B. M. |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :Down the ages, we see disability is as curse or punishment. With the development of science and
social change, disability is seen as a societal problem rather than individual problem and solution
became focused on removing the barriers to social change, not just medical care. The persons
with a disability encounter discrimination; they tend to alienate themselves from society as they
feel unwanted and rejected. It affects the psycho social condition of persons with disabilities. The
human person is a complex entity composed of two distinct phenomena, the physique, and the
psyche, commonly called body and mind [1]. It is both common knowledge and scientific theory
that a person’s mental life and emotional reactions are influenced by his physical condition as
well as his social and physical environment [2]. This research paper aims to present PsychoSocial problems faced by a person with a disability. And the objectives are to study the profile of
the physically disabled and psycho social problems of the disabled. This study is descriptive in
nature where data is collected from both primary and secondary source. 25 respondents were
selected for the study and interview schedule is used to collect information. |

Fingerprint Image Segmentation: A Review of State of the Art Techniques |
Author : Krishna Prasad K. & P. S. Aithal |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :In Automatic Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS), pre-processing of the image is a crucial
process in deciding the quality and performance of the system. Pre-processing is consists many
stages as Segmentation, Enhancement, Binarisation, and Thinning. In this segmentation is one of
the steps of pre-processing which differentiate foreground and background region of fingerprint
images. Segmentation is the separation of the fingerprint region or extraction of the presence of
ridges from the background of the initial image. Segmentation is necessary because it constructs
the region of interest from the input image, reduces the processing time, increases the recognition
or matching process performance, and reduces the probability of false feature extraction. A
100% accurate segmentation is always very difficult, especially in the very poor quality image or
partial image filled with noise such as the presence of latent. Fingerprints are made of Ridge and
Valley structure and their features are classified in three levels as Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3.
Level 1 Features are singular macro details like ridge pattern and ridge flows. Level 2 is ridge
local features like ridge bifurcation and ridge ending or simply minutiae points or ridge
orientation. Level 3 is micro details like sweat pores, incipient ridges. This paper provides an
overview of the state of the art techniques of fingerprint image segmentation and contribution of
other researchers on segmentation. This paper also discusses a different class of segmentation
algorithms with its measuring parameters, computational complexity, advantages, limitations,
and applications. |

ABCD Analysis as Research Methodology in Company Case Studies |
Author : P. S. Aithal |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :Company analysis is a type of Case Study method among many types of Case study based
Research Methods. While developing a Company Case study based on various issues in
Management, the researcher can choose any company of any industry to study an issue or to
solve a problem. Usually, a case analysis ends up with the observation of new performance
pattern, interpretation of issues in the form of new information, or development of new
suggestions to improve the system or to solve the problems optimally. Company analysis is
considered to be a most powerful method to study new lessons required to identify, understand,
and solve the problems in the process of managing and leading the organizations. Analysing
business issues related to a company provides an opportunity to researchers to identify the kinds
of situations, decisions, and dilemmas managers facing every day. Company analysis is a
powerful tool in developing both research case study and teaching case study in business
management subject. In this paper, we have discussed how ABCD Analysis as Research
Methodology in company case analysis procedures in order to help the budding researchers
while developing and analysing Company analysis as a Case study. In this paper, we have
checked whether ABCD (Advantages, Benefits, Constraints, and Disadvantages) analysis
framework can be used while analysing a company, how to consider various determinant issues
of a company, selecting various affecting factors under these issues and identifying constituent
critical elements for each construct using its elemental analysis technique, and the reasons to
recommend the ABCD analysis framework in any kind of company analysis.

A Study on Fingerprint Hash Code Generation Using Euclidean Distance for Identifying a User |
Author : Krishna Prasad K. 1 & P. S. Aithal2 |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :Biometrics innovation has ended up being a precise and proficient response to the security issue.
Biometrics is a developing field of research as of late and has been dedicated to the
distinguishing proof or authentication of people utilizing one or multiple inherent physical or
behavioural characteristics. The unique fingerprint traits of a man are exceptionally exact and are
special to a person. Authentication frameworks in light of unique fingerprints have demonstrated
to create low false acceptance rate and false rejection rate, alongside other favourable
circumstances like simple and easy usage strategy. But the modern study reveals that fingerprint
is not so secured like secured passwords which consist of alphanumeric characters, number and
special characters. Fingerprints are left at crime places, on materials or at the door which is
usually class of latent fingerprints. We cannot keep fingerprint as secure like rigid passwords. In
this paper, we discuss fingerprint image Hash code generation based on the Euclidean distance
calculated on the binary image. Euclidean distance on a binary image is the distance from every
pixel to the nearest neighbour pixel which is having bit value one. Hashcode alone not sufficient
for Verification or Authentication purpose, but can work along with Multifactor security model
or it is half secured. To implement Hash code generation we use MATLAB2015a. This study
shows how fingerprints Hash code uniquely identifies a user or acts as index-key or identity-key. |

feel unwanted and rejected.

Digitization of India - Impact on the BOP Sector |
Author : Keerthan Raj, & P. S. Aithal |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :India is the fastest growing economy in the world. It is also the seventh largest economy in the
world by GDP measure and the second largest in terms of Purchasing Power Parity (PPP). The
digital Indian plan was a major step by the government in India to bring all segments into
purview. It has a three pronged agenda of providing infrastructure, governance and digital
empowerment to every citizen. This initiative will transform the economy of the nation and
make it among the top seven countries globally to go completely digital. But, inherently this
exercise was a critical need to get the vast population and the informal sector into the folds of
accountability and get statistics on the informal economy in India. Although, there is no accurate
figure defined as BOP for the Indian sector by the government statistical organizations, the
below poverty line statistics published by the government look at people living on even less than
$ 0.45 per day. Such being the socio economic situation with the thrust on a lot of developmental
measures and poverty alleviation methods, there has been a significant improvement in
employment opportunities and as per some statistics we have seen a large number of households
moving out of dire poverty. The importance of these digitization efforts is planned economic and
societal growth triggered by a massive adoption of digital technologies. This paper studies the
various action plans in digitization and their impact on the BOP sector in India. |
