The gut microbiota is currently being considered as a key regulator of the gut-brain axis. The interactions between the gut mi- crobiota and the brain are being implicated as an important factor in the etiology and treatment of various psychiatric disorders. This review summarizes the current knowledge about the role of the gut-brain axis in autism spectrum disorder, cognitive frailty and Alzheimer’s disease, schizophrenia, depression, anxiety, posttraumatic stress disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, eating disorders and substance use disorders.

The study was conducted on 784 students aged 14 to 17 (383 boys and 401 girls), who were randomly selected, in Son La province. Following the standards of morphological and anthropological studies, this study aims to investigate IQ and find out the correlation between IQ and the fingerprint patterns of these teenagers. The results show that the average IQ of 14-17-year-old students is 102.28 points, with an annual increase of about 2.01 per year.

Introduction: The autistic spectrum disorder (ASD) manifests itself from the earliest age, often before the age of 3 until adulthood. The early diagnosis of the disorder is essential both for families and for people with ASD, as it allows guiding treatments and inter- ventions. We report a case of a 30-year-old female patient who presented with paroxysmal electric shock pain in the external auditory canal lesion.

Congenital hydrocephalus in identical twins is rare. Despite the fact that twinning and congenital hydrocephalus are common in Nigeria, congenital hydrocephalus in identical twins is still very rare in Nigeria with only one case reported so far. This case report highlights the second case from Nigeria, to add to the literature. A set of male identical twins presented to us at 6 months of age with progressive head enlargement after birth. They had obvious craniofacial disproportion, distended scalp veins, sun setting eyes, and brisk knee jerk reflexes bilaterally. There was no thumb ad- duction. Pituitary or hypothalamic disorders including hypopituitarism, Cushing disease, and hyperprolactinemia are major causes of osteoporosis. Patients with pituitary or hypothalamic lesions have tendency of association of hypopituitarism in both preoperative and postoperative endocrinological assessment. Growth hormone deficiency is also one of the considerable risks of osteopenia. Thus, in surgery for pituitary or hypothalamic lesions, preservation of pituitary function and postoperative appropriate hormone replacement therapy are required.

To estimate the prevalence of epilepsy in the rural community of the western province of Madagascar, a door-to-door survey of the general population was carried out in the rural community of Ambolomoty in the Western province of Madagascar during September and October 2021.
