Abstract :A 59-year-old male with no comorbidity having a significant family history of similar symptomatology and demise, presented with
ataxia for the last 1 year, tremors for the last 3 months, and one month of myoclonic jerks and cognitive decline. He had no headache,seizures, visual disturbance, constitutional symptoms, and toxin exposure. His 4 family members passed away in the 5th - 6th decade of life who had similar symptoms but did not seek any medical advice, and died within 1-2 years of disease onset. |

Abstract :Chronic inflammatory conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and osteoarthritis (OA) not only affect physical health but also
have implications for cognitive function. This study aimed to assess cognitive impairment in patients with RA and OA compared to
healthy controls. A total of 67 RA and OA patients and 30 healthy individuals were recruited, and cognitive function was evaluated
using the Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) and Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) scale. Results showed a high
prevalence of cognitive impairment in both RA and OA patients, with older age and higher disease activity scores being significant
factors associated with greater cognitive decline. |
